Sister: (>^ω^<) Meow
After having a cold breakfast, Xia Ning prepared to leave the apartment building and explore the outside world.
Small groups of zombies roamed the streets, each exuding a putrid stench. Their faces and necks bore the marks of torn flesh, and dried blood clung to their once fashionable and clean clothes.
When Xia Ning went down to the first floor, two zombies were banging on the door.
They tirelessly and mechanically rammed their broken skulls against the glass door, causing the sofa blocking the door to shake as well.
—Thump!
—Thump!
—Thump!
With a slow, rhythmic sound, a crack appeared on the glass.
Xia Ning knew that it wouldn't be long before the two pieces of glass shattered.
Instead of rushing out, she held up her binoculars to observe the zombies outside the door, as well as a few walking corpses wandering not far away.
She saw two zombies carrying backpacks. Good, hopefully there's something useful inside.
Xia Ning dragged the sofa away, kicked open the glass door, and the open glass door knocked down the two zombies that were trying to break in. Xia Ning didn't give them a chance to get up and finished them off with two blows.
She then spun around and swung the stick at the zombies that had been attracted.
Five minutes later.
Xia Ning casually tossed aside the baseball bat that was broken in half, picked up two backpacks, stepped over five corpses whose heads had turned to mush, and released [Phantom Princess's Car].
To Xia Ning's utter surprise, she heard a whistle as soon as she opened the car door.
A figure suddenly appeared at the second-floor window diagonally in front of them, whistling and waving excitedly at Xia Ning.
Xia Ning's first reaction was to get into the car, set up her crossbow, but she quickly got out of the car again with a strange expression.
Because she received a system notification.
—Congratulations to player Phantom Princess for triggering the side quest: Escorting a Pregnant Woman.
—Hidden message unlocked: Protecting the elderly, the infirm, the disabled, and pregnant women is everyone's responsibility.
Xia Ning got out of the car again and raised her binoculars. The person on the window became even more excited when he saw Xia Ning get out of the car, and half of his body was leaning out.
Xia Ning: =-=
It looks like a boy no matter how you look at it!
In an instant, Xia Ning's mind raced with thoughts. Could this be the legendary ABO world?
Three reproductive structures: ALPHA, BETA, and OMEGA. Six sexes: male a, male b, male o, female a, female b, and female o.
Therefore, men can also get pregnant.
Could radiation be the origin of humanity's entry into the ABO world?
Is she standing before the world's first pregnant male omega?
In an instant, Xia Ning's instincts as a third-rate writer triggered countless fanfiction scenarios in her mind.
However, she remained calm and walked steadily toward the detached house where the boy was.
The door to the first floor was destroyed, and there were three zombies inside, which Xia Ning dealt with easily.
The staircase leading to the second floor was blocked by various wardrobes, tables, and chairs, clearly the work of the boy waving from the window.
Xia Ning moved the roadblocks one by one, and a slightly hoarse male voice came from above.
"You're the person sent by the embassy to pick us up, right? I knew our motherland wouldn't abandon us!"
"Sigh, they wouldn't listen to me and insisted on running off on their own. I don't know how they are now."
"You're a superhuman, aren't you? I just saw you conjure a car out of thin air!"
Xia Ning paused, lowered her head, and moved the chair without saying a word. He seemed to have a very logical and self-consistent way of thinking.
The boy who claimed to be one of their own started moving obstacles from upstairs, chattering incessantly as he did so.
“I said, hiding in the basement and waiting for the rescue team is too passive. What if the rescue team doesn’t find us and leaves again?”
"Look, I told you yesterday I was going out to check things out, and here you are today!"
Xia Ning deliberately moved slowly, thinking to herself that his voiceover implied there were other survivors.
Sure enough, the boy spoke up quickly.
“Let’s go back and meet up with Sister Meimi. Although she’s a foreigner, she’s a good person. If she hadn’t risked her life to take me in, I would have starved to death long ago. Besides, she’s pregnant, and we can’t abandon her out of humanitarian spirit.”
"Right, we're a great nation..."
Xia Ning ignored what followed, and as soon as she heard the word "pregnant woman," she immediately quickened her pace.
So that's where the key person was waiting.
The talkative boy is just a side character, a guide NPC.
Once Xia Ning exerted her strength, her subsequent speed became extremely fast.
The boy, with black hair, black eyes, and a dusty face, gave Xia Ning a half-hearted salute upon seeing her, then gave her a thumbs up and said, "So you're a female soldier. Ah, I don't mean to say that female special forces soldiers are bad; I mean that women are just as capable as men."
Xia Ning didn't care at all about being mistaken for a soldier. She had a natural admiration for soldiers, and the fact that the other party would misunderstand proved that her fitness efforts hadn't been in vain.
Xia Ning thought for a moment and said, "I'm not a soldier, I'm a mercenary."
Mercenaries forcibly recruited by the dog's scheme.
The boy was taken aback for a moment, then whistled and clapped his hands: "So cool, it's like playing a game!"
Xia Ning glanced at him; she was playing a game, but he might not be.
The talkative boy didn't even need Xia Ning to coax him out of anything; he just pulled out his household registration booklet without hesitation.
His name is Xiong Xue. He just turned eighteen this year. He's not an international student; he's just here for tourism. Unfortunately, he encountered a major virus outbreak.
Xiong Xue didn't know the specific virus either, as his foreign language skills were only so-so.
The kid sighed, "I was thinking of calling the police if anything happened, but when I got to the police station, I saw the police fighting with thugs who wanted to take over the station. I didn't dare go near them. I used to think movies and TV shows exaggerated things, but it's really like this. We hid in the hotel for two days, and things outside got weirder and weirder. There were no official regulations, and no one was maintaining order. The first person in our tour group who died wasn't bitten by a zombie, but was robbed and killed."
