Chapter Forty: The Scent on Her Body

During her time in the city, she did nothing but study and make herbal teas.

This morning, Xue Ping was cleaning Xu Nuo's room when she suddenly sniffed hard and exclaimed, "Nuo, why does your room smell so good?"

Xu Nuo was copying English words when she heard this, she looked up and asked, "Really?"

She also moved her head and sniffed.

Xue Ping leaned closer to her: "Hmm, it's your scent. How come it's in the room too?"

It smells like flowers, sweet but not cloying, making people feel refreshed and relaxed.

Xu Yan and Xue Ping had both mentioned before that she had a pleasant, light fragrance, somewhat like roses, but softer and lighter.

Xu Nuo knew that it smelled like floral water.

It was originally very faint, and you had to smell it carefully to detect it.

Now, you don't even need to get close; wherever Xu Nuo is, there's a faint, sweet fragrance.

Xu Nuo couldn't help but recall that the herbal tea seemed to be getting more and more fragrant lately. Yesterday, when she made tea for Xu Jin'an and Xue Ping, they could taste a very faint floral fragrance in it.

Moreover, she recently started using herbal water to grow things, and the plants seem to be growing even faster. The ginseng root has already grown to three times its original size, so much so that Xu Nuo didn't dare to plant any more, afraid that it would be too big and scare people away.

She was overjoyed at the thought that the herbal water would become more and more effective.

We're going to Lu County tomorrow, and we'll use the food Xu Yan grows to do some experiments.

When Duan San returned from the city, he went to Li Xian's house first, as usual. Li Xian had sold his mountain leopard for a lot of money, which made all the injuries he had suffered worthwhile.

Speaking of those injuries, they really scared Duan San.

When Li Xian went to call him to handle the game that noon, he thought it was a pheasant or a rabbit, but when he saw it, he was almost scared to death.

His brother Li killed a leopard.

While looking for tools, he found Li Xian's clothes that he had changed out of. Both his inner and outer garments were soaked in blood, and there was a pool of blood on the ground. If he hadn't seen Li Xian at noon, he would have thought that his brother Li had bled to death.

Who could be injured like that and still be able to get out of bed? But Brother Li is different. Not only can he get out of bed, but he can also run into the city. What's even more impressive is that he can go into the city the next day to deliver a yellow note to Eighth Master.

He also brought back a few books.

Duan San was truly convinced; he felt that Li Xian was probably not human.

When I arrived at Li Xian's house, I saw him just as he was leaving the courtyard.

Seeing the basket on his back, Duan San asked, "Brother Li, are you going up the mountain?"

Li Xian hummed in agreement and looked at him: "Want to lend a hand?"

Duan San nodded: "Sure, but your injuries haven't healed yet, why are you going up the mountain?"

Li Xian strode up the mountain without turning his head and said, "Collect the prey."

Duan San glanced at him, sighed, and shook his head. He was already so badly injured, yet he still went to set a trap.

Li Xian was very familiar with the mountains. He found several traps and caught two pheasants and a wild rabbit.

He handed the items to Duan San.

Duan Sanliang was carrying a full load of things, thinking he was about to go down the mountain, but who knew he would go further in.

"Brother Li, aren't we going down the mountain?"

Li Xian shook his head.

He looked up at the sky; it was likely to rain in the next few days, making the mountain roads difficult to travel.

Duan San followed him and learned that Li Xian was going to pick chestnuts.

"Brother Li, why did you have to be so careless when you were hitting those chestnuts, especially since you're injured?"

Duan San persuaded him while helping him pick up the chestnuts on the ground. They filled a basket to the brim before going down the mountain.

Duan San held up the prey in his hands and said, "Brother Li, are you selling these?"

Li Xian shook his head: "Not for sale."

Duan San nodded in agreement: "That's right. You're so badly injured, you need to save your strength to recover properly."

Li Xian glanced at him but didn't say anything.

After arriving at Li Xian's house, Duan San thought about finding a small cage to secretly raise the two chickens, and then slaughtering them when he wanted to eat them.

To everyone's surprise, Li Xian grabbed the two chickens without saying a word, swiftly chopped off their heads, and drained their blood.

They were all killed.

Duan San went over to help: "Let me do it, let me do it."

Cutting open the belly and removing the hair, a whole lot of work.

After processing the two chickens and the rabbit, Duan San wiped his head and saw Li Xian packing the things into the basket of chestnuts, saying to him, "Take this back to Xu Yan."

Duan San froze, so shocked he stammered, "What?!"

To Xu Yan?

Li Ge, despite being covered in injuries, put all this together, just to give it to Xu Yan?
