Chapter 9 White Deer Isolation

Shi Yu didn't step out of the house the whole afternoon.

He was almost dehydrated by Cheng Wuye's weird temptation. He was not familiar with the house. He had no interest in occupying someone else's nest and was unwilling to stay in a place where someone else had slept. He endured the dizziness and exhaustion and went to the attic where miscellaneous items were stored. As soon as he reached the abandoned broken sofa, his legs went weak and he fell down.

The fall made Shi Yu's already slow brain stop working completely. He threw all the messy things aside and wanted to just lie there and never wake up again.

I slept until the evening, and the sky was painted the color of fire. The rain in the village had been intermittent for the past few days, and it was only at this moment that the moisture was almost evaporated.

Shi Yu put his hands on his eyes, and looked through the gaps between his fingers at the light outside. After he got used to the light intensity, he put his hands down, and slowly sat up on the broken sofa, almost falling down again.

After not drinking a drop of water for the whole day and vomiting a pool of stomach acid, he sat there for a while and suddenly remembered the lollipop he had given to the boy who he didn't know whether he was a human or a ghost during the day.

If I had known this would happen, I would not have given it to myself. I would not be without the strength to walk now.

Shi Yu held on to the wall and returned to the first floor.

The others had gathered here early and sat in a circle, and their expressions changed to some extent when they saw him coming.

But it's not a good change.

Shi Yu filled half a cup of water at the water dispenser in the lobby, drank it quietly, threw the disposable cup into the trash can beside him, sat down on the nearest chair, buttoned up his hoodie and closed his eyes.

The evening banquet was coming to an end. The guests put down their bowls and chopsticks and talked about everything from the harvest to the income from the market, and finally turned to the protagonist of this funeral, Xu Zhukong.

"This kid from the Xu family is really pitiful. He used to be in good health and had no signs of any acute illness. How could he just die like this?"

This is the first person's voice.

"It's true that he is physically healthy, but it's a pity that his brain is not good."

This is the second person's voice.

"Keep your voice down, we are in someone else's house."

This is the voice of a third person.

"I'm not making this up. Ever since Yueyue passed away, that kid has been mentally unstable. He kept shouting 'moon, moon' all day long. Whenever he caught someone, he would ask them if they had seen the moon. He even didn't let his own father go. He's completely insane!" The second person lowered his voice, "I heard from Old Xu that he even went crazy and stabbed himself with a pair of scissors..."

The third person was shocked: "Hey!"

The second person stopped talking.

The first person was slightly curious: "From what you said, he is quite infatuated with that girl?"

"It's more than just infatuation." The fourth person joined the group chat. "You don't know that since you rarely come back, Yueyue is a girl from a big city. She is very fair and clean, and she looks different from the girls in our village. I don't know how many people liked her at the beginning, but who would have thought that she would choose the boy from the Xu family in the end. That boy must have been treated like a golden branch and jade leaf. Later, Yueyue got into trouble and fell off a cliff and died. That boy also wanted to jump down..."

The first person said: "Jump down?!"

“Of course he didn’t make it. He was dragged back by his father.” The fourth person said, “But he cried later.”

The first person's eyes widened.

“He was a grown man, but he cried until his eyes turned red on the cliff, and he kept shouting Yueyue’s name. Ever since he came back that day,” the fourth man pointed to his head, “he hasn’t been normal.”

【I feel a little touched. What's going on?】

The first person sighed for a while, and suddenly remembered something: "Speaking of which, the Xu family is gone, and they held a funeral, so I came back. Why didn't I hear that any family in the village held a funeral after Guan Yueyue died?"

The second person interrupted, "There wasn't any in the first place. Didn't I say that Guan Yueyue wasn't from our village? Even the body was dragged back by Old Xu from the mountain. As for his parents? There wasn't even a shadow of them."

At this point, the direction of this rural love story has completely gone off track.

Shi Yu was sitting not far from them. Someone pushed him while he was half asleep and half awake, and held his shoulders in time before he fell uncontrollably: "Brother."

He was stunned for a moment and slowly opened his eyes.

Seeing him wake up, Fang Chen lowered his voice and asked, "You didn't show up for dinner. Are you able to hold on? Do you want to eat something?"

Shi Yu looked at him quietly for a while, then asked, "Did Cheng Wuye ask you to come?"

Fang Chen's eyes widened in surprise: "You can see this?"

You won’t die of starvation if you don’t eat for a day. When you see an adult miss a meal, your first reaction is not to worry about whether the person is hungry, but to worry about the person’s physical condition?

The only person who might know his current situation is Cheng Wuye.

Shi Yu did not explain much. The hoarse taste of blood and burning sensation in his throat were still there, and he did not want to waste his energy talking to others. He pressed his hand on his temples, his eyelids were too heavy to lift.

Fang Chen accidentally touched his skin and was stunned by the heat for a moment: "You have a fever?"

Shi Yu was unable to pull his hand back and finally gave up.

In a trance, I seemed to be supported by someone and leaned against the back of a chair. My thoughts drifted aimlessly for a while, and then I was pushed awake by someone.

“…”

Fang Chen quickly explained: "I made you a cup of oatmeal, drink it to replenish your energy."

Shi Yu stared at the steaming glass.

"This time it wasn't Brother Cheng's order. I volunteered." Fang Chen keenly sensed what he wanted to ask and stuffed the cup into his palm. "I didn't dare to go to the kitchen. It's too far to go back and forth, and it was getting dark soon. So I went to the living room next door and found it. You can make do with it."

Shi Yu lowered his eyes and was silent for a long time, finally pinching the cup: "Thank you."

The foursome not far away saw the entire scene.

Yes, a group of four.

The two new players, including Lu Nan, both gave up on returning to their own residences tonight. Instead, they were content to sleep on chairs in the mourning hall, so there were now five people in their group.

Logically speaking, just by hearing the name, one should know that a mourning hall is not a place in the world of the living. Otherwise, the original group of helpers would not all prefer to stay alone in a strange house rather than stay in the mourning hall with the Taoist group.

And now that he suddenly changed his mind, Shi Yu could probably guess that it was probably because Cheng Wuye was using the fact that he had locked up Xu Zhukong's ghost in a coffin last night as a bargaining chip.

Because Cheng Wuye had initially told Lu Nan the clues and answered his questions in the kitchen, and he later told Cheng Wuye all the clues he knew, Lu Nan had a gambler's mentality towards Cheng Wuye, similar to a life-saving straw. When he heard that the danger source in the mourning hall had been eliminated, he naturally couldn't wait to join in. As for the fat helper, he was timid and cowardly, and didn't want to be the only special one, so he could only follow the crowd.

After Fang Chen returned to the five-member team, he received unanimous stares from the others.

The fat helper was the first to lose his temper: "Why are you bothering with him?"

This "he" naturally refers to Shi Yu.

Fang Chen didn't seem to notice the problem, and looked confused: "What's wrong?"

The man in the Taoist group spoke in a calmer voice: "Xiao Fang, didn't we just discuss Guan Yueyue's death? Why did you suddenly leave? Don't you want to stay with us?"

Fang Chen said "Oh" and pointed to the man sitting on the left with his arms crossed: "Brother Cheng asked me to go."

Lu Nan looked at Cheng Wuye blankly.

Cheng Wuye suddenly became the focus of several people's attention and glanced at Fang Chen meaningfully.

Fang Chen shuddered for no apparent reason.

Cheng Wuye lowered his eyes and said calmly, "How can we see the situation if we don't get close?"

【It’s really good. 】

[In the past, when Brother Wu called everyone to a meeting, he would always take the initiative to bring Shi Yu along. But now, he doesn't even invite him to discuss the gossip he heard from the guests. This is such obvious isolation. Are they really planning to give up on him? ]

[This is nonsense. For more than two days, everyone else has been running around to complete the game, but he stayed in the house every day and slept all the time. If you met such a teammate, wouldn't you be angry? Don't mind running to lead a player who has not contributed anything. Anyway, if I were the first one to kick him out, it would be none of my business whether he dies or not. It's hard to understand why they would isolate him? It's normal for him to give up, right? ]

【How come Master Meiren didn't do anything? Wasn't he the target of the ghost at night? Wasn't he the one who locked the ghost in the coffin every time? If he hadn't stabilized the ghost's hatred value, how could the others sleep in the game for two consecutive days without any blood or injuries? Those players didn't know if they slept to death, and you don't know if you have a God's perspective? How could you survive the two attacks of the ghost until now? If not, just shut up! 】

[In this day and age, how come there are still people who watch live broadcasts without thinking and just let their senses guide them? Shi Yu obviously went to deal with the ghost because the ghost provoked him. Would he have done it if the ghost hadn't provoked him? Did you see him actively ask the NPCs in the game for even a single piece of information during the day? His passive attitude is so obvious that it's almost written on his face, and there are still people who say he's useful? He's useless except for taking up space and wasting air! ]

[At least he won't be a drag! Again, if you go in, can you handle that ghost? If not, just shut up!]

[He just failed to break free from Fang Chen. Isn't his strength not even comparable to that of an ordinary player?!]

[He has a fever, okay?! ]

The barrage of comments inexplicably evolved from a discussion of a rural love story to a quarrel that turned into a short essay that could fill several screens. Finally, an audience member spoke up to stop the fight.

[Sisters in front, calm down. Didn’t Fang Chen notice that he and Shi Yu had barely spoken to each other before and weren’t familiar with each other, but when he found out that she was sick, he still rushed to take care of her and didn’t give up? ]

[Not reminding, not giving hints, not talking about other players' attitudes, not saying anything about the game, just saying a few words of hospice care, and you're not giving up? ? ]

[Wasn't it Cheng Wuye who asked Fang Chen to go in the first place in order to guard against him? He made him vomit and have a fever, but he still had to send his teammates to investigate. Although it is a good thing to be on guard in the game, this kind of guard is really too much, isn't it?! ]

[This is why I like watching the game live broadcasts of Xia Jiutian. Isn’t it more interesting to watch the interaction between strangers than the group battles of Shang Jiutian? ]

[Are you sure you didn't come to Xiajiutian for free because it costs money to live stream on Shangjiutian? ]

[So am I the only one who thinks Cheng Wuye was just worried about Master Meiren and asked someone else to check on him? ]
