Chapter Thirty-Seven: Barbecue

By the time Ling Miao withdrew her gaze, the gazes that had been cast upon her from the surroundings had also been withdrawn.

She didn't feel the stares from those around her, but Susan did. However, the other person seemed to have no ill intentions and was just curiously glancing at her a few more times. She didn't pay any more attention and followed Ling Miao to unload the things.

Because she was making wontons, Ling Miao also prepared two folding portable tables and chairs. The stall space was not large, and it was already quite difficult to fit two tables and chairs.

As they bustled about, some curious onlookers turned to look.

Upon seeing that the other person had prepared wontons, he immediately looked away, losing interest.

The man curled his lip, clearly looking down on him.

Wontons have been obsolete for centuries; interstellar people are increasingly seeking novel dishes and flavors.

Many people saw that Ling Miao had prepared wontons, and most of them looked away, exchanging knowing glances.

Another person with a grand dream of creating delicious food.

Time flew by, and just as Ling Miao and Susan finished packing, they heard a sound approaching from afar.

"The food festival has officially begun!"

The sound was loud, but it was also extremely simple.

Ling Miao was stunned for a moment, and when she came to her senses, she was still a little incredulous.

She turned her head to look at the expressions of the stall owners around her. Everyone around her looked calm, as if they didn't think anything was wrong.

Ling Miao looked away, feeling somewhat speechless. It turned out that the interstellar era was this simple and efficient.

In the previous life, there would at least be some kind of ribbon-cutting ceremony and an opening ceremony by a host.

There's nothing left here.

Simple is fine, though. Ling Miao doesn't like listening to long speeches; she'd rather use that time to do more work.

As if a switch had been flipped, the surrounding stall owners all started to get to work.

A stall owner next to Ling Miao slowly uncovered the black cloth covering his utensils. Ling Miao glanced at it curiously. It was a grid-like flat net, and the utensils underneath were hollow, as if they could hold something.

She recognized the utensils, but it wasn't until the vendor lifted the lid of the prepared ingredients that she suddenly realized who they were.

It turns out it's barbecue!

Not only did Ling Miao realize what was happening, but the surrounding stall owners who had noticed it also suddenly understood, and then their eyes showed dissatisfaction.

The barbecue flavor is strong, and the aroma is so overpowering that it easily attracts customers.

For them, it's also an easy way to mask the smell of the food they make.

In this way, all the customers will go to him.

The surrounding vendors felt it was unfair, but the food festival never stipulated any restrictions on the types of food, and even if they reported cheating, there would be no response.

Who told them not to think of that?

Everyone had no choice but to swallow this bitter pill.

His gaze shifted and landed on Ling Miao at the stall next to him.

She seemed not to have reacted yet, standing there dumbfounded, staring at the other person.

Some people laughed gleefully, but compared to them, Ling Miao was the one who was most shocked.

It just so happens that the other person is right next to her stall!

Perhaps because someone was at the bottom, they felt a little better and shifted their attention to preparing their own ingredients.

Ling Miao stood there for only a moment to think, and a long queue began to form in front of the stall next to her.

She couldn't help but swallow hard, remembering the intense and pungent taste of barbecue, and tugged at Susan's sleeve beside her, "Do you want some?"

"ah?"

Following the other person's gaze, Susan realized what Ling Miao had said.

He was both amused and exasperated. "Aren't you worried that they'll steal your business?"

“What’s the big deal?” Ling Miao loosened her sleeve. “Business is all about competition.”

"We didn't steal our customers."

"Are you going to eat it or not? If not, I'll just buy it for myself."

Ling Miao took a few steps to the side, then turned back and asked another question.

Susan shook her head. "You eat it yourself. I don't want to eat right now."

"Okay."

Ling Miao responded and walked towards the group, her back view showing a hint of urgency.

Those secretly observing from the sidelines were dumbfounded.

This reaction isn't right.

They stared blankly as Ling Miao lined up and bought several beef skewers.

When the stall owner saw her, his eyes showed surprise, but he didn't say anything. After a friendly exchange, Ling Miao paid and took the beef skewers back to her stall.

The surrounding stall owners who were observing: "..."

Has she already given up?

Someone whispered, and the person next to them nodded hesitantly, "Probably."

"Who cares? It's good to have one less stall competing with us."

Although they never really cared about wontons.

The people around them completely withdrew their gazes and obediently continued with their own tasks.

Ling Miao ate a beef skewer. The fragrant beef was skewered on a stick. The dark brown pieces of meat were quite large, covered with seasonings, and a layer of oil glistened on the meat, giving it an enticing color.

The aroma is strong and enticing. One bite fills your mouth with fragrance, and the satisfaction of the meat instantly sweeps through your body. It is indeed quite delicious.

As Ling Miao thought about it, her gaze fell on the beef skewers in front of her. The meat was a little overcooked; it would be perfect if it were a little more tender. When she bit into it, a little juice burst out, fresh and delicious.

She was a little disappointed; the beef skewers in front of her were delicious, but they were missing the most important ingredient: seasoning.

cumin.

Cumin is an essential seasoning for barbecue, but it seems that the interstellar people have not yet discovered it.

As she pondered this, she finished all the beef skewers in her hand and sat quietly in the chair, looking around.
