Susan stared wide-eyed at Ling Miao's knife skills.
She didn't come to her senses until the duck meat was completely sliced and placed on the plate. "The knife technique for slicing the duck is also very sophisticated."
"I don't know how long it will take to learn even half of your swordsmanship."
She was a little frustrated, and for the first time, her attention wasn't focused on the duck meat she had been longing for.
Ling Miao didn't say anything.
Pressure can be a motivating factor.
Fortunately, she only sighed for a moment before quickly cheering herself up. "There's one last dish. What are you planning to make?"
Ling Miao thought about the dishes that had already been prepared, "We already have both salty and spicy dishes, how about we make a sweet dish as well?"
The more she talked about it, the better she felt about the idea, and she made the final decision.
"Let's make a sweet meat dish."
"Sweet meat?"
Susan was a little conflicted. She could accept sweet desserts and drinks, but sweet meats sounded strange.
So far, she has never heard of any sweet meat dishes in interstellar space.
"Anything tastes good if it's done well."
Ling Miao gently rubbed Susan's troubled face, "Just like fruit, it can also be used in cooking."
"Using fruit in cooking?"
Susan looked shocked and cautiously asked, "Salad?"
“No,” Ling Miao looked at Susan, who was completely shocked, and found it somewhat amusing. “In ancient times, there was a local specialty dish in the Guangdong province that was made with pineapple.”
"It tastes sweet and sour, and many elderly people and children like it."
After saying that, she picked up a piece of pork tenderloin, "The lychee pork today is about the same."
"They're all sweet and sour."
To be honest, as a staunch advocate of strong flavors, Ling Miao refuses to eat any sweet dishes other than desserts and drinks.
But eating lychee flesh was an exception only once.
While both are tourist attractions, the difference is that tasting lychee pulp is something that locals strongly recommend, making it hard to refuse.
With a try-it-out mentality, I completely won her over with just one bite.
Contrary to her expectations of being cloyingly sweet, the lychee flesh had a slightly sweet and sour taste.
The subtle sourness perfectly balances the sweetness. The fried lychee flesh has a crispy outer shell and is coated with a bright red sauce, hence its name, which resembles a lychee.
Susan's curiosity was piqued by Ling Miao's words, "Is it really that delicious?"
"If you don't believe me, you'll know once you try it."
Ling Miao scored the whole pork tenderloin with diagonal cuts, then cut it into chunks, explaining to Susan, who was standing curiously to the side, "This is to help it absorb the flavors and coat the meat with sauce better."
Marinate the chopped pork tenderloin with salt, eggs, and other seasonings.
Ling Miao then poured in the prepared starch and mixed it well, coating each slice of meat with the batter.
"You also need to add a little oil to retain moisture and prevent it from becoming too crispy during frying."
While explaining, Ling Miao asked Susan to heat up a pot of oil.
Although the essence of lychee pork lies in the sauce, the texture of the meat also directly affects the overall flavor.
Meat that's too crispy can get greasy after a few bites; the best experience is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
As the oil heated up, Ling Miao was explaining to Susan the precautions to take when putting meat pieces into hot oil.
The doorbell suddenly rang.
The two exchanged a glance, and Ling Miao quickly went out of the kitchen to open the door.
"Manager!"
"We're here."
Avril and her two companions stood outside the door along with three other tall, long-legged men.
Ling Miao greeted them, her gaze falling on the three who had remained silent.
The man at the head was dressed seriously, with a handsome and sharp face and a calm expression. Ling Miao recognized him at a glance as General Cedrian, whom she had met on the StarNet before.
"I apologize for disturbing you."
The man in front of her suddenly spoke, his deep voice pulling Ling Miao back from her wandering thoughts.
"I didn't bother you at all; I'm the one who should thank you."
The man didn't speak. After stepping through the door, he placed the things he was carrying on the table.
The two people following behind each carried a bag and placed it on the table.
"This is…"
"Thank you for your help."
Cedrian spoke, his cold, stern voice echoing in the living room, causing Ling Miao's words of refusal to catch in her throat.
She looked around; everyone was quiet, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings, and reluctantly accepted the return gift.
One person's gaze was a little strange. Ling Miao glanced at the man in casual clothes one more time.
Compared to the general and another guard-like figure beside him, he seemed overly casual.
He smiled but didn't say anything.
But that look in his eyes made Ling Miao feel that the other person knew her.
She shook her head, banishing the ridiculous thought from her mind.
The interstellar space is so vast, how could such a coincidence be possible?
Moreover, he only has a million fans. The interstellar world is vast, with hundreds of billions of people. With such a small number of fans, he is unlikely to become a fan to everyone he meets.
Ling Miao couldn't imagine what it would be like for someone in military uniform to be doing a food livestream.
That would make her feel very out of place.
"Please sit down, everyone. The food will be ready soon."
Speaking of this, Ling Miao thought of the lychee flesh that was still being fried in the oil.
She ignored the people still sitting in the living room and rushed into the kitchen.
Fortunately, Susan kept a close eye on things, and nothing serious happened.
She breathed a sigh of relief, then remembered the guests still sitting in the living room.
"Get them something to eat."
"good."
Susan nodded and obediently left the kitchen.
Yarshi sat on the sofa, bored, while the trio beside him remained silent.
He gestured to Sony with his eyes, but the other man sat upright on the sofa, not even glancing at him.
Yarsey pursed her lips, but before she could speak, she saw Susan come out carrying a tray.
