Chapter 52 Brown Sugar Rice Cake

Cedrian looked at the lychee-flavored meat between his chopsticks, coated in a bright red sauce.

You can't see the whole thing, but you can smell a sweet and sour aroma.

The dishes on the table were all delicious, but he felt something was missing.

Now, smelling the aroma of lychee meat, he suddenly remembered the crystal dumplings he had tried before.

The sweet red bean paste swept through my mouth, leaving a sweet taste everywhere it went. Combined with the chewy and soft dumpling skin, it was a great satisfaction for my taste buds.

He opened his mouth, and the first thing he tasted was a deep reddish-brown sauce, just as he had imagined, with a sweet and sour flavor, but upon closer tasting, it was mostly sweet.

Only after careful chewing can you discover a subtle sourness beneath the surface. The outer shell is crispy, but the crispy shell becomes slightly softer after being drizzled with sauce; it's not completely caramelized.

The meat inside is, on the contrary, smooth and tender, not dry due to loss of too much moisture, and even has a hint of juice after careful tasting.

The sweet and sour taste, crispy crust, and tender meat inside made Cedrian's tongue tingle, and in the end, he couldn't resist the temptation and joined the feast.

It's really delicious.

He looked at the dish with satisfaction and almost happily reached for his chopsticks.

"hiss--"

"This is still the best!"

Yarsi gasped, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, his lips turning bright red from the spiciness, and a few drops of chili oil still clinging to the corners of his mouth.

Would you like some soup?

As Ling Miao asked the question, her gaze fell on his bowl.

The snow-white rice was covered with a layer of bright red oil, and the bright red slices of meat were piled up in the bowl.

My gaze shifted, and the plate of boiled pork slices on the table was almost empty, with only a few drops of broth glistening with red oil remaining.

They all grabbed this plate and ate it.

Ling Miao inwardly sighed; this dish was the spiciest of all.

Considering that everyone is eating together, even if there are other spicy dishes, the spiciness is only increased appropriately. However, for this boiled pork slices, she added a lot of chili peppers for the sake of taste.

No, don't.

Yarsi took a breath and declined Ling Miao's offer.

It has to be spicy to be truly satisfying.

Okay.

Since the other party refused, Ling Miao naturally wouldn't insist. She picked up a soup bowl from the side, ladled out a bowl of corn and pork rib soup, and placed it in front of Cedrian as the table turned.

"It's also good for cutting through the greasiness."

She noticed that the other person had eaten several bites of lychee flesh.

Eating too much can easily make you feel a bit greasy.

"…Thanks."

Cedrian lowered his eyes and accepted her kindness.

Actually, it wasn't greasy at all. Compared to the crystal dumplings last time, this time the lychee pork was more to his liking.

He picked up the soup bowl, took a sip, and a small piece of pork rib slid into his mouth.

The ribs, stewed until tender and falling off the bone, melt effortlessly on the tongue with the slightest touch of the tongue, the bones and skin separating.

Cedrian also tasted a few loose corn kernels; the sweet corn kernels and pork ribs blended together to create a fragrant flavor that rushed into his esophagus.

His brow relaxed slightly, and a great sense of joy welled up within him.

Ling Miao, who had been paying attention, asked, "Isn't it delicious?"

Her eyes crinkled as she smiled at the other person, her expression natural and relaxed.

Cedrian paused for a moment, then nodded. "It's delicious."

It had been a long time since anyone had asked him such a casual question with such a relaxed expression.

"If it tastes good, drink more."

He heard the other person's words again.

Cedrian nodded subconsciously, but when he realized something was wrong, he looked up and saw that Ling Miao's attention had already shifted away.

He felt a tightness in his chest and suddenly felt a little lost.

But I can't quite explain this strange feeling.

At the end of the meal, Ling Miao brought out the brown sugar glutinous rice cakes she had made.

The round, strip-shaped glutinous rice cakes are sprinkled with a layer of yellow soybean powder and then drizzled with a layer of dark red brown sugar syrup, creating a visually stunning effect that makes you want to take a bite.

"Try it."

Ling Miao placed the first thing in front of Cedrian, noticing that he seemed to have a sweet tooth.

This little quirk is the same as the big boss of her live stream.

Ling Miao rested her chin on her hand, watching as the other person reached out with their chopsticks and picked up a piece of glutinous rice cake.

The golden soybean flour crumbled and fell off the rice cake the moment it was picked up, while a sliver of dark red brown sugar syrup clung precariously to it.

Just looking at it makes your mouth water.

Susan stared longingly at the brown sugar glutinous rice cake, waiting for the other person to turn around.

It's very soft, that's my first impression of Cedrian. It's soft and chewy yet bouncy, with just the right amount of firmness. As you chew it, sweet juices flow out.

Slightly hot brown sugar syrup spread throughout the mouth through the opening.

Ling Miao had been watching his expression closely and immediately knew that he had tasted the brown sugar filling inside.

The glutinous rice cake is filled with brown sugar. During the frying process, the rising temperature causes the brown sugar to melt into a juice.

The moment you bite into it, the juice flows down your lips and teeth to the tip of your tongue, which is an absolute delight for those with a sweet tooth.

Cedrian ate his glutinous rice cake, his gaze falling on the person opposite him.

The girl rested her chin on her hand, looking in his direction with her eyes curved and her smile clear. As if noticing his gaze, the corners of her lips turned up, revealing two small dimples on her cheeks.

Cedrian's gaze was stung as if by a burn, and he quickly looked away.

He lowered his eyes, his face cold and stern, and no one could tell that a restless heart was beating inside.

That's strange.

He couldn't help but curl his fingers, looking somewhat bewildered.

He was still somewhat bewildered even as he left.

Of course, others only see it as serious.
