Ms. Ji pulled out a tissue to wipe her daughter's tears: "Well, all that college education was for nothing."
Xia Ning burst into laughter through her tears: "I'm 18 again, a beautiful flower."
Ms. Ji took a breath and delivered a powerful punch to her husband.
Xia's father was a little confused: "What?"
Ms. Ji said, "Look at your daughter, she's so radiant with just a little sunshine."
Xia's father: "..."
He does have that function!
-
Xia Ning has always had good self-regulation skills. Once she had talked things out, she stopped worrying and turned to explain the plot to her parents.
"Xie Tian's family is just a tool for the protagonist to bring him warmth. At first, they were doing alright because they had stockpiled some supplies in advance and their house was in a good location. But then they did something stupid and went outside to show off that they had surplus food. Not long after, they were tricked and froze to death in the snow. Later, their supplies became the starting capital for the male and female protagonists to win people's hearts."
However, now that the Xia family has arrived, the male and female protagonists can step aside!
Ms. Ji urged, "Quickly find the novel, let's study it together."
Knowing that the first wave of disaster was an earthquake, the family immediately crouched down in a corner after regaining their senses, their heads pressed together as they stared at a tablet computer.
Xia Ning looked at the names of the male and female protagonists again: "Jian Yuan... Shu Qilan... They sound so familiar."
Ms. Ji said speechlessly, "How could you not be familiar with the novels you've read?"
Xia Ning scratched her head: "Is that so?"
Ms. Ji rolled her eyes: "Otherwise what? Don't think about it. It's normal to feel a sense of déjà vu when you read a novel."
Xia's father chimed in, "That's right, it's better than being completely clueless."
Xia Ning looked at her mother on the left and her father on the right, nodded blankly, but something still felt off.
After reading the novel for about half an hour, Xia's father took out the original owner's phone, glanced at it, and pondered, "According to the book, there is still a week before the earthquake. Let's hurry up and stock up on another batch of supplies."
Ms. Ji rubbed her stiff neck, straightened her back, and said, "Yes, the doors and windows of this house also need to be replaced as soon as possible."
Traveling to a time before the apocalypse was a wonderful surprise. Xia Ning put the tablet back into her spatial storage and planned to continue watching with her parents that evening.
Then, something occurred to her. After glancing around, she asked with difficulty, "Where's my sister?"
Having just transmigrated, I received too much information to process it all at once. A quick glance revealed that the familiar white figure was gone.
They had already considered the Samoyed as part of the family and naturally assumed that the younger sister would come along. So here's the problem.
Do dogs dream?
As Xia Ning thought this, she saw her mother anxiously calling out from inside the room, "Sister, sister!"
Xia's father and Xia Ning also started moving.
Suddenly, a fluffy little white ball rushed out of the kitchen and lunged at Ms. Ji's arms, but because its legs were too short, it only reached her knees.
Ms. Ji was taken aback for a moment, then tentatively called out, "Little sister?"
The Pomeranian wagged its tail excitedly and barked, "Woof woof!"
Hey, the Samoyed has turned into a Pomeranian.
Looking at the little white ball, Xia Ning felt that strange feeling well up again.
Ms. Ji didn't care about anything else; she was overjoyed, just like Aunt Xue in "Dream of the Red Chamber" when she saw Baoyu, she hugged her younger sister and rubbed her for a while.
Okay, not only have they shrunk, but my little sister has also shrunk.
Xia Ning walked over and playfully patted the Pomeranian's hind leg: "Okay, still a tough guy."
Ms. Ji slapped him hard across the face: "Can't you act like a girl?" Then she glared at Mr. Xia, "Look at your daughter."
Xia's father felt wronged: "How come all the bad things are on me? Is genetic inheritance really that precise?"
Although Ms. Ji disliked her daughter, she adored her youngest son. She affectionately tapped the Pomeranian's little black nose and said, "Your little sister knows that things aren't easy for the family, so she deliberately shrunk down to save us food, didn't she?"
Tsk tsk tsk.
Xia Ning whispered to her father, "Listen, even the 'clamping' sound is coming out."
Xia's father looked up at the sky.
Alright, the family is finally complete. There's no time for sentimentality. If we really get started, even a week won't be enough.
Xia Ning reminded them to be careful of the butterfly effect, as many apocalyptic novels feature the setting of disasters occurring earlier than expected.
So they made a tight schedule for the six days, and spent the last day at home.
Xia's father sold off the original owner's stocks, withdrew all the money from the bank, and exchanged it for some gold. Money is still useful in the early stages of the apocalypse; if they can't return to their original world after the disaster, this money will be the foundation for them to rebuild their home.
Ms. Ji contacted a technician to install thicker tempered glass, replace all the doors and windows, and add a security door to the outside of the inner doors. The electrical wiring also needs to be modified so that they can connect to their home diesel generator or solar panels during power outages. The air conditioner needs to be replaced with one that is resistant to both high and low temperatures… They sold their old car to raise money, but they don't plan to sell their SUV; in fact, they plan to modify it…
When I get busy, there's always something to do.
The couple looked around and realized that this wasn't safe, and that needed to be modified.
During this time, the original owner's classmates, colleagues, and friends contacted him, but he refused to answer all of them. However, Xia's father would go to the security room at the gate and the property management office of the community every day to chat and smoke. Compared to the vague old classmates, these people were the real network of relationships.
Xia Ning.
Disliked by both sides.
Ms. Ji told her to leave: "Go help your dad, don't bother me."
Xia's father hurriedly said, "Her father doesn't need any help."
Xia Ning didn't feel disliked at all. She happily ran to the entrance, ready to take the rice from her father's hand.
“You don’t need to accept this,” Xia’s father dodged her hand. “These are all.”
