Chapter 549 Underground Base (Revised)

[Sorry, due to some issues in Jiang Shang's real life, I will have to take a two-week break from updating. I plan to resume updates on the 1st...]

"We are just ordinary people who came here to escape the Fog Ghosts. The air-raid shelter was built for residents to hide in, so why can't we get close?" Xiao Jin questioned loudly.

Inside the monitoring room.

The captain, who had looked tense, turned to look at the woman in front of the monitor.

"Base Commander...we..."

The woman, who is also the base leader.

The other person had short, neat hair, was in his forties, had a rather plain face, and was wearing a white protective suit.

After a while, the base commander pressed the communicator: "First squad, go and bring the man in."

"Base Commander?"

“She’s right,” the base commander said calmly. “This place was built for the safety of the people. And judging from their appearance, they don’t seem to be those monsters.”

“But…” The captain on the side was still not quite in favor of letting Xiao Jin and the others in.

"These are just the surface; who knows if they'll develop new abilities? What if they really are monsters? Wouldn't we be letting a wolf into our house, Commander?!"

The base commander remained silent.

After a moment, she murmured, "Perhaps, but I have a feeling that the people inside might surprise me."

As if to prove her words...

The iron door of the air-raid shelter suddenly rose with a "bang," and Xiao Jin and the others outside turned serious.

Immediately afterwards, more than twenty soldiers in full camouflage uniforms rushed out, led by a man with a buzz cut carrying a shotgun and wearing a black eye patch over his left eye.

"Brilliant!" The one-eyed man clapped his hands as he stepped out of the shadows. "That move was really cool! Can you tell me how you did it?"

Xiao Jin did not sheathe his long sword.

Not only her, but even though One-Eyed Dragon was acting very friendly, Xiao Jin could still see through his surface to his inner tension.

Even as he spoke, the men behind him remained on high alert, their muscles taut. It seemed they would attack at the slightest provocation.

This scene made Xiao Jin somewhat puzzled. What were they afraid of? Ordinary people? Or had some players done something?

Xiao Jin: "This place has been taken over by the military?"

"yes."

"So why attack ordinary people?"

The one-eyed man paused, a hint of seriousness flashing across his expression.

He didn't answer Xiao Jin's question, but instead asked in return, "So, you consider yourself an ordinary person? Few ordinary people can react that fast."

"I just enjoy exercising in my spare time. The world is so big, there are always some extraordinary people." As she said this, Xiao Jin looked directly into the eyes of the one-eyed man.

"What are you doubting now? Are you doubting that I'm not human?"

The one-eyed man's pupils shrank sharply, and a fierce killing intent was instantly released from his body, completely unlike his previous amiable appearance.

"Looks like I was right!" That's the first one.

Xiao Jin remained calm, but Yin Hang and the others behind her were so nervous they almost jumped up.

Oh my goodness!

Why did you provoke him?

"Ha!" He pulled back the bolt. "What do you know?"

Faced with the one-eyed man's questioning, Xiao Jin suddenly smiled.

She flashed and instantly teleported in front of the one-eyed man, simultaneously raising her hand to grasp the gun barrel, her palm twisting in pain.

Then, under everyone's watchful eyes, the gun barrel in the one-eyed man's hand was strangely broken in half, as if it had been randomly smeared on with a blackboard eraser.

What???

Everyone was shocked.

"When..." The one-eyed man's hair was practically standing on end; he hadn't seen Xiao Jin's movements at all.

As a highly skilled and elite soldier, he would never allow anyone to get close to him so easily. Besides, what kind of ability did she just use? And where was his gun?

"Don't move..."

"Back off! Back off now!!!"

Realizing what had happened, the one-eyed man suddenly took a few steps back, while the other soldiers, like startled leopards, immediately raised their guns and aimed them at Xiao Jin.

Upon seeing this, Yin Hang and the others quickly hid behind obstacles, their masks almost soaked with sweat, and they stared anxiously ahead.

Xiao Jin remained calm and raised her eyes indifferently: "You know, this won't work on me."

One-Eyed Dragon took a deep breath, then his eyes twitched slightly, as if he were listening to what was happening in his earpiece.

Xiao Jinquan pretended not to see it.

After a while, he reached out and made a downward gesture. The soldiers obeyed his orders and, although they were still wary of Xiao Jin, they still lowered their guns.

"No need, I know. With your abilities, killing us would be very easy."

"The officer wants to see you. Please come in!"

After saying this, the one-eyed man turned around, and the door behind him opened immediately.

Only then did they realize that behind the ordinary-looking door was another, highly technological silver door.

The materials don't reveal anything, but it's definitely not something Lin Bin could pry open.

Hearing this, Xiao Jin was not surprised and calmly stepped inside.

As for Yin Hang and the others behind her, they first exchanged surprised glances.

Did we just go in like that? It doesn't seem to be what they expected!

But seeing that Xiao Jin had already gone inside, the group immediately remembered the omnipresent Fog Ghosts outside and gritted their teeth to follow him.

………………

"Pfft!!!"

The roar of gears turning came from the air-raid shelter as the three-ton alloy gate slowly opened.

Upon seeing the situation inside, Xiao Jin and the others' pupils contracted slightly—this was not an ordinary shelter at all, but an underground base converted into a military fortress.
