Chapter Eighty His Courtyard

Xu Nuo said nonchalantly, "Su Zhao needed to see Luo Chen, so I brought him along."

Li Xian kept walking without responding. Xu Nuo gave him a strange look, but he pursed his lips, turned his face away, and still didn't say anything.

Although he wasn't usually very talkative, Xu Nuo still felt something was off about him, so she tilted her head to look at him and asked, "What's wrong?"

She reached out and poked his waist, but her hand was immediately grabbed. Li Xian brushed aside the grass on the mountainside and shook his head at her: "No."

After thinking for a moment, I turned to her and asked, "Are you hungry?"

Xu Nuo shook her head and said "no," her tone rising at the end, sounding incredibly playful, as she complained, "I ate too much this morning, and I felt really uncomfortable on the bus."

Li Xian knew she didn't like riding tractors, so he placed his large hand on the back of her head, gently rubbed it, and asked her in a low voice, "Are you dizzy?"

"It's okay, I just feel really nauseous." As they spoke, the two arrived at their destination. Xu Nuo's gaze fell on the courtyard gate, and she looked up at him in surprise: "You planted something?"

Outside Li Xian's house was a large open space, which was originally bare and lifeless.

Now every spot has been leveled and filled with soil; some have been put on scaffolding, and others have been covered with black cloth.

I planted quite a lot of things.

In the past, Li Xian's father was often criticized and struggled against. People would come to his door every few days to shout for him to be beaten. Therefore, he stopped planting anything at home. Anyway, if he planted anything, it would be kicked out and wasted his effort.

Last time, Xu Nuo complained that his yard was too empty and that it would be nice to plant something. Li Xian kept that in mind and took the time to plant everything a couple of days ago. He didn't expect her to react so strongly. Her big eyes were sparkling, and she was very excited. Li Xian's heart skipped a beat. He nodded, reached out to open the door for her, and replied, "I found someone else to exchange some seeds, and they're all planted."

Xu Nuo didn't go inside. She ran to the shelf and stared at it curiously. There were some small vines wrapped around the wooden shelf, which were lush and green. She poked the small leaves and asked, "What is this?"

"It's a young melon, I don't know if it will grow well."

Upon hearing this, Xu Nuo was extremely proud, her little tail practically wagging in the air: "Don't worry, with me here, they will all grow up to be fine."

Li Xian's cold and hard expression softened a bit. He hummed in agreement and walked to her side, shielding her from the scorching sun. Xu Nuo shook his arm and said, "Go get some water. I need to water them."

He glanced at the sun and said, "I'll take care of it. You go and rest."

Xu Nuo shook her head and pushed him, "Hurry up."

"Okay." Li Xian turned around and went inside to scoop out some water. Thinking that she was not strong, he poured out half a ladleful and lightly handed it to her. Xu Nuo happily held the water and said to him, "Go boil some water, I'm thirsty."

Once Li Xian went inside, she secretly added water from the flowers and plants, and then watered the soil little by little.

Li Xian was inside starting a fire and pouring water when he suddenly heard Xu Nuo call his name. He quickly ran out, his voice tinged with urgency: "What's wrong?"

Xu Nuo squatted by the shelf like a radish stump, holding an empty ladle and saying to him, "There's no water."

Li Xian walked over to get the ladle, his gaze falling on the wet patch of ground under the shelf, and he paused for a moment.

Xu Nuo had never grown anything before, and she watered the plants entirely based on her mood. She didn't know that you can't overwater, or the roots would drown. She poured the half-ladle of water that Li Xian had given her under the shelf. Seeing that Li Xian didn't move, she looked up curiously: "What's wrong?"

"No." He shook his head. "I'll go get some water."
