Day 3, Divine Messenger

It was forced to drink the [basic antidote].

After much deliberation, Xia Ning decided to give her younger sister a bottle of medicine, but who knew if her sister might have eaten something inappropriate on the first day when she wasn't paying attention.

[Basic Antidote] It's not very effective on humans, but it might work on birds. Anyway, just buy it for peace of mind.

Xia Ning, feeling touched by her own words, said, "I'm such a person with a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Look how good I am to you. I plucked a feather from you and saved your life. It's like I've received a great debt of gratitude."

Little sister: "Coo coo!"

Xia Ning: "Right, you agree too."

Little sister: "Coo coo!"

Xia Ning: "Mmm, no need to be so touched."

Sister: ( ̄Θ ̄) I'm not going to procrastinate anymore.

After finishing her dinner, Xia Ning wiped her mouth, looked at the sky, and felt that she could now issue a new divine decree to Greta.

As one of the chosen ones, Greta should also take action.

Xia Ning put on a pair of lake-blue colored contact lenses, a long, straight black wig, and wore a gray hooded cloak with a black veil covering her face.

Oh, right, also sprinkle some unisex perfume on yourself, something gentle and light with a long-lasting finish.

Then... go outside and wait to be bumped into!

-

The entire misty town was eerily quiet, resembling a ghost town even during the day.

Under the cover of night.

Greta picked up an oil lamp and tiptoed toward the door. After talking with the priest, Greta gained a new understanding of her mission.

As she walked down the stairs, the dilapidated wooden staircase creaked, like an old man.

Greta was startled; she swore she heard her father grumbling downstairs.

However, the father seemed exhausted from the day's patrol work. Upon hearing the noise, he simply rubbed his eyes, glanced sleepily at the panicked Greta, murmured "Oh, it's you," and lay back down. Soon, the room was filled with snoring again.

Greta swallowed hard, quietly closed the door, and ran quickly outside.

God said that the messenger of the gray fog would accompany her and protect her on her journey.

Greta was skeptical until she saw an owl perched in the middle of the road.

Before the fog enveloped the area, little Greta often went on picnics and fruit picking with her mother at the edge of the forest. She had seen many small animals, but she had never seen an owl with such clear eyes.

Moonlight filtered through the thin mist and fell upon the red-haired girl, whose complex expression of surprise and excitement was captured in her large, round eyes.

Day 3

Midnight has passed.

Xia Ning encountered the same girl she had seen from afar once again.

Greta was clearly stunned by Xia Ning's appearance. She stammered, "God... Divine Envoy..."

“Be careful what you say,” Xia Ning interrupted her. “I am not a divine messenger. I am just one of the divine messengers’ servants in the human world. You are the second person chosen by the incarnation of the gray mist.”

"Me, me, what merit do I possess?"

Even though she was mentally prepared, Greta was still extremely uneasy.

Xia Ning patiently persuaded her: "Believe in yourself, you are the chosen one."

Greta followed her gaze and looked up: "God, Divine Envoy?"

“That’s right,” Xia Ning affirmed. “He is the embodiment of the gray mist, possessing a holy body, the source of glory, and the messenger of God.”

Greta felt a spark ignite deep within her soul, a tingling sensation flowing from her fingertips to her scalp.

I see, I see!

Yes, how could humans who have betrayed the gods be qualified to become apostles of the gray fog?

She bowed respectfully before the glory bestowed by God.

"My lord, please help me find my way and a way to survive."

Divine Messenger Sister: (`?Θ?)?

"Gurgle~ Gurgle~"

“God has His own mission,” Xia Ning said without changing her expression. “Let’s go, let’s solve your first problem first.”

Greta looked at her in surprise: "You already knew?!"

Xia Ning didn't know.

However, how could one not have troubles living in this wretched place?

Greta led the way, her mind a jumble of thoughts. Sometimes she worried about her lack of strength, sometimes she was delighted with her new identity, and occasionally she thought of Lauren, who had disappeared without a trace.

The night breeze rustled through the leaves, carrying the faint scent of Xia Ning's perfume to Greta's nostrils.

Greta glanced furtively at the gray-robed figure behind her, feeling that the fragrance was like a drop of morning dew on a leaf, or the faint light emanating from the morning mist, both soothing and frightening.

She couldn't help but look again at the gray mist avatar flying in mid-air.

Behind the owl is a dim sky.

The place was once ablaze with starlight, but now the Milky Way is like a jewel covered in dust.
