Chapter Fifty-Seven: I Like You

Soon, the water started bubbling and steaming, casting a mist over the small kitchen.

Xu Nuo obediently sat on the stool to soak her feet, occasionally blowing on the wound on her knee. She put her hands on it and waited for a long time, but not much herbal water came out.

It seems we've run out of water for the plants.

Li Xian came in carrying some things, his clothes soaking wet again. Seeing Xu Nuo looking at her hands, he assumed she had injured them, so he put down his things and came over: "What's wrong?"

Xu Nuo shook her head, reached out and tugged at his sleeve, saying, "Li Xian, I want to take a shower."

She fell into the pit, getting covered in mud and water. If she didn't take a bath soon, she felt like she would turn into a mud ball.

Li Xian glanced at the boiling water. He had just gone to get her the wooden bucket. Hearing this, he turned around to get the bucket and scoop up the water, saying, "I'll help you carry the water in."

His hair was wet, and when he turned around, water splashed onto Xu Nuo's face.

"Ugh." Xu Nuo's little face scrunched up like a bitter gourd as she wiped her face with her hand, her voice carrying a slightly affected sob: "Li Xian, you tricked me."

Li Xian's usually emotionless eyes showed a hint of helplessness as he explained, "I didn't, I... I was careful."

He steadied her and said softly, "I'll help you get the water, you go wash."

Xu Nuo then gave a satisfied "hmm," and braced herself on the stool with both hands to lift her foot. But as soon as she lifted her foot, she realized she had no shoes. She swung her foot and called out to him again, "Li Xian, where are my shoes?"

Li Xian was scooping water when he heard this and turned to look at her. He felt a rush of blood to his head, his eyes darkened, and he turned his face away and handed her the cloth.

She crossed her two fair legs, rolled up her trouser legs to her thighs, and swayed back and forth, half-lying and half-leaning.

She is already so beautiful it's tempting to commit crimes, and she's so alluring without even realizing it.

A complex emotion flickered in the man's eyes, and a surge of anger welled up within him for some unknown reason. She was so unguarded with others; what would happen if she acted like this in front of others? He said urgently, "A young lady shouldn't act like this in public."

Xu Nuo stood with her legs propped up high, half-dead from supporting herself on the chair. She stretched out her hand, trying to reach the cloth in his hand, but couldn't. Seeing him standing far away like a block of wood, talking some strange nonsense, she said coquettishly, "Why are you standing so far away? Come closer."

Li Xian's forehead veins throbbed. He took a deep breath, turned his head, and handed it to her.

She took it, perhaps afraid of aggravating her knee injury, and instead of bending over, she stretched out her arm to wipe her feet, almost falling off the chair.

Li Xian watched from the side, feeling both amused and annoyed. What a lazy cat, it wouldn't even bend over.

He sighed, walked over, took the cloth from her hand, knelt down beside her, and draped the cloth over his thigh.

Then she very readily put her two little feet up.

His breathing quickened, and his eyes darkened.

She was petite, and he could lift her up with one hand. Her feet were small, white and tender like a small jade lotus root, with five exquisitely carved toes.

And it's always mischievously moving around.

The rough cloth wrapped around her small feet, and the warmth spread from her palms throughout her body. Li Xian felt a tingling, aching sensation in his heart, as if it were about to burst forth.

Xu Nuo exclaimed "Ah!" and he quickly looked up: "What's wrong?"

She gasped for breath, her large eyes brimming with tears: "It hurts."

Are you injured?

Li Xian moved the cloth aside, held it in his palm, and looked up at her. His voice was somewhat deep: "It's blistered."

Perhaps my feet are too tender, and I overdid it today. The blisters turned into small blood blisters, embedded on my white jade-like feet, like a few bright red blood pearls.

Xu Nuo stood on tiptoe, wanting to take a look, but Li Xian knew she would be frightened if she saw it, so he grabbed her foot and pulled it back.

This attempt to cover up the truth only made things worse. Xu Nuo stared at him with a puzzled look. He was so taken aback by her innocent yet curious gaze that his hands trembled. He swallowed hard and said, "Don't look."

Xu Nuo looked like she was about to cry, her voice trembling with fear: "My foot is disfigured?"

Her tearful appearance was enough to move anyone in the world. His breathing became heavier, and his grip tightened: "No, you're not disfigured."

"Ouch, that hurts." She cried out in a delicate voice, and Li Xian quickly let go. The slippery touch slipped away as fast as silk.

She quickly pulled her foot back, grinning smugly. She peeked her head out from side to side, determined to see, and muttered, "Then why won't you let me see?"

He looked down as he spoke.

A moment later, Xu Nuo's delicate crying came from the quiet kitchen: "Waaaaah, my feet hurt so much, I have so many blisters, waaaaah."

Li Xian felt both pity and amusement. She just stared blankly at her feet, then suddenly her little mouth twitched, and she cried out in pain.

What a delicate little thing! Just one look from her is enough to make someone cry. He took a step forward, covered her face with his large hand to stop her from looking, and whispered, "Don't look, I'll go find you some medicine."

Xu Nuo lowered her head, sobbing aggrievedly, and cried out, "I'm seriously injured."

Li Xian squatted down beside her feet, looking at her heartbroken appearance, and awkwardly comforted her by tilting his head up: "Okay, I'll help you find medicine."

Afraid that she would keep staring, he picked her up and carried her into the room, put her on a stool, and then went to the kitchen to prepare water for her and brought it in.

She was wringing the towel in a coquettish manner. He glanced at her, reached out and wrung the towel out for her, then handed it to her.

The rain hadn't stopped outside, and the sky was dark, so naturally nothing could be seen inside the room.

Li Xian lit a candle, and the faint light illuminated the room, contrasting with the howling wind and rain outside.

"Li Xian." A soft, sweet voice rang out, tinged with a hint of hesitation and fear.

"I'm here, don't be afraid."

Li Xian stood outside the door, watching the water cascading down from the eaves, his eyebrows and eyes as dark as ink, patiently responding to the person inside.

Upon hearing the answer, Xu Nuo's fear subsided somewhat, and the dim candlelight no longer seemed so eerie.

Without noticing, the towel touched the injury on my knee, and I immediately felt a sharp pain that brought tears to my eyes.

"What happened? Did you fall?" Li Xian's voice rang out from outside the door, sounding somewhat anxious.

Xu Nuo gasped for breath and said, "No, I aggravated my wound."

She hugged her knees and breathed heavily twice.

After a while, Xu Nuo's voice came: "I'm ready, you can come in now."

As soon as the bolt was moved, wind and rain rushed in along with the man's figure, and the candle went out instantly.

Afraid that the rain would hit her, he closed the door behind him, strode over, scooped her up, and quickly led her to the kitchen.

She had washed her hair; it was still wet, and water droplets dripped down the ends.

Li Xian poured her some ginger tea, then turned and said, "Dry your hair."

Xu Nuo wiped her hair with a towel for a couple of seconds until her hands ached, then she put the towel down. Anyway, she was sitting in front of the fire, and the fire would dry her hair quickly.

Seeing Li Xian looking at her disapprovingly, she smiled and said, "It'll be dry in a bit."

Li Xian handed her the cooled ginger tea, letting her hold it to warm her hands. Afraid she wouldn't drink it because it wasn't cold enough, he whispered, "You can drink it now."

He picked up the towel she had tossed aside, walked to the stove, and twisted it in the opposite direction with both hands.

Not much water came out.

Li Xian looked at her hair and frowned.

Li Xian was handsome and dashing, but his cold and hard features were excessive. When he stood there without smiling, he was really quite intimidating. However, Xu Nuo wasn't afraid of him. Perhaps it was because he was always obedient to her, which made her overlook his true nature.

When he frowned, Xu Nuo became a little scared. Her eyes darted around, and she didn't dare to look at him. Holding the bowl, she mumbled in a coquettish tone, "I, I'm tired from wiping."

She tossed her hair, leaned her head out at him like a curious kitten, and said, "How about you twist it for me?"

Like wringing out a towel.

Li Xian tightened his grip on the towel, his breathing became heavier, he closed his eyes briefly, and silently walked behind her.

He gently gathered her wet hair with great patience and just the right amount of force, and Xu Nuo closed her eyes comfortably.

Suddenly, I heard his slightly cold voice from above: "Can anyone else do it too?"

Xu Nuo, confused, looked up at him with bright, watery eyes and asked, "Huh?"

It's charming and adorable, with ginger tea on its little mouth, its pink lips moist and so beautiful that you just want to pick it.

Li Xian's eyes seemed thick and misty as he stared intently at her, saying, "Have other men dried your hair too?"

Xu Nuo's mind went blank for a moment under his gaze, and she answered blankly, "Yeah, it's just drying my hair, what's wrong with that?"

In the 21st century, hair salons are everywhere. She's too lazy to wash her hair herself, so she goes to the salon. Most of the hairdressers there are men.

Xu Nuo didn't know which words had angered Li Xian, but she felt the atmosphere around her change. Before she could bring her head back down, her chin was suddenly held by someone. The man's fingertips were strong, and she couldn't break free.

A warm breath wafted over me, carrying his unique hormonal scent and a faint aroma of soap leaves.

The oppressive atmosphere made Xu Nuo feel suffocated.

Then, his slightly warm lips pressed quickly against her soft, rosy lips.

His kisses, like him, were wild and untamed.

His eyes, slightly upturned at the corners, held a beastly glint of anger as he stared at her. His voice was strangely hoarse as he gritted his teeth: "Like this? Is that acceptable?"

Xu Nuo was stunned. She blinked her big eyes in a daze, then fanned herself rapidly, her eyes slightly red.

Like ink mixed with water, it spreads and diffuses.

She tilted her head back and cried pitifully, "You kissed me? Waaaaaah, you're bullying me, waaaaah!"

She cried so hard and felt so wronged that most of the anger in Li Xian's eyes dissipated instantly, leaving only helplessness and pity.

She was holding the bowl in her hands, almost unable to drop it, so Li Xian took the bowl from her and squatted down in front of her.

"I..." He clenched his teeth, his fingertips trembling as he pressed her tears to the ground. His usually cold and sharp eyes were red, and his lips trembled as he said, "I wasn't bullying you..."

Seeing that he was still acting aggrieved, Xu Nuo became even more indignant and retorted, "You are! You kiss people indiscriminately, you big pervert..."

He restrained her flailing hands, stared into her eyes, and said seriously, word by word, "I didn't kiss you randomly."

His eyes were red, his face was red, and he was breathing heavily when he said in a hoarse voice, "I like you."
