Chapter 459 Smuggling Medicine

After receiving breakfast, Xiao Jin did not start eating immediately.

She looked around and saw that some people had already started wolfing down their food, while others were guarding their food warily, as if afraid that it would be taken away.

"Auntie, could you watch this for me? I need to go to the restroom," Xiao Jin said to the auntie next to her.

The woman smiled and nodded: "Okay, don't worry, I'll definitely take good care of it for you. Just remember to hurry."

After all, in a situation like this, if someone shamelessly steals your breakfast, the logistics department won't give you another one.

Xiao Jin thanked him and quickly headed towards the restroom.

The toilets were crowded in the morning, but everyone lined up obediently because there were staff members with guns watching over them, and no one dared to cause trouble.

After washing up, Xiao Jin returned to her bed, took the breakfast handed to her by the aunt, sat down, and slowly ate the steamed buns and porridge, while pondering her next plan.

"Although the inner city is safe, the living conditions here are too poor." Xiao Jin thought to himself, "I have to find a way to improve my status, at least to have a private room."

Xiao Jin felt it was too early to reveal his skills; perhaps it would be better to exchange them for supplies?

Food? Gasoline? Medicine?

These are all good things, but Xiao Jin hasn't decided which ones to give them to yet.

If we're going to give her food, we can't give her too little. If the area is too large, she'll have to find a bigger place to move it in, which isn't appropriate.

Give her gasoline? Xiao Jin was reluctant; she didn't have much gasoline in her storage space!

That leaves only medicine.

As for how to distribute the medicine, Xiao Jin thought of the summonable items in the game of 'Flying Chess'.

There was no way around it; she practically took off her clothes when she came in, and they could find whatever medicine she had on her.

If she wants to give away the medicine, she can't just conjure it up out of thin air!

After finishing breakfast, Xiao Jin tidied up the dishes and then stood up, preparing to explore other parts of the inner city.

While gathering information, we also considered how to carry out the plan.

Xiao Jin left the communal housing and walked on the streets of the inner city.

The morning sun shone on the clean road, and the survivors coming and going looked to be in good spirits, with little fear on their faces.

Xiao Jin's gaze swept over them, and she pondered to herself.

"It seems that the inner city is indeed well-managed."

She noticed that the buildings on both sides of the street were orderly and patrol teams were everywhere. Compared to the safe zone in her own world, the discipline here was excellent.

I walked all the way and didn't see any bullying or arguments.

As Xiao Jin walked, she discovered many survivors heading to work. They were either pushing carts or carrying tools, hurrying to their respective work locations.

Xiao Jin stopped a middle-aged man and asked, "Brother, what are you doing here?"

The middle-aged man stopped, wiped the sweat from his brow, and replied with a smile, "Going to work! The city often hires workers for various jobs, and the reward is various supplies."

Things like food, water, needles and thread, clothes, and soap. It's tiring, but better than being idle.

Xiao Jin nodded: "Where are the job postings?"

The middle-aged man shook his head: "You're too late. We just recruited a batch a few days ago, and there are no openings now. But you can keep an eye on the bulletin board; maybe there will be new assignments someday."

Xiao Jin thanked him and watched the middle-aged man leave.

She continued her stroll through the inner city, her gaze sweeping over the surrounding buildings. She noticed that the inner city's residential areas were divided into several classes.

The outermost layer consists of communal housing, large buildings like the one she lives in. There are dozens of such buildings scattered around the outer perimeter of the inner city.

The farms, vegetable gardens, and planting areas in the safe zone are mostly located around the collective housing.

Further inside are family rooms in mid-rise buildings, which are more spacious and more suitable for families.

Next are the single apartments, which are much better than the communal housing, but not just anyone can live there; the official government buildings are located around here.

The innermost part is the villa area, where people either live in the high-rise buildings of the safe zone, or are scientists, doctors, researchers, and tycoons.

Besides handing over supplies, the only other options for survivors to move into these types of housing were to risk their lives or sell their bodies.

Yes, those tycoons each provided substantial resources to ensure they could continue their extravagant lifestyle within the safe zone.

However, ordinary people don't have that many supplies.

"Saving one's life" means joining patrol teams, supply collection teams, or rescue teams.

These are some of the best-paying jobs in the city, but they're incredibly demanding. You'll be constantly dealing with mutants, so dying is quite common.

As for selling oneself...

Selling oneself, as the name suggests, means finding a powerful figure to cling to, someone who can provide a good house, and at least saving one from taking fifty years of detours!

After wandering around for the morning, Xiao Jin returned to the dormitory before lunch was served.

Of course, she didn't just wander around aimlessly; Xiao Jin also resolved the issue of the medicines that needed to be handed over.

Considering the limited number of chess pieces in Flying Chess, and the fact that summoned creatures would be carrying a huge amount of supplies, wouldn't that make the patrol helicopters in the safe zone blind?

Therefore, Xiao Jin planned to take it one step at a time and send a chess piece summon with three nano-healing needles out to hide in a villa.

Then Xiao Jin will go to the high-ranking officials in the safe zone and say that he has a special drug that was developed by foreign countries at a cost of tens of billions.

If they don't believe it, they can try the red pill themselves and say it's a failed nanotherapy needle.

If Xiao Jin hadn't only had two red pills left, she wouldn't have chosen the more expensive nanotherapy needles.

Lunch is always the most anticipated meal, at least for survivors in the safe zone.

To save food, the safe zone kept the evening meal simple, since there was no work to do after eating.

Today's lunch was rice, stir-fried potatoes with green peppers, Mapo tofu, and braised chicken pieces. There were only a few chicken pieces, about three or four per person.

There's a lot of tofu, so there must be a place in the inner city that specializes in making tofu.

Xiao Jin took a bite; it was alright, just a little bland.

After finishing lunch, Xiao Jin left the dormitory as usual. This time, she decided to check the bulletin board first to see if there were any suitable opportunities.

She walked to the central square of the inner city and found that a large crowd had already gathered there. The bulletin boards were covered with various job postings, but most of them had already been filled.

Xiao Jin glanced at it and saw that it was mostly about building houses, roads, and planting, which had nothing to do with what he was looking for.

"Looks like we'll have to think of another way." Xiao Jin turned to leave.
