For the next two days, Ling Miao and Susan pushed their carts to set up their stall every morning.
Unsurprisingly, the braised food is usually sold out shortly after the stall is set up.
Susan gradually calmed down after initially feeling guilty when faced with complaints from diners.
There's no way to satisfy the ever-growing customer base, no matter how much braised food is available.
Her hands were practically sparking.
They got up even earlier today; there weren't many customers usually waiting at these stalls.
Susan breathed a sigh of relief and pounded her arm.
"Business has been really good these past few days."
“Yes,” Ling Miao chimed in, “I hope more people will go to the restaurant to eat.”
Although setting up a stall here can earn deliciousness points, Ling Miao hasn't forgotten that the shop she runs on Planet Tadar is her original profession.
Setting up a stall and live streaming are only temporary solutions.
Fortunately, due to the booming business these days, many diners have been asking about the restaurant's location.
Although many diners were disappointed due to the distance, quite a few decided to give it a try.
Even the number of her live stream fans has increased significantly.
Ling Miao smiled, somewhat pleased. Coming to the food festival this time was definitely the right decision.
As she bent down to sit, she suddenly heard a reprimand—
"Who gave you permission to set up stalls here?"
A team of security personnel pushed aside other stalls and walked towards this place from a distance.
The head guard was tall and arrogant, pushing aside the customers already in line and standing in front of Ling Miao.
Ling Miao stood up, somewhat puzzled, and explained, "We were invited..."
"I don't care what you are, you're not allowed to set up a stall here!"
"What right do you have to do this!"
Susan stepped forward, her face flushed with anger, "Is this your home? Why are you meddling in my business!"
"It's none of my business whether it's wide or not. This area has been requisitioned. If we don't leave..."
The other party raised his fist, the threat was obvious.
Ling Miao glanced around. The stall owners watched this farcical scene of people being chased away; some were enjoying the spectacle, while others couldn't bear to leave.
Most people are just watching the show.
If one business is doing too well, it will impact other vendors.
She lowered her eyes, silently packed her things, and pondered a solution.
Seeing her actions, Susan swallowed her words, her eyes reddening.
If I were still in the past, I would never have encountered such a thing.
Before they could even speak, someone kicked them all out with a single sentence.
For the first time, she hated herself for being kicked out so pathetically.
The stall owners watching nearby whispered among themselves, all feeling sorry for Ling Miao's retreating figure.
I don't know who I offended.
"Who do you think did this?"
Someone whispered to their companion, but the person next to them quickly covered their mouth, "We still don't know if that person is even there."
His companion nodded, still looking shaken.
This never happened in previous years; everyone's business was about the same.
But this year is different. Ling Miao's wontons were a hit before, and her braised dishes attracted the vast majority of customers, leaving her other stalls with little business.
But there's really nothing you can do if you're not as skilled as others.
The situation today is clearly different; it's obvious that someone is deliberately causing trouble.
The man looked regretful, shook his head, and went back to doing what he was doing.
The bread vendor in the back sat comfortably at his stall, while the owner of the stall next to him leaned over and whispered:
"Who do you think she offended?"
His words were tinged with schadenfreude: "That's good, now that she's here, none of our other stalls have any business."
"Who told her to be so ruthless in her business dealings? Can't we all just be nice to each other? Tsk tsk tsk."
"Now look what happened, I offended someone and got kicked out."
He patted Pande on the shoulder. "Brother, don't you think that makes sense?"
Pande made a soft "hmm" sound, shifted his body, and then said nothing more.
His downcast eyes held an unreadable meaning.
Ling Miao and Susan left the United Market and pushed their carts home.
Susan followed behind, her head down, her expression unreadable, and she didn't say a word the whole way.
Ling Miao walked ahead, unaware that Susan was unusually quiet behind her.
She pondered all the way, but still couldn't find a clue, and felt frustrated.
[System, can you help me find the person who did this?]
The little system weakly shook its head: [Sorry, host, I don't have this function.]
It frowned, and the whole ball looked much dimmer.
Ling Miao comforted it for a few moments, then, thinking of Avril and the others, and Ding Yi'en and the others, she tentatively sent them a message.
Putting away her Star Brain, Ling Miao turned to look at Susan, who hadn't spoken, and comforted her:
"Don't overthink it, I've already asked around."
Susan composed herself, nodded, her eyes still red-rimmed, and said, "Okay."
That wasn't all.
The two returned to their residence. Ling Miao put her things away, but no one had replied to her messages on her computer yet. After thinking for a moment, she went back to her room to rest.
"Susan, you should go and get some rest too. You haven't had a proper rest these past few days."
Only after seeing the other person nod did she feel relieved and enter the room.
But after a short while, Ling Miao heard the door close.
She sighed, assuming the other person had simply gone out for a walk to clear their head, without thinking anything of it.
Susan walked out the door and along the straight, wide main road. Pedestrians hurried by, hovercars swirled overhead, and tall buildings lined the roadside, each topped with a large emblem.
The background is light gold, with a huge golden cat wearing a blue and red uniform sitting in the center.
She stared at it for a long while before looking away.
"Susan?"
A hesitant female voice suddenly came from behind.
Susan stiffened and stood still.
The woman behind her hesitated before stepping forward, her heels clicking on the ground. She finally reached Susan.
"It really is you."
"I thought I was seeing things."
With long, fiery red curly hair, the woman in front of her was dressed in designer clothes, and oversized sunglasses covered most of her face, but Susan still recognized Dormia at a glance.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back?"
Dormia looked down at the former 'young lady' with a gleam of pleasure in her eyes.
Susan used to be someone she looked up to, but she never imagined that one day she would be able to admire her by looking down at her.
Why aren't you home? Why are you still wandering around outside?
She took out her GPS and kindly helped her contact her family, saying, "You've been away for so long, your family will inevitably worry."
"It's none of your business."
Susan uttered those words stiffly, then turned and left.
Domiya, watching her flee in disarray, shared the news in the group chat.
Dormia: [Guess who I just saw?]
Levich: [Speak quickly if you need anything.]
Domiya pursed her lips, but without delay, she gave her answer directly.
It's Susan.
She actually came back.
