Li Xian put his arms behind his back, not wanting her to see, and shook his head: "It's nothing."
Seeing her reach out, he pursed his lips and quickly stepped back, his voice a little embarrassed: "No, it'll get your hands dirty."
Xu Nuo glared at him angrily, then boldly pressed her hand directly onto his wound.
The wound was already deep and long, and the flesh was almost torn apart. He gritted his teeth and groaned, and sweat instantly appeared on his forehead. Seeing her brows furrow slightly, he quickly said, "It's okay, it doesn't hurt, um."
With a cold expression, she vigorously rubbed his wound and applied some floral water.
Li Xian didn't know why she was unhappy. He thought it was because he was too disheveled, or because his blood had dirtied her hands. He said helplessly, "There's water ahead. I'll take you to wash your hands."
Xu Nuo was initially angry, thinking that he was taking himself too lightly, still acting tough despite his injury. But when she heard what he said, she was so angry that she laughed. She reached out and wiped her hands on his clothes, accidentally touching his waist. He recoiled slightly.
Xu Nuo's eyes were filled with worry.
It turns out he also injured his waist.
She looked up at him and said seriously, "Let's go to the hospital."
Li Xian's Adam's apple bobbed, and he said with pale lips, "No need, I..."
He thought it would be fine in a few days, something that had happened before. Suddenly, he noticed that the smile had vanished from her face, and even her lips were tightly pursed as she stared at him, as if if he shook his head, her misty eyes would start to rain.
Li Xian's mind went blank for a moment, and he lost all reason.
As if possessed, he raised his hand, his cool fingertips touching the corner of her mouth, and bent his knees to look her in the eye.
He compromised, saying, "Don't be angry."
Xu Nuo then looked up at him and gave a muffled "hmm".
The tractor wouldn't arrive until the afternoon, so Xu Nuo went back with Li Xian. He needed to put his prey back, and he also needed to take money to the hospital.
Xu Nuo had assumed that the prey in his hands was some ordinary mountain produce, such as wild rabbits or pheasants, but when he saw its true form, he was stunned.
"This...this is a leopard?"
Li Xian nodded.
He went into the mountains last night and encountered a mountain leopard. Luckily, he brought a knife, otherwise he would have died on the mountain.
Seeing her fright, he endured the pain from his wounds and dragged the leopard to a corner. Because of the exertion, his face turned even paler.
Xu Nuo took out a water bottle from her bag, not caring that she had already drunk some herself, and quickly handed it to his lips: "Drink it all, quick."
He wanted to shake his head, but was afraid of upsetting her, so he took the drink and drank it in two gulps. As the liquid slid down his throat, the pain in his body eased a bit.
He knew what she had given him to drink, and looked down at her with a dark gaze.
Xu Nuo told him to change his clothes, otherwise he would scare people if he went out like that. He nodded, carried a bucket of water to the room, washed himself, and changed into clean clothes.
Behind the crossbow bolt was a loose brick. He took it down, took out a bundle of money from it, and put it in his pocket.
When he came out, Xu Nuo was sitting outside holding a water cup. When she saw him come over, she handed him the water cup and said, "Li Xian, have some more water."
Li Xian's gaze fell on her slightly pale face, and he felt a dense, tingling pain in his heart, along with a sweet feeling he couldn't explain. He pushed the water glass towards her: "You drink it."
Xu Nuo shook her head: "I'm not thirsty."
He rubbed his thumb and forefinger together vigorously, took the cup, and held it directly to her lips, saying softly, "You drink."
Xu Nuo pouted and looked at him stubbornly, but he didn't back down. He kept staring at her and said in an unquestionable tone, "If you don't drink, I won't drink either."
Xu Nuo had no choice but to take two small sips, and then watched him finish drinking it all.
Seeing him look over, she deliberately pouted and huffed angrily.
He just threatened her to drink water; he was very aggressive.
She was just afraid he would die. Why would she have contributed so many flowers and herbs?
