Chapter 10 A Sudden Gale

After finishing her meal, Xiao Jin got up and went downstairs. She planned to go to the front desk to inquire about some information.

As I walked down the fire escape, I heard shouting coming from inside as soon as I reached the third floor.

"Will this rain ever stop? Haven't the firefighters said when they're coming to rescue us?"

"Exactly, it's not a good idea to keep moving up layer by layer like this. We all have important things to do!"

These people were all hotel guests who were stranded in the hotel due to the heavy rain. The fire and emergency phone lines were busy, so everyone was getting impatient.

As Xiao Jin walked into the third floor, she saw that the reception desk downstairs had been moved here, and the water outside had obviously flooded the two floors below.

Three staff members in hotel uniforms were standing at the front desk, one of whom was the hotel manager, who was sweating profusely as he tried to calm the agitated guests around him.

"Wait a minute, please be patient."

The manager silently wiped away his sweat: "Everyone, our hotel has plenty of drinking water and food. It's still very dangerous outside, so why don't you stay at the hotel for the time being?"

Therefore, I will upgrade the rooms of all hotel guests free of charge and move you to the upper floor to avoid the rain.

Meanwhile, I will remain in contact with the police, and once traffic resumes, I will immediately get everyone out.

Actually, everyone was a little panicked. It was raining outside, and there was no signal or electricity in the hotel. The group huddled together, talking amongst themselves, and the more they talked, the more insecure they felt.

However, the hotel manager's words truly resonated with everyone.

It's raining so hard outside, didn't you see the fire department's phone is busy? They're probably rescuing people. Besides, the hotel has food and drinks and the service is good, it's much safer than outside.

Having received a satisfactory explanation, the crowd naturally stopped arguing. Seeing the commotion subside, the hotel manager wiped the sweat from his face.

As expected, Xiao Jin saw that there was nothing to see, so she turned around and went back upstairs.

Back in his room, Xiao Jin began organizing the supplies in his space. He couldn't stay at the hotel for too long; today was only the second day, and the system wouldn't let players spend seven days so leisurely. There would definitely be more changes to come.

Xiao Jin took all the supplies from the warehouse with him, and now that he looks around, everything is a mess. He'll take advantage of the time to sort them out first.

Everything was placed together, while the food was placed separately in a corner. Looking at it this way, the big table that I brought into the game was quite conspicuous.

Her space is too small, and her powers haven't recovered yet. This table alone takes up a lot of space, so she has to move it out.

The suite was spacious, and Xiao Jin figured no one would care why there was an extra round table, so she found a corner and took the table out of the space.

Xiao Jin's special ability space is entirely under her control.

Once immersed in consciousness, the items inside would float into the air to designated locations. Even at high places, as long as Xiao Jin wanted, supplies could float there out of thin air.

Stacking materials together greatly improves space utilization.

Xiao Jin found another backpack containing two bottles of water, two packs of compressed biscuits, and some small items such as a windproof lighter and a multi-tool.

It's not heavy, but a backpack is meant to conceal space, so its size and dimensions don't hinder movement.

Finally, Xiao Jin took out the weapons that Chen Kai had collected for her.

Wearing the weapon belt inside his coat and the short knife strapped tightly to his waist, Xiao Jin had a habit of keeping his weapon close at hand, as it was always better to do so in the apocalypse.

In her previous life, the people around her had various supernatural abilities, including the ability to temporarily seal space. Xiao Jin had suffered losses because of this.

The long sword was placed on the other side of the pillow, within Xiao Jin's reach.

Everything is ready.

...

3 a.m. on the 17th.

Xiao Jin was awakened by a loud noise.

The moment the sound appeared, she quickly threw off the covers, revealing a pair of bright, star-like eyes that flickered in the darkness. There was no trace of the dazedness of someone who had just woken up in her eyes. Xiao Jin rolled out of bed, her hand already touching the long sword beside her.

After realizing that there was no immediate danger around her, Xiao Jin slightly relaxed her grip on the knife. She looked in the direction of the sound and realized that the commotion was coming from downstairs.

The hotel had good soundproofing, and Xiao Jin only realized what had happened when she opened the door.

It turned out that a strong wind had suddenly picked up outside, and the window of a room on the seventh floor was blown off. The person sleeping inside was caught off guard and was swept away by the wind.

The one who fell was a man. He had his girlfriend with him at the time. The girl was lucky; she hit the wall and didn't fall.

The hallway was filled with cries, shouts of accusations, and cries for help.

At a height of seven stories, even if there were water below, no one could survive. Moreover, the current is extremely rapid; even if someone were lucky enough to survive, they would likely be long gone by now.

Seeing such a terrible scene, everyone else was terrified. With wind above and water below, they didn't know where to hide.

No sooner said than done, a huge sign appeared out of nowhere in the distance, looking like a shop sign. The metal sign spiraled through the air and then mysteriously flew to the front of the hotel.

After the incident, most of the hotel guests were awake. Some went up to the seventh floor to see what was going on, while others huddled at the other end of their rooms, anxiously watching the windows, afraid of following in the footsteps of that unfortunate fellow.

So they were quite lucky; many people saw the sign that flew over.

As the strange object grew larger in front of them, their eyes widened, and after a moment they realized what was happening and screamed, trying to rush out of the room.

Xiao Jin noticed it too. Her pupils contracted, she reached out and grabbed her backpack, and at the same time, her figure swiftly darted to the large round table in the corner of the room.

She lifted the round table with her hand, and then Xiao Jin bent down and crawled behind it.

"Boom!"

The loud noise made people dizzy. The sign slammed into the hotel, and the rooms affected were smashed to pieces on the spot. Those who were not in the room were okay, but those who were in the room were hit by the falling debris.

Instantly, blood splattered, screams and groans filled the air, and strands of flesh and blood clung to the shattered glass.

Someone peeked out and was so horrified by the scene that they immediately collapsed to the side and started vomiting.

"Someone's dead! Someone's dead!"

The survivors collapsed to the ground, their hands trembling as they pointed at the corpses inside the house.
