"Damn! We made too much noise just now, and the zombies outside are about to come in!"
"Damn it, get up and block this damn door! What the hell, why are zombies causing trouble at this hour!"
"Old Li, keep an eye on upstairs, don't let that team steal from us."
"No need, no need! There are too many zombies. Old Li, come and help. Don't worry about the team upstairs."
“They can’t hear anything coming from the first floor, and even if they could, they might still think we’re one of their own.”
The three people downstairs, startled and panicked, launched a new battle. The roars of the zombies were mixed with the angry shouts of the humans, making quite a commotion.
But the entire school was covered by zombies, and similar sounds were everywhere, making it extremely difficult for ordinary people to distinguish them.
Song Daqiang and Anna didn't realize that Su Lin's physical abilities had been greatly enhanced by his talent, and his wariness accumulated from years of fighting allowed him to see through the malicious intentions of the three people downstairs in advance.
"This is a good opportunity."
Su Lin squinted his eyes. He took advantage of the chaos downstairs to get closer, and then used the shadows in the stairwell to hide his figure, gathering information from downstairs in a standard tactical posture.
Downstairs, there were three men, one middle-aged and two young, who were holding long weapons and fighting off the zombies rushing in from outside.
There were five or six zombies, but the men, taking advantage of the broken iron gate in the stairwell, were not afraid of their attacks.
However, because they were so focused on guarding against the zombies, they forgot to guard against the stairwell behind them.
After confirming that no one had noticed him, Su Lin silently pulled out his pistol.
"Knowing there were people upstairs, why didn't they arrange for someone to keep watch?"
"You died from carelessness..."
"Da! Da! Da!"
"Da! Da! Da!"
Su Lin decisively pulled the trigger, firing three rounds in quick succession, aiming at the head and back respectively.
Bullets gushed out, hitting their targets precisely amidst the flashes of fire.
"Bang! Bang!"
The two youths' heads exploded like watermelons, and their bodies collapsed limply.
"scare!"
Warm blood sprayed onto the middle-aged man's body. He was immediately terrified, his eyes wide as he looked around, watching helplessly as the headless bodies of his two companions lay in pools of blood.
Distraction on the battlefield is a fatal mistake, and in that brief moment, Su Lin saw through the effect of the man's talent.
"Pistol bullets have no effect on him!"
Su Lin's visual perception was greatly enhanced. He had just witnessed two bullets hit the man's head and back, but they were deflected by an invisible force and did not cause any damage.
Without a doubt, this is absolutely a man's innate ability.
In that instant, Su Lin's mind raced, and combat intelligence was being meticulously pieced together.
"Based on their conversation, the three people's talents correspond to the three categories of [weapon crafting], [healing], and [combat], respectively."
"Then the survivor is most likely a [Combat] talent user, and the corresponding combat effect is most likely related to [Defense]."
"Who?! Who is it?!"
The man had woken up and was shouting in panic, turning around to look at his surroundings, but there was no sign of any enemy.
Only the howling of zombies kept pushing their way through the iron gate could be heard; there were no other people in sight.
"What the hell?"
"No, it can't be! They're dead!"
He was so helpless, his eyes wide as he swung his spear wildly, trying to fend off the zombies while searching for enemies lurking in the shadows.
But he didn't even know that his teammate had died from a pistol bullet, so how could he possibly find the enemy's hiding place?
As ordinary people who have never handled firearms, it is impossible for them to gather useful information in the chaotic battlefield in the first instance.
"Who is it?! I see you! Come out!!"
Instinct told the man that his teammate had died from an attack from behind, but when he roared toward the stairwell, he received no response.
The dark stairwell, like the gaping maw of a wild beast, lay open calmly, without a trace of any living creature.
Is it somewhere else?
The man's mouth dropped open as he nervously and fearfully scanned his surroundings, including the windows on both sides of the first floor, the gap outside the iron gate, and even the ceiling above his head.
"Da da da!! Da da da!!"
Suddenly, a burst of gunfire came from deep within the corridor.
Su Lin, who had been hiding, stood up again. Taking advantage of the moment when the man looked away, he grabbed his rifle and fired wildly from his high vantage point!
No longer concealing his figure, he exposed most of his body, his left hand steadily pressing the gun, the barrel spitting fire, and rifle bullets roaring as they rushed towards the man's body from both sides.
"Clang clang clang! Clang clang clang!"
The sound of bullets bouncing off echoed all over the walls on the first floor. Su Lin could see clearly that the rifle bullets hitting the man's body created layers of transparent ripples.
Amidst the ripples, rifle bullets were ejected one after another.
But the man wasn't unharmed either. Although there was no blood on him, he let out a painful scream: "Aaaaah! Damn it! Damn it!"
"It hurts! It hurts!"
The man screamed in agony, waving his spear in an attempt to stop the bullets, but it was to no avail.
Even though he had realized that the enemy was coming from behind, his lack of combat experience meant that he had no means of counterattack other than jumping around and dodging.
He couldn't even find cover to hide in for a while, and could only scream in agony as he dodged the bullets.
Something's not right!
While rapidly firing to suppress the enemy, Su Lin quickly analyzed the enemy's feedback in his mind: "The dull pain after a rifle bullet hits a human body lasts for at least one second. Considering the effect of human stress hormones, the pain is significantly suppressed in the first 5 seconds."
