When Xu Yan met Li Xian, she naturally mentioned the matter of buying Cistanche deserticola. Sales had been quite good recently, and she had some money on hand.
Li Xian took a step back, his gaze subtly falling on Xu Nuo, who was puffing out her cheeks and blowing on the soup. He shook his head and refused, "No need, I don't need that stuff."
That's not how you say it. Whether you need it or not, it's someone else's stuff. Xu Yan insisted on buying it from him. Just then, Luo Chen brought out the soup and saw Li Xian talking to Xu Yan. He put down the bowl and was about to walk over when Xu Nuo quickly grabbed him and said loudly, "Brother Luo Chen, drink the soup while it's hot. It won't taste good when it's cold."
Luo Chen stopped and, seeing that she hadn't touched her bowl, smiled and asked, "What? Is it still hot?"
It was indeed hot, the soup had just come out of the pot. After blowing on it a few times, she nodded obediently. Luo Chen then took a spoon from the side and scooped the soup into her bowl, then poured it out again, teaching her: "From now on, do it like this when it's hot. Just scoop it a few times and it will cool down."
Li Xian's gaze suddenly turned cold. He trembled his dark eyelashes twice and stiffly withdrew his gaze.
Xu Yan was puzzled by Li Xian's sudden change in expression. Just then, Duan San walked over and said something that shocked Xu Yan. "The supplier Duan San is talking about is you?"
Because she was so surprised, her voice was a little louder. Xu Nuo turned her head to look and just happened to see the sunset glow falling on the two of them. Li Xian pursed his lips and nodded to Xu Yan.
He was dressed simply and old, but because of his tall stature, nearly 1.88 meters tall, his face was handsome and rugged, and his brows were resolute. Looking at him like this, one could really glimpse the domineering and intimidating aura that would one day dominate the business world in the north and south.
Xu Nuo felt that the two of them were really a good match.
She looked away, sipped the soup which was no longer too hot, and smiled as she saw them approaching: "Come and have some soup, it's not fishy at all."
Duan San gestured for Li Xian to sit down and said to her, "Comrade Xu Nuo, you should drink another bowl; it contains Cistanche deserticola."
Xu Nuo didn't know what Cistanche deserticola was. She turned to look at Xu Yan, who tucked a strand of hair that had fallen across her cheek behind her ear and said, "It was given to me by Comrade Li Xian."
Xu Nuo smiled even more upon hearing this. She turned to look at Li Xian, but he didn't look at her. He lowered his eyes, finished the soup in his bowl in a few gulps, put down the bowl, stood up, and said to someone else, "I have something to do, I'll be going now."
After saying that, he really turned around and left.
Xu Nuo glanced at his back strangely, feeling as if he had looked at her as he left.
She looked away and lowered her head to finish her soup in small sips.
Tomorrow is the day to return to the county town. Because of the inconvenient transportation in the village, the tractor only comes in one day a week, so Xu Nuo comes to Luxian Village once a week.
Tomorrow, all the educated youth will have to go to work. Xu Yan can't accompany Xu Nuo to the city, so she can only take the tractor by herself. These days are the busy farming season, so not many people are going to the city. Xu Nuo stood there waiting idly, but the tractor didn't come for a long time. Just as she was wondering, Aunt Luo Er came back from the city. When she saw Xu Nuo, she said warmly, "Comrade Xu Nuo, are you going back to the city?"
Xu Nuo nodded: "Yes, Aunt Luo, isn't there a tractor today?"
Aunt Luo was still angry about this: "They said they would come to the village in the morning, but today they said the fertilizer from the fertilizer factory hasn't been delivered yet and they won't be here until 2 pm. I'm not going to say anything more, Comrade Xu Nuo, I'm in a hurry to get to work."
Aunt Luo left in a hurry, and Xu Nuo had no choice but to walk towards the village as well. She thought she might stay at the brigade leader's house until the afternoon before leaving, but she unexpectedly ran into Li Xian on the way.
He seemed surprised to run into Xu Nuo and paused for a moment.
Xu Nuo walked over and pointed at his bloodstained forehead and his mottled, hideous wounds, her voice trembling slightly: "You, you're injured."
