Chapter 670 Trap

“Yiming! It…it’s outside! It’s watching us!” Wang Yuqing’s voice was choked with sobs.

"Damn it, I don't care what you are!" Lu Yiming was clearly driven to the limit by fear and his girlfriend's breakdown, and a surge of blood rushed to his head.

"I'll fight you to the death!" He pulled out the prop and held it firmly in his hand.

A roar was followed by the sound of a heavy object slamming against the door. The thing outside had clearly heard their conversation and was about to come in.

"Don't open the door!" Zhan Wenzhen's calm warning pierced through the door, but it was too late!

"Clang!"

A loud, rough thud rang out as Lü Yiming pulled the bolt open! He clearly wanted to rush out, or at least see what was outside.

But just as the wooden door to the side room was opened a crack—

"Sizzle—!"

A piercing sound, like cloth being torn apart, accompanied by an extremely short scream from Lü Yiming, suddenly exploded!

"Yiming—!!!" Wang Yuqing's heart-wrenching scream followed immediately.

what happened?!

Xiao Jin suddenly opened his tightly closed eyes, a cold glint flashing in them!

However, she did not get up to open the door, but Amo, who was perched on her shoulder, suddenly narrowed his vertical pupils into a very thin line, and an invisible spiritual link was established instantly.

Amo's vision, like the most sophisticated surveillance camera, pierced through the door panel, clearly projecting the scene of the corridor outside into Xiao Jin's mind—

Under the dim red lantern light, Lü Yiming stood stiffly at the door of his open room, his body trembling violently, his face showing extreme fear and incredulous bewilderment.

His right hand was still in the position of pulling the door, and on the door he had opened, a bright red double happiness character with brand-new edges but a dark color like congealed blood was torn in half from the middle!

Half of it was still crookedly stuck to the door, while the other half had fallen to the ground.

Rule: [Specific items must not be damaged]!

Just as the character 囍 was torn apart!

From the shadows beneath Lü Yiming's feet, without warning, more than a dozen bizarre things, formed from viscous darkness and resembling octopus tentacles, emerged.

With lightning speed, they instantly wrapped around his ankles, calves, waist, and arms. The tentacles were icy cold, with a nauseatingly slippery feel and a powerful binding force!

Lu Yiming only had time to let out a short, choking "ho" before he was violently pulled off the ground by the dozen or so dark tentacles.

Like a stone thrown into the deep sea, it was instantly dragged into the thick, impenetrable darkness outside the door, filled with resentment!

All that remained was half a broken double happiness character on the door panel and several fresh, dark red bloodstains on the ground, dragged out and exuding a strong rusty smell.

Wang Yuqing collapsed inside the door, watching helplessly as her boyfriend disappeared. She gasped for breath, her eyes rolled back, and she passed out completely.

The crying and the sound of chains being dragged outside the door stopped abruptly the moment Lü Yiming was pulled away.

As if completing some kind of ritual, it swiftly departed, disappearing into the depths of the ancient house. Only a deathly silence remained, along with the sweet, metallic scent of fresh blood that permeated the air.

After Xiao Jin "saw" all of this, the images in her mind disappeared.

She slowly stood up, her movements silent. She walked to the door of her room, her gaze coldly settling on the door panel—

Before anyone knew it, a brand new, equally dark red "囍" character, as dark as congealed blood, had been silently pasted onto the center of her door, like a cold death mark!

A cold smile curved her lips.

The boss in this dungeon likes to do these sneaky little tricks.

"Go, take it off." Xiao Jin tapped Amo's little head.

Amo understood immediately, and with a shake, his body shrank again, quickly becoming a tiny strip.

Then it spotted a crack in the door, poked through the window paper, and slipped out of the room. After that, it carefully peeled off the "double happiness" character in front of the door.

"Squeak..."

Xiao Jin's door was gently pulled open a crack.

She didn't go out immediately; her sharp gaze, like a probe, scanned the dim and silent corridor.

Once she was sure the sounds of chains and crying had completely faded away, leaving only the lingering smell of blood from Lü Yiming and the faint sobs coming from Wang Yuqing's room, she slipped out.

Almost simultaneously, the door to Wen Baiqiu's room next door silently slid open a crack.

The "double happiness" character above was unveiled by a puppet controlled by the puppeteer. Wen Baiqiu stood in the shadows inside the door, his white suit still impeccably tailored.

His gaze was more solemn and profound than before, clearly indicating that he had also noticed the double happiness symbol on the door and the changes outside.

Across from them, Zhan Wenzhen pushed open the door and came out. His gaze behind his gold-rimmed glasses remained calm as he gave a very slight nod in the direction of Xiao Jin and Wen Baiqiu.

Chu Yuan's door was violently pushed open, and his burly figure blocked the doorway. His face was ashen, and his fierce eyes swept over the glaring bloodstains and half-broken double happiness character in front of Lü Yiming's door. He spat out a curse: "Damn it!"

"Idiot! Even Zhan Wenchen heard his warning, yet this person still dares to come out."

The group had clearly just finished dealing with the "double happiness" character in front of the door.

Lu Jing's door was tightly closed, and the sound of even, long breathing could be heard from inside, as if he were fast asleep. There was also no movement from Liu Man's side.

The four exchanged glances, needing no words. Their goal was the same—to infiltrate under cover of darkness and investigate the front hall and the heavily guarded restricted area!

Xiao Jin took the lead, his figure blending into the night like a raccoon, swiftly moving along the shadows of the corridor.

Amo shrank back and coiled around her wrist, her icy senses fully activated. Wen Baiqiu followed closely behind, her steps still carrying that ingrained elegance and composure, yet silent and unnoticed.

Zhan Wenchen sat in the center, his eyes sharp as a hawk, scanning every corner where clues might be hidden.

Chu Yuan, standing at the rear, was like a silent, raging bear, his muscles taut, ready to deal with any unexpected situation at any moment.

The old house is more eerie at night than during the day.

The lantern's light seemed to be absorbed by an invisible force, illuminating only a small area beneath one's feet.

The ubiquitous dark red "囍" characters peeked through the darkness like countless peering eyes. The air was cold and viscous, carrying a heavy, sweet, decaying scent, quickly covering and swallowing the bloody stench left behind by Lü Yiming.

They avoided the main corridor where the butler had been during the day, taking a detour along secluded paths. Their target was the front hall where the fire had occurred earlier that day and the areas the butler had forbidden them to approach.

The smell of burnt flesh still lingered, and the human skin was still hanging on the wooden stick in the courtyard.

A gust of wind blew by, and the human skin fluttered in the wind, making an eerie rustling sound.

The front hall was reduced to ruins by the fire, with only the side rooms on both sides barely surviving.

After entering the area, Xiao Jin separated from the others and searched through the ruins alone.

About half an hour later, Xiao Jin keenly discovered half a thread-bound booklet, gnawed by rats and stained with filth, in a corner of a side room where miscellaneous items were piled up.

She picked it up, carefully brushed away the dust, and, using the faint light reflected from the blade, quickly flipped through the tattered and brittle pages.
