Chapter 539 Conspiracy

Xiao Jin casually pulled off the thin blanket hanging on her shoulder, took out steaming food from her spatial storage, and placed it on the dining table.

The golden-brown roast duck, glistening with oil, is soaked in chili oil. The aroma of garlic, vermicelli, and scallops instantly washes away the bloody smell in the air. The meatball soup is incredibly sweet and savory, and the handmade beef balls inside are bouncy and chewy.

Xiao Jin chewed it, and the juice burst out with each bite.

"Click"

Xiao Jin sat contentedly at the table, just as she was biting into the crispy shell of the cheese-baked corn, when suddenly a heavy sound came from downstairs as something fell to the ground.

Xiao Jin paused, and A Mo's head immediately turned towards the source of the sound.

"Tsk, annoying." She licked the cheese off her fingertips. "They won't even let me eat in peace."

The screen was suddenly flooded with comments:

Wow, handsome, look behind you!

[Ceiling! Ceiling!]

Without turning his head, Xiao Jin threw out his kitchen knife. A flash of cold light, and a mist ghost that had crawled out of a hole in the wall was pinned to the wall.

As luck would have it, dark green blood splattered onto the cheese corn. She frowned and threw the plate, along with the corpse of the Fog Ghost, out the window.

"It's very impolite to disturb others during mealtimes..." She wiped her saber and looked at another Fog Ghost on the ceiling.

"Hiss~" Amo bowed and made the first move.

Xiao Jin didn't help either, but instead put the other food items back into her spatial storage to prevent them from getting contaminated! She hadn't even eaten a few bites yet.

……………………

Just as Xiao Jin was giving the Fog Ghost a good beating for disturbing her enjoyment of food.

In the activity room on the eighth floor of the apartment building, a dozen survivors were gathered in a circle.

The candlelight cast distorted shadows on each of their faces, and upon closer inspection, it was clear that almost all of them bore some degree of festering sores.

"I heard he eats meat at every meal!" The man in the plaid shirt pounded the table. "I saw him throw away half a roast duck!"

The other man rolled his eyes in annoyance.

They even threw away roast duck. If you saw it, why didn't you pick it up?

The person huddled in the corner chimed in, "But it's her skill to eat meat...she saved the entire building's residents."

"That was for herself!" the red-haired woman shrieked. "Yesterday I saw her groping those two sisters in room 1701! What kind of good person would do that!"

Another one who just spouts off without thinking.

"What?! She actually dared to do that, you bastard!"

Yet, some people still believe it.

The man in the plaid shirt was furious, his hatred for Xiao Jin growing even stronger.

On what grounds? On what grounds?

He was filled with resentment. He had liked those two beautiful sisters for a long time and was planning to make a move, but some unknown young man beat him to it.

That's truly hateful.

The middle-aged man wearing gold-rimmed glasses next to him pushed up his glasses; he wasn't concerned with such trivial matters.

"We need to establish rules. There aren't many survivors left in the building, so it's best to distribute all supplies centrally..."

"Bullshit!" The tattooed youth kicked over a chair. "I don't care, just don't expect me to bring out the food. If you ask me, we should just rob that kid first!"

She must have an endless supply of food in her room!

Regardless of whether the roast duck was lost or not, everyone had already assumed that Xiao Jin certainly didn't lack food or drink.

The red-haired woman's eyes darted around.

When the sisters were attacked by the Fog Ghost, she and her husband hid by the door, neither daring to intervene.

She saw it with her own eyes: those two little bitches gave that kid a lot of food, but he didn't even look at it.

If there wasn't so much food that we couldn't finish it all, who would be willing to refuse?

The thought of Xiao Jin's house being filled with rice, flour, and bottled water suddenly made everyone's breathing heavy. A candle popped and flickered, reflecting a greedy flame in everyone's eyes.

"But..." the young woman leaning against the window said weakly, "They kill monsters like it's nothing, how can we possibly beat them...?"

"That's why we need to outsmart her!" The middle-aged man with glasses suddenly lowered his voice: "I've observed that she seems to really enjoy killing that monster."

We could easily take advantage of her absence and secretly...

The group huddled together and whispered among themselves. After about ten minutes, they transformed back into normal people, showing no trace of their previous greed.

They then talked about other things, focusing on the source of the toxic fog and how to criticize the government.

"These government officials are really useless. It's been so long and they still haven't sent anyone to rescue us."

"My son is still out of town and I can't get in touch with him. I don't know if he's sick or if he's eating enough."

At this point, everyone fell silent. After all, who doesn't have relatives?

"Why did this damn poisonous fog have to appear?"

"I heard people online say it might be related to Japan's nuclear wastewater discharge. Why don't they poison them instead of dragging us into this? Or maybe we could have a sudden earthquake and flood that little island..."

As they talked, the group chatted about all sorts of things, and somehow the conversation returned to Xiao Jin.

This time, we're talking about her ghostly methods.

"Could it be a spiritual energy revival, or the awakening of superpowers or something?" The middle-aged man who spoke was very excited, like a middle-aged teenager.

It's obvious that he reads a lot of novels.

"Alright, enough with the talk of spiritual energy revival." The red-haired woman waved her hand dismissively. "If it's really as you say, I'm not bad either."

"Um... what's with all the sword and knife wielding? I don't really see anything about it."

"But even so, I saw it with my own eyes. With just one swing of her knife, several beams of light suddenly appeared, and the monster was instantly cut into several pieces."
