Chapter 6 Competition

Xiao Jin knew the rules of underground boxing rings much better than Chen Kai, after all, she often frequented such places before the apocalypse.

Every city has a dark side that ordinary people can't see. Maybe the places you pass by during the day on your way to and from get off work will turn into terrifying monsters at night.

Based on her experience, Xiao Jin successfully found clues about the underground boxing ring in the bar street.

After signing the contract, Xiao Jin was taken to the arena by the staff. Entering the arena was like entering another world. There were a lot of security guards and patrol personnel. Xiao Jin encountered countless obstacles along the way. If it weren't for the staff leading the way, it wouldn't have been easy to enter the arena on his own.

Compared to the lawless areas, this boxing gym located in D City is relatively 'legitimate'.

Before even entering, Xiao Jin could smell the strong odor of tobacco and sweat at the door. Pushing open the heavy door, a wave of heat, accompanied by screams and roars, rushed out.

The spotlights hanging high up were dazzling, and rows of tiered stands surrounded the entire arena. Below was the mud-brick ring, where two naked boxers stood, exchanging blows with frenzy and ruthlessness. Each exchange was accompanied by the sound of bones tearing.

Sweat and blood splattered until one person was knocked heavily to the ground, and the shouts in the arena seemed to shake the entire underground boxing ring.

"Aww!! I bet right!!"

"Hahaha, smash it, smash his head to pieces, ha!"

"Damn it, you trash, you piece of garbage, you owe me money."

The outcome is decided. The winners go home with their winnings and continue to invest their money in the next game, while the losers are furious and, even after losing everything, are still unwilling to accept defeat. This meaningless battle was destined to be won by the bookmakers in the end.

Xiao Jin made her way through the excited crowd to the back changing room.

Xiao Jin didn't take off her clothes like the other contestants. Instead, she put on a combat uniform she had bought earlier and wore a black mask that covered her delicate features, revealing her deep and sharp eyes.

This atmosphere reminded Xiao Jin of her past life, and her blood began to surge, making her feel inexplicably excited.

When Xiao Jin left the dressing room, the staff waiting for her at the door were startled when they saw her. Her gaze seemed to pierce through people's hearts, and her aura carried an endless pressure. Her eyes flashed with a cold light, and her expression was almost cruelly indifferent.

The staff members dared not speak and stiffly led Xiao Jin backstage.

"Uh...you're next. Someone will let you know." With that, the person ran off without looking back.

Xiao Jin ignored it and waited quietly backstage, closing her eyes and engaging all her muscles.

Come on! Let's hope our opponents don't fall too quickly!

The previous match seemed quite intense. Both fighters were lying on the ground, and the boxing ring staff carried them off the field, where they looked like rag dolls. On the big screen, the new fighters' names began to scroll, eventually landing on an unfamiliar name—X.

"X? Who is this person? I've never heard of him before."

"Could it be a newbie? We haven't had a new one here in ages!"

"Hahaha, I'm sure I'll win this time. His opponent is Lion King, who won five games in a row last week. I'm betting on Lion King."

"I'll bet too, I'll bet too..."

"And me too."

Before the betting pools were closed, everyone began placing bets, and with the sound of a gong, the competition officially began.

On the left side of the arena, a tall figure flipped up from below the stage. The man had a shaved head, a fierce face, a broad back and thick waist, and bulging muscles on his legs and arms.

As soon as he stepped onto the stage, he raised his arms high towards the audience, eliciting a series of shouts.

Shifting the gaze to the right, the scene instantly changes. A slender figure strides in, her slightly long short hair streaked with silver highlights that gleam dazzlingly under the lights.

The mask concealed his small, palm-sized face, and beneath his wispy hair were a pair of eyes like those of a lone wolf—cold, wild, and tinged with a hint of madness.

At some point, the noise from the audience stopped, and all they could see was the boy's upright figure.

In a high platform above the competition field, Chen Kai sat in a private box, a cigar dangling from his lips. Through the clear glass above, he looked down at Xiao Jin's back on the ground, a hint of regret on his face.

It's such a shame about his face; if it were shown, these people would probably go even crazier.

"This..." The Lion King paused for a moment, then turned to look at the staff member beside him.

"Is he X? Could we have slept with the wrong person?"

No one answered the Lion King's question, and Xiao Jin did not stop walking. This could only mean that the one he was going to compete against next was indeed this weakling in front of him.

The Lion King immediately laughed: "Hahaha, are you planning to send me a little toy to amuse me? Kid, have you grown your fur yet? Can't you see my fist? One punch and I'll smash you to pieces."

The Lion King licked his lips, his eyes sweeping over Xiao Jin's body again and again, a sinister smile spreading across his face.

Xiao Jin was unmoved by the Lion King's insults and provocations. To her, such behavior was like a child making threats; she preferred to settle things with fists.

Those who had placed bets on Lion King before the game were overjoyed. They were glad they hadn't recognized him as a new face and assumed he was the dark horse. It seemed they had made the right bet!

Conversely, those who had hoped to gamble on Xiao Jin turned pale and were filled with regret.

It's over! Everything's over now!

Lion King was annoyed by Xiao Jin's disregard. A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes as he secretly planned to teach the kid a lesson in the upcoming match.

The red indicator light rose, signaling the start of the competition, and the Lion King roared as it charged forward.

In fact, these underground arenas are quite flexible in terms of both rules and participants. Muay Thai, Sanda, and kickboxing are all acceptable, as long as no weapons are used.

Formal boxing matches have high entry requirements, but in Xiao Jin's current ring, whoever stands until the end is the winner.

Lion King wasn't stupid. Since he could get money for free, no one would complain about the money being too hot to handle. As soon as the countdown ended, he immediately seized the initiative and attacked Xiao Jin, betting that his opponent was a newcomer who was unfamiliar with this boxing ring.

"Hiss~" The people on the stage all gasped, as if they could already see Xiao Jin lying on the stage with his face covered in blood.
