*Sizzle! Sizzle sizzle sizzle!*
Space is shrinking.
Bang!
Visible to the naked eye, accompanied by the explosive sound of flesh being squeezed, a cloud of blood mist flashed past everyone's eyes, but was immediately swallowed up in the endless void, leaving not even a trace.
The special mist demons ahead, under Xiao Jin's control, were first imprisoned in a spatial rift. Finally, Xiao Jin compressed the space step by step, turning the demons into blood mist.
In less than a minute, the situation on the field changed rapidly.
The area around the air-raid shelter's main entrance was shrouded in an even deeper silence than before.
Not only NPCs, but even players' eyes flickered when they were stared at by Xiao Jin.
What kind of ability is that, to drag an enemy into the void? If I encountered this move, wouldn't I be completely at her mercy!
If the players previously viewed Xiao Jin with apprehension and a desire to befriend her, now they are filled with pure fear. If circumstances allowed, none of them would want to be in the same space as Xiao Jin.
The mage player's face turned pale: Damn it, when is this game over?!
…………
The pale beams of searchlight, like the gasps of a dying beast, swept futilely across the battlefield strewn with corpses.
The smoke, mixed with the thick, pungent smell of burnt flesh and blood, weighed heavily on the chests of every survivor.
The roar of gunfire finally ceased, replaced by the suppressed groans of the wounded, the heavy breathing of soldiers, and... a deathly silence born of near-extinction after surviving a catastrophe.
In front of the defensive line, the surging tide of mist demons seemed to have been harvested by an invisible giant scythe, leaving behind layers upon layers of broken debris piled up like mountains.
Thick, dark red blood plasma soaked through the cold concrete floor, pooling into nauseating streams and forming small pools of blood in low-lying areas, reflecting the blood-red crescent moon shrouded in mist, which appeared particularly cold and eerie.
Limbs, severed limbs, shattered internal organs, charred flesh and tissue... all sorts of indescribable fragments covered every inch of land within sight, and the intense stench of death was almost tangible, making one's throat tighten.
A few mist ghosts that were lucky enough not to be completely dead, still twitching slightly in pools of blood, let out weak and painful hisses.
The base commander appeared on the defensive fortifications that had been partially destroyed by the bomb.
Her uniform hem was stained with large patches of black and red dirt, and her face was blackened by gunpowder smoke.
After Xiao Jin unleashed his power and saw that everyone had stopped moving, he coldly uttered, "Are you all planning to watch the show?"
Once they realized what was happening, the people continued their attack on the Fog Demon.
About two hours later, there were no more Mist Ghosts left to kill on the battlefield. They had either been eliminated by the players or had simply succumbed to fear and fled.
Seeing this, the base commander then came down to handle the remaining matters.
"Clean up the battlefield," the base commander said in a low voice, "Keep your eyes peeled!"
Upon receiving the order, the soldiers dispersed swiftly, like silent and efficient killing machines.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The dull thud of shotgun shells at close range echoed in succession, like the beating of a broken drum. The target was the still-writhing remains of the Mist Demons on the ground.
With each shot, the carapace shattered, and rotting flesh and dark slurry splattered everywhere.
The soldier searched the ground expressionlessly, and when he found the dying Mist Demon, he crushed it as if it were an insect, delivering the fatal blow to the Mist Demon's hideous head.
However, the Mist Demon is not the only one still here.
"Heh...heh..."
On the other side, an infected NPC, whose lower body had been blown off and who was crawling with difficulty in a pool of blood using only his arms, was staring intently at the approaching soldier with his turbid dark red eyes.
He slowly reached out his hand, letting out an unintelligible groan: "Please...help me..."
Pfft!
The next second, a military dagger pierced his neck with precision and ruthlessness!
The sharp bayonet spun as it was pulled out, drawing out a spray of foul-smelling black blood. The soldier's boots pressed down on the still convulsing mangled body, and the bayonet plunged back into the heart, finally ending the inhuman suffering.
Similar scenes are still playing out brutally in every corner of the battlefield.
There was no mercy, no salvation. Only the cold muzzle of a gun, the spitting flames, and the deadly blade ended all remaining signs of life.
A few minutes ago.
The base commander stood with his hands behind his back on a high pile of ruins, coldly observing everything.
At that moment, an officer quickly walked up to him and reported in a low voice: "Sir, there are still dozens of those seriously injured infected people... they're all barely clinging to life. What should we do?"
The base commander didn't even lift his eyelids. His gaze swept over a man in the distance who had been dragged out by soldiers. His abdomen had been blown open, his intestines were spilling out, and he was still twitching unconsciously. A cold smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
"Get rid of them all." Her voice was completely flat.
"First, the base's medical resources aren't meant for these kinds of people; it's a waste. Second, look at them..."
She gestured with her chin toward an infected person whose skin was completely ulcerated and blackened, and whose eyes were cloudy like rotten mud.
"Having been corroded to this extent, how much purification serum would it take to save it? Do we even have that?"
The officer remained silent.
The base commander knew better than anyone how precious the serum was.
The base commander tilted his head slightly, his gaze sharp as a knife, piercing the officer. His voice was even lower, carrying a chilling, all-knowing quality: "And the most important point... how do you think they've survived in the fog until now? By gnawing on tree bark? Hmm?"
The officer's body stiffened abruptly, his face turned pale instantly, and his stomach churned violently.
He understood the unspoken, chilling meaning behind his superior's words.
That's why the base chief would never allow something that had degenerated into a beast to set foot in her base again!
"Yes! Understood!" The officer's voice trembled slightly. He immediately turned around and delivered the order in a stern voice: "Clear them all! Leave no one alive! And be quick!"
The base commander stopped looking at the bloody "cleanup" scene and turned her gaze to the more murky fog on the outskirts of the battlefield. There, the remaining fog writhed slowly like ghosts.
She knew that the Fog Demons had not been completely wiped out; they had simply been frightened and temporarily retreated into the deeper poisonous fog, licking their wounds and waiting for the next opportunity.
The base commander knew even better who they were relying on to hold out tonight—it was that group of outsiders who were like human weapons.
Especially that one named Xiao Jin...
The thought of her transforming into a blood mist in an instant, like a god or demon, at the base's entrance sent a deep shiver of fear through the base commander's eyes.
So she quickly beckoned to the guard beside her and whispered a few instructions to him.
The guards obeyed and quickly left.
