Chapter 53 Braised Food Volume 1

After seeing them off, Ling Miao and Susan went into the kitchen to tidy up.

Cleanup in the interstellar era does not require much manpower, as advanced technology has already covered many aspects.

It has long since liberated humankind from tedious physical labor.

Previously, there were no such conditions on Tadar, but now that we've come to the capital planet, the kitchen is fully equipped, and naturally, it also has the corresponding cleaning function.

After the two of them tidied up the remaining ingredients, Susan suddenly asked:

"Will we still sell braised food at our stall tomorrow?"

Her tone was disgruntled; there were only three days left until the end of the food festival.

They've already wasted several days because of what happened before.

Perhaps all the customers we had built up before have been lost.

Susan was furious and cursed the person behind it all in her heart.

Ling Miao shook her head hesitantly, "I haven't thought about it yet."

She really hasn't decided yet.

The food festival offers a lot of creative freedom. You can sell the same food all the time, or you can offer something new every day. It all depends on the creator's own wishes.

But Ling Miao and Susan thought differently. She was very confident in the food she made, especially since the spice packet for the braised dishes was purchased from the system store.

Perhaps not setting up a stall for a few days will actually have a greater impact.

But innovation is what attracts more customers.

She was deep in thought when suddenly the system's voice came to her mind.

【Host.】

Is there something you need?

The system said hesitantly, "I found out that on Earth, there's a dish that combines braised meat and noodles."

Braised meat rolls?

Ling Miao raised her eyebrows; this was indeed a good idea.

[Little system, you're so smart.]

【hey-hey】

It fidgeted a little shyly, its round ball of light flickering on and off; it was finally able to help its host.

Ling Miao ignored the still shy system and turned to Susan, saying, "Let's make braised meat rolls."

"Braised meat rolls?"

"Yes, let's make that one. It's plentiful, filling, simple, and quick. Just prepare the ingredients in advance."

Ling Miao thought it over and over and felt it was a good idea, so she immediately pulled Susan along and started to take action.

The braised food was readily available, but this time the braised items were made from easier-to-cut pieces of meat.

"Do we really want to change it?"

Susan looked at the duck that had been replaced, her eyes filled with reluctance.

When it comes to braised dishes, duck parts are the best match; no other meat, like chicken feet, tastes as good as duck.

They're all scraps, so how come the duck is so delicious?

"Then let's change it to duck legs and chicken legs."

"The rest will remain the same, but the quantity of other duck products will be reduced."

"Okay!"

Susan excitedly put the pieces of meat she was carrying aside and turned to pour in the other prepared duck parts in the same way.

Ling Miao is preparing wraps for braised meat.

The wraps need to be prepared in advance so that you won't be scrambling around when it's time to make them.

Scoop out the flour to make a batter, and add some mung bean starch to make it more elastic.

After everything was done, she took out a round tray, brushed a layer of oil on the bottom to prevent sticking, scooped a spoonful of batter, and spread it evenly over the bottom of the bowl.

Susan was preparing the side dishes, glancing over here every now and then.

Seeing Ling Miao put the batter into the steamer, he immediately became curious, "This pancake is steamed?"

Ling Miao nodded, "Yes."

"I thought it was fried like that roujiamo (Chinese hamburger)."

Susan remarked with some emotion that the same ingredient can be transformed into different delicacies depending on how it is prepared.

She is increasingly realizing that cooking is a skill in itself.

"You can't fry that; if you do, it'll probably turn into a pancake."

"If you want to fry them, I can teach you how to make pancakes."

Ling Miao touched her chin, "Jianbing guozi is also delicious."

"Jianbing Guozi?"

Susan became curious, "You can fry fruit too?"

“Of course not,” Ling Miao shook her head, suppressing a laugh, “It’s just a form of address.”

"It's like there's no wife in wife cake, or no fish in shredded pork with garlic sauce."

"Are these all ancient delicacies you've seen mentioned in ancient books?"

Susan exclaimed, "The naming of food in ancient times is quite interesting."

“Yes,” Ling Miao nodded, “I can tell you more about the origins of the names of some of the dishes when I have time.”

"Okay."

Susan responded and saw steam rising from the steamer. "Is it almost ready?"

Ling Miao turned her head and glanced at it, then reached out and lifted the lid of the steamer. "You have sharp eyes, don't you?"

"This thing is really quick to make."

Susan watched as Ling Miao lifted the bowl out and carefully used a toothpick to lift the edge, revealing a clear, translucent noodle skin.

"It's even semi-transparent."

"Yes, I also added some mung bean starch for better texture."

A whole steamer produced quite a few dough sheets at the same time. Ling Miao brushed each one with a layer of oil and carefully stacked them together.

"That way it won't stick, and it will be much easier for us to do it tomorrow."

She looked at the pancakes in front of her with satisfaction. "Oh, right, I need to make some sauce."

Is there any particular reason for this?

Ling Miao shook her head, "Actually, there aren't many rules for making delicious food. You can adjust the amount according to your personal preferences."

"Just like some people like to eat sweets, we can add a little more sugar when making desserts or sweet dishes."

"The process of making food is more like a form of healing, with different flavors created according to different people's preferences."

Susan seemed thoughtful. "From this perspective, the limitations are actually smaller."
