Although the pieces of meat had been processed, he could still tell that they were human corpses.
Dozens of human corpses were hanging high up like pork.
"Are you eating people?"
Su Lin's cold gaze swept across the crowd, who stared at him in terror, not daring to answer.
The men also lowered their heads, remaining silent and embarrassed.
"They...all volunteered to be eaten..."
There were whispers in the crowd, but Su Lin's gaze swept across the crowd without finding anyone speaking.
"That's ridiculous."
Su Lin shook his head, not expecting such nonsense to exist among NPCs.
Driven to extreme hunger, a scene of cannibalism unfolded.
Of course, he had no interest in acting as a righteous messenger to punish these NPCs; he forced them to open the shop simply out of curiosity about what was inside.
No wonder these NPCs are trapped here. Apart from being listless, they all look rosy-cheeked. It turns out they have meat to eat every meal.
Now that he knows the truth, Su Lin is too lazy to pursue the matter further.
More than these trivial matters, he cared about when he would successfully escape.
"Um?"
Just as Su Lin was about to turn and leave, he suddenly stopped.
He turned his head to look into the shop, his gaze landing on the depths of one of the rooms. From a pile of messy corpses that had not yet been dealt with, there seemed to be faint shouts coming from inside.
"Are there still people alive?"
Su Lin frowned. He stepped into the shop, stepping over the broken ice and severed limbs scattered on the floor, and approached the pile of stinking corpses.
He used his Tang sword to push aside the corpse at the top and saw a small, thin figure hiding in the corner.
"Help...help me..."
This is a child, who looks to be about ten years old, slumped against the cold wall, his hair disheveled, his clothes dirty and tattered, his eyes listless and vacant as he stares ahead.
The child didn't even see Su Lin approaching; his eyes were stiff, and he made weak cries for help, his mouth moving up and down.
"Someone...someone save me..."
blind?
A blind little girl.
Su Lin scrutinized the scene before him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
He noticed that there were two lines of information above the girl's head that could only be seen by survivors.
[Rank A Follower - Not recruited.]
[A recruitable follower has been discovered; complete the recruitment quest to obtain one.]
"She's a servant?"
"A child, actually a follower who can help the survivors?"
Su Lin was surprised. Ever since he obtained the Follower Manual, he had repeatedly thought about the [Follower] mechanism in the escape game.
He had considered countless possibilities, but he never imagined that the first attendant he would encounter would be a child!
Heaven knows why a child would have an A-level follower rating!
"Bang!!"
Suddenly, the shop door behind Su Lin slammed shut; the reinforced iron door was extremely heavy.
Almost instantly, the road to the outside world was sealed off. As the door closed, the excited shouts of several men could be faintly heard from outside.
"He's been locked up! He's dead!"
"Damn it, what are you pretending for, brat! Let's see how we beat him to a pulp!"
"Wait until he dies! Then eat him! He'll be the first one we eat!"
The group of NPCs cheered once again, but Su Lin just silently glanced back at the iron gate, his face expressionless.
He had anticipated this as soon as he entered. These NPCs had no idea how sharp their Tang swords were; a mere iron gate couldn't possibly hold Su Lin back.
Su Lin ignored the cheers of the NPCs outside. His gaze returned to the girl, and he moved closer, squatted down, and reached out to touch her.
"Who...who are you?"
The girl sensed someone approaching and curled up in terror, desperately trying to hide deeper into the corpse: "Don't eat me...please...Linlin will be good! She'll definitely be good!"
"Don't be afraid, I'm here to save you."
Su Lin pondered how to trigger the follower's quest. Although she was just a little girl, she was still the first follower he had encountered.
Judging from the follower ratings provided by the map information, from SSS to F, this girl's A rating isn't too low, making her worth a try for Su Lin.
At least it's the first follower you encounter; successfully recruit them and accumulate relevant experience.
Su Lin tried her best to soften her voice, but the girl was too terrified and ignored her, constantly hiding from her.
Su Lin frowned, then reached out and pulled, forcibly dragging the girl out and half-hugging her in his arms.
"Don't be afraid, I can save you. Be quiet."
Before Su Lin could finish speaking, he suddenly groaned and looked down.
The girl bit his arm hard, her bite was very fierce, but her weak strength could only make Su Lin feel a little pain, leaving only two teeth marks on his skin.
Su Lin raised an eyebrow, did not stop him, and waited silently.
The girl did not experience violence or being torn apart. She seemed to understand that the person in front of her did not intend to hurt her.
She slowly released her mouth, weakly raised her head to meet Su Lin's gaze. Her empty eyes, hidden beneath her disheveled hair, reflected Su Lin's image, but she couldn't see it.
All she could feel was the face of the person in front of her.
"Who...who are you?"
The girl's voice grew weaker and weaker. Su Lin took out a treatment drug and a stimulant from his backpack and injected them into the girl's arm to perform a simple treatment.
"Ouch...it hurts!"
"Bear with it, I'll get you out of here."
Su Lin spoke softly, then paused for a moment before whispering, "I am a survivor. If we want to escape from here, I will take you with me."
"But before that, you should tell me what you need me to do?"
"What...do I need you for?"
The girl looked up somewhat confusedly. Her pale face was visibly flushed, indicating that the medicine was taking effect. Her spirits were slightly lifted, and her voice became smoother.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Are you from the rescue team?"
The girl lowered her head and tightly gripped Su Lin's sleeve: "My mother said to wait for rescue... I don't need you to do anything, just take me out of here."
"If possible, could you please save my mother?"
"Can."
Without saying a word, Su Lin nodded in agreement, but after waiting for a while, he still didn't see the mission prompt appear in front of him.
Could it be that follower recruitment quests are not displayed?
Su Lin frowned, but before he could ask, the girl suddenly started sobbing. Su Lin felt his arm getting wet, and he asked softly, "Hey, where is your mother?"
"My name is Linlin, Xiao Linlin, my mom calls me Linlin."
"Okay, Linlin, where's your mother?"
"She is dead."
Xiao Linlin said softly, "I just remembered, she died, she was eaten by people outside."
The moment she uttered those words.
Su Lin saw it; a message notification appeared before his eyes.
Recruitment mission triggered.
