A gentle breeze caressed the lakeside, causing willow branches to sway and sunlight to filter through the leaves, creating patches of dappled light on the ground.
People strolled along the lake, their laughter and chatter filling the air.
However, this tranquility was shattered by a startled exclamation.
"Ah! My phone..."
Hey, you over there!
Li Tianyi's voice suddenly rang out, his gaze as sharp as a hawk's, instantly catching sight of the furtive figure ahead.
Just as a thief had succeeded in stealing the item and was about to make his escape, Li Tianyi rushed over in three strides.
"Hey! You little thief, don't run away!"
Li Tianyi's movements were clean and swift; with a single grappling move, the thief was instantly pinned to the ground, unable to move.
"Oh dear, brother, this is a misunderstanding!"
The thief screamed in pain, cold sweat pouring down his forehead, while still trying to deny it: "I didn't do anything!"
Li Tianyi sneered, pulled several cell phones from his pocket, and slammed them down in front of him.
"You still dare to say you didn't do it? With so many wallets involved, how do you plan to explain this?"
A murmur rippled through the crowd, with some whispering, "This thief is too audacious! He stole so many phones!"
Just then, Li Tianyi's gaze fell on one of the red phones.
He paused for a moment.
"The person on this screensaver... why does he look so familiar?"
He flipped the phone over to the back and immediately saw a business card inside that read "Ning Rushuang, Attending Physician at the Hospital".
Li Tianyi suddenly realized, a look of surprise flashing across his eyes.
"Isn't this the doctor that Young Master Lin and Butler Xia mentioned earlier?"
He slowly raised his head, his gaze turning to Lin Yuan, who was returning not far away, his eyes filled with a hint of inquiry: "Young Master Lin, this phone..."
Upon hearing this, Lin Yuan also walked closer, glanced at it, and a meaningful smile appeared on his lips.
He reached out and took it, a flicker of surprise flashing in his eyes: "Ning Rushuang? What a coincidence?"
Seeing this, Li Tianyi quickly handed the phone to Lin Yuan.
"Young Master Lin, this looks like Ning Rushuang's, the doctor that Butler Xia mentioned!"
Lin Yuan raised his head, his gaze leisurely sweeping over the crowd surrounding him, finally settling gently on a woman not far away dressed in simple jeans and a pure white T-shirt.
She stood there, her face a mixture of confusion and anxiety, frantically searching for her lost item in the crowd.
A faint smile appeared on Lin Yuan's lips as he caught sight of an amusing scene about to unfold.
"Li Tianyi, go and call that beautiful lady over."
Li Tianyi nodded upon hearing this, then turned around and walked gracefully toward Ning Rushuang.
His voice was gentle yet witty.
"Her phone was found by a kind person on our side."
Upon hearing this, Ning Rushuang immediately looked up in the direction Li Tianyi was pointing and saw the phone in Lin Yuan's hand.
"It's mine! Thank you so much!"
"Miss, you're really lucky. With Young Master Lin here, you've managed to get your phone back."
Ning Rushuang frowned slightly, seemingly somewhat familiar with the name.
Ning Rushuang frowned slightly, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes, as if this name had stirred up a ripple deep in her memory.
"Young Master Lin?"
Her voice held a tentative tone, as if she were confirming something.
In her memory, there was a kind person also surnamed Lin, but the person in front of her felt somewhat unfamiliar.
Li Tianyi smiled slightly, said nothing more, but turned back to Lin Yuan's side and said in a low voice, "Young Master Lin, it's her."
Lin Yuan nodded slightly, a meaningful smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
His gaze returned to Ning Rushuang, carrying a scrutinizing tone, as if he were waiting for the start of a captivating drama.
He casually raised his hand, his fingertips lightly brushing against the collar of his sharp suit, his tone unhurried: "Dr. Ning, in a formal setting, it seems we're meeting for the first time."
Upon hearing this, Ning Rushuang showed a hint of surprise, which quickly turned into a polite and gentle smile.
But her eyes flickered involuntarily, as if she was deliberately avoiding his overly deep gaze.
"Hello, I am Ning Rushuang. I encountered a little mishap today and accidentally lost my phone. Thank you so much for your help."
"Dr. Ning, you were really careless. How could you lose something so important? Luckily, I ran into you today, or it would have been a real problem."
His tone was relaxed and casual, with a hint of teasing, as if he were playing with a mischievous kitten.
Ning Rushuang's brows furrowed slightly, revealing a barely perceptible chill, and her eyes widened in distance: "I appreciate your help."
Her gaze lingered briefly on Lin Yuan before casually sweeping over Xia Qingxue, Xu Lan, and Li Tianyi, a faint, almost imperceptible expression of gratitude playing on her lips.
She treated Lin Yuan with the same distance as when they first met, as if the two had never crossed paths before.
In reality, Ning Rushuang was secretly harboring a lot of resentment.
Unexpectedly, Lin Yuan was two-timing?
They were on a date here, and I just happened to stumble upon them.
Recalling the last time, it was Lin Yuan who helped her get rid of the persistent suitors. Her gratitude should have remained as warm as ever, but now it has cooled down due to some inexplicable emotion.
"Scumbag!"
Ning Rushuang cursed inwardly, a hint of contempt flashing in her eyes, determined to shut out her impatience completely.
I never want to have any further entanglement with the person in front of me in this life; that resolve is clear and firm.
