Xiao Jin seemed unaffected by the tense atmosphere. She calmly took out her phone, her fingers swiping rapidly across the screen, finally stopping at the class group icon.
Clicking into the backend and checking Wu Tianjin's profile picture, Xiao Jin was surprised to find that Wu Tianjin was not dead. The lower half of his profile picture was black and white, while the upper half, above his neck, was in vibrant colors.
Although he's not dead now, who knows what might happen in a little while.
Wu Tianjin in the portrait doesn't seem to be in a good mood. His eyes are wide open, reflecting endless fear and despair. His hair is disheveled, and a line of blood meanders along his neck like a bright red venomous snake, announcing the approach of death step by step.
Xiao Jin calmly put her phone away, but her fingers tapped lightly on the desk, making a 'tap tap tap' sound.
This was the first time she had ever seen this situation; previously, when people who had gone missing were found, their profile pictures had already turned black and white.
Xiao Jin had a gut feeling that the place Wu Tianjin was currently in was the place she was looking for. Perhaps Yu Ling's remaining body was hidden there, which was why Xiao Jin had been unable to find it at the school.
The bell rang, and today's classes came to a complete end.
To the surprise of all the players, the homeroom teacher, who usually disappeared after class, did not leave the classroom immediately today.
The players, who had been hanging in mid-air, put their butts down again and looked at the podium with trepidation.
The homeroom teacher's mouth opened slightly, and a slightly suppressed voice rang out from beneath her dark red lips: "Dear students, tomorrow is your second week at Linhai High School."
"Therefore, there will be a weekly test tomorrow to assess your learning progress from last week. I have posted the details in the class group, so please take note."
After saying that, the homeroom teacher left.
Weekly quiz?
The players, sitting in their seats, were completely stunned by the lightning; their hearts, which had been hanging in suspense, finally died.
The last exam is still fresh in my mind, and now they've suddenly put together a weekly test!
"Is this game trying to kill us all here?" one of the players said indignantly, slamming his fist on the table.
The others also looked troubled.
Xiao Jin thought it was normal; what was a weekly test? Maybe the school would put on an even bigger one later. She got up and walked past the panicked players, striding over to Han Chuan and Lu Jing.
When Lu Jing saw the phone Xiao Jin handed him, his brows furrowed instantly, and disbelief flashed in his eyes: "This...is Wu Tianjin? How could he have become like this?"
Han Chuan gripped his phone tightly, overwhelmed by immense panic.
In order to find Wu Tianjin as soon as possible, the three of them did not go to the cafeteria, but went straight back to the men's dormitory building.
The dormitory building is shady, the whole building is hidden in shadow. Even in the daytime, it seems to be gently shrouded in a layer of twilight. The dim yellow lights sway gracefully overhead, making people dizzy.
After entering the dormitory building, Xiao Jin strode towards the stairs. She didn't stop, but instead turned directly to the inconspicuous corner at the back.
Behind the dark stone wall, in a small space of less than two square meters, there were many pieces of waste and scattered cigarette butts in the corner, and the dust on the ground was covered with messy footprints.
Closer to the innermost part, a dark brown statue quietly hides, its body about an arm's length long, with a winding snake totem wrapped around its lower body. The base at the bottom is made of a stone carving full of strange patterns, the patterns of which look like snake scales.
Looking further up, there was a woman with her arms crossed, her face buried in the crook of her arms so her features were not visible. Her entire body was covered by a wide robe, except for her bare feet, where a black two-headed snake was coiled around her ankles.
The two-headed snake slightly raised its upper body and flicked out its red tongue.
Xiao Jin's gaze lingered on the statue for a moment, a fleeting, unfathomable emotion flashing in her eyes. Then, she gently squatted down.
Under Xiao Jin's focused gaze, the two-headed snake seemed to become even more lifelike. Its scales shimmered with a cold luster in the dim light, and the scale-like patterns on the base at the statue's feet seemed to be writhing, giving one a strange sense of dread.
Since Xiao Jin had already noticed it, the statue could no longer shield her senses. The surrounding air seemed to be stirred by an invisible force, carrying an indescribable chill.
Han Chuan had a complicated expression on his face. He pursed his lips, clenched his fists, and his knuckles turned white from the force.
If Xiao Jin hadn't been there, he probably would have died rather than have touched that evil statue again. If Wu Tianjin were really dead, he would have been killed by it too.
Lu Jing, who was standing to the side, asked slowly with a hint of inquiry in his tone, "You mean, you and Wu Tianjin were smoking here yesterday and accidentally knocked over that statue, right?"
Upon hearing this, Han Chuan quickly nodded in agreement: "Yes."
At this moment, Xiao Jin, who was squatting down, suddenly interjected: "Who helped it stand up again?"
Upon hearing this, Han Chuan paused for a moment, then quickly regained his composure and said firmly, "It's Brother Wu."
"And you? Have you ever encountered it?" Xiao Jin gently raised her gaze and landed on Han Chuan.
Han Chuan shook his head and answered decisively: "No, after Brother Wu helped the statue up, the two of us left, and we haven't gone out since."
Xiao Jin nodded; that made sense.
Let her think of somewhere else besides the men's dormitory where there are such statues.
"Do many players smoke?" As he spoke, Xiao Jin reached out and grabbed the statue in front of Lu Jing and the other person, even weighing it in his hand a couple of times.
"Boss!"
"Xiao Jin, you're insane!!!"
Han Chuan's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, and Lu Jing even reached out to snatch the statue and throw it away, but Xiao Jin dodged it.
Xiao Jin stood up, looked down at the statue, and then said to the two people behind him as he walked upstairs: "You two can rest as usual tonight. Don't worry about me. If you hear any noise, don't pay attention to it."
Lu Jing stared at Xiao Jin's back with an inscrutable expression.
"Perhaps the big boss has a solution!" Han Chuan said hesitantly from behind.
