Chapter 656 Whispers of the Night

"Coo...Coo-choo?"

She tentatively called out softly, her body no longer trembling. Instead, she took a small step forward, her ruby-like eyes fixed longingly on the remaining berries in Xiao Jin's hand.

Xiao Jin expressionlessly took out another whole Rainbow Berry and placed it in front of it.

"Goo-hoo!" It chirped happily and pounced on the berries, happily munching on them, completely forgetting its earlier fear. It even nuzzled Xiao Jin's fingertips with its little head in a pleading manner.

This time, however, it was Xiao Jin's turn to feel a little uncomfortable.

She felt the soft touch on her fingertips, and her arm stiffened involuntarily.

Compared to Amo's cold, sharp scales, these white downy hairs seemed so warm.

Then, Xiao Jin was generous. She fed all the props in her hand to the Cloud Rabbit one by one, and the rabbit accepted everything without hesitation, eating all the berries and moon grass.

Finally, they also took the bottle of Clear Spring Dew from Xiao Jin's hand.

[Ding! Mission: Soothe the adorable pet! Reward: 2000 points, 3 x Wooden Treasure Chests, 10 x Pet Feeding Pills!]

A notification sound plays.

The panda administrator was moved to tears by this scene, hugging his round belly and sobbing, "Waaah... my performance bonus is saved!"

"Thank you! You are a true friend of pets! A peacemaker in the animal kingdom!!" It wanted to rush up and give Xiao Jin a bear hug, but stopped awkwardly under the other's cold gaze.

Xiao Jin withdrew her fingers, which had been rubbed by the rabbit, and slowly stood up. However, she could still feel a strange, furry sensation lingering on her fingertips.

Xiao Jin then stuffed all the rewards into her backpack, while the ten [Pet Feeding Pills] that emitted an enticing meaty aroma were tossed into her pet bag to appease Amo.

Another task, done.

Xiao Jin glanced around; the other players were still frantically trying to figure it out.

A burly player was clumsily trying to groom a proud rainbow unicorn cub when the little unicorn kicked him in the face.

The female player with platinum blonde hair was holding dried fish and trying to please a haughty, shiny jellyfish, but the jellyfish sucked the dried fish in and then spat it out in disgust.

Several players were chased all over the place by the boisterous Corgis they were assigned to...

The entire park was in complete chaos, literally.

In comparison, although Xiao Jin arrived late, she was the first to complete the task!

Feeling Xiao Jin's icy gaze sweep over them, the players who were "fighting" with the cute pets suddenly felt immense pressure, and their movements became somewhat stiff.

The adorable pets they were assigned seemed to sense some kind of invisible "big boss pressure," and instantly became much more obedient, at least no longer daring to openly "make things difficult."

Xiao Jin calmly withdrew her gaze, no longer lingering, and turned to leave this battlefield that was too "fuzzy" for her.

————

The night was as dark as ink, and the Milky Way hung low.

The bustling "Seaside Dream" gradually quieted down during the day, leaving only the gentle lapping of the waves and the chirping of unknown insects from the depths of the jungle.

Xiao Jin sat cross-legged on the warm floor of the mushroom house, with the system inventory interface spread out in front of him.

Three pieces of [Deep Sea Silver] shimmering with the light of a deep-sea vortex, a warm and cool emerald green [Warm Jade], and scattered spirit stones and potions found later...

This is Xiao Jin's harvest today.

It wasn't particularly lucrative, but it was easy and relaxing.

On the other side, Amo perched on a specially made giant vine perch in the corner of the room, its black jade body, as thick as a bowl, gleaming faintly in the dim light.

Its scarlet vertical pupils were half-closed as it contentedly digested the food its owner had just fed it, occasionally letting out a satisfied "hiss".

Just as Xiao Jin was about to close the interface and rest, a faint, strange glow, like the shyest star, quietly appeared outside the arched window of the Mushroom House.

It wasn't moonlight, nor was it ordinary firefly light.

The light had a dreamy, blue-green hue, soft yet possessing an undeniable presence.

It was like a small, spiritual star, swaying gently outside the window, tracing a clear path pointing into the depths of the jungle, then pausing, as if waiting.

Xiao Jin: "Hmm?"

[Ding! Congratulations! You have triggered a hidden quest/special event: Whispers of the Night! Follow the starlight for guidance?]

Hidden quest?

Xiao Jin's eyes narrowed slightly.

This dungeon is full of surprises.

She glanced at Amo on the perch, who seemed to be attracted by the strange starlight, raising his head and flicking his tongue, conveying a sense of curiosity rather than wariness.

"Stay put," Xiao Jin whispered, getting up.

Without disturbing Amo, she quietly pushed open the wooden door of the mushroom house and stepped into the jungle, which was shrouded in night.

The forest at night is completely different from that during the day. Tall trees cast deep shadows, the air is moist and cool, and filled with the fresh scent of grass and trees and the fragrance of earth.

Beneath your feet lies a soft layer of humus, silent as you step on it.

Those dreamy starlight, like a loyal guide, floated lightly not far in front of Xiao Jin, illuminating the winding path beneath her feet, almost covered by vines.

The deeper one ventures, the brighter the starlight becomes, and the surrounding trees grow ever taller and older, their gnarled roots resembling sleeping dragons.

Finally, after passing through a clump of giant ferns covered with glowing moss, Xiao Jin's vision suddenly opened up.

It was a small platform hidden in the heart of the jungle, with smooth, polished dark rocks on the ground, and strange little flowers that shimmered along the edges.

In the center of the platform stands a natural, crescent-shaped, milky-white boulder.

What's most breathtaking is that the tree canopy overhead spreads out strangely here, forming a perfect circular skylight that pours down the vast and boundless Milky Way without reservation!

The silvery light flowed across the platform like mercury spilling onto the ground, a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

Beneath the flowing Milky Way, beside the crescent-shaped boulder, stood a figure standing quietly.

No longer was she wearing the dazzling purple velvet tuxedo from the bar; instead, she had changed into a well-tailored dark gray casual suit, with a simple black shirt underneath and the top two buttons of the collar casually undone.

Without the glitz and glamour of the stage and the mystique of the magician, Jian Yiqiu's figure appeared exceptionally tall and slender, yet carried an indescribable sense of loneliness and authenticity.

He tilted his head slightly, gazing at the Milky Way above, the lines of his profile appearing exceptionally soft and profound under the starlight.

Hearing footsteps, he slowly turned around.

Starlight fell into Jian Yiqiu's deep brown eyes, rippling out a gentle and profound vortex.

His gaze locked precisely on Xiao Jin, who emerged from the shadows, and a smile played on his lips.
