Ning Xiaoxiao lay on the bed, her body slightly curled up, her hands gently placed on her bulging belly.
Her eyes revealed a hint of worry and uneasiness, because she knew that the child's condition was unstable and she needed to take better care of herself.
After lying in bed for so long, she began to feel a bit irritable. Gazing out the window at the sunlight, she felt a strange sense of loneliness. She missed her workday, those busy and fulfilling days. However, now she was confined to bed, unable to move freely as before.
"Oh, I really hope I can get through this stage quickly." She whispered to herself, with a hint of helplessness in her eyes.
Just then, Lu Yongzheng walked in, holding a bowl of hot chicken soup. Seeing Ning Xiaoxiao's expression, his heart tightened. He walked over and sat beside the bed, and asked gently, "What's wrong, Xiaoxiao? Are you feeling unwell?"
Ning Xiaoxiao shook her head, trying to look strong: "It's okay, I'm just a little bored."
Lu Yongzheng looked at her distressedly and gently held her hand: "I know this period of time is very difficult for you, but you must believe that we will definitely get through this difficult time. I will always be by your side and take care of you and the child."
Ning Xiaoxiao listened to her husband's words, and the uneasiness in her heart gradually subsided. She knew that with Lu Yongzheng by her side, she would be more powerful to face all this. So, she smiled and nodded: "Thank you, Yongzheng. With you here, I'm not afraid anymore."
However, Lu Yongzheng's mind was filled with a different story. He resented the endless care and concern, yet he had to continue playing the role of a good husband. He knew he couldn't show any dissatisfaction, as his family needed the Ning family's financial support.
So, he took a deep breath and tried to make himself look more concerned about Ning Xiaoxiao: "Don't worry, Xiaoxiao. I will always be with you."
The phone in his pocket kept vibrating, so Lu Yongzheng found an excuse to leave the room.
When will you come over?
It’s Wen Shujun’s message.
(Wait a minute, she's not asleep yet.)
Damn, Wen Shujun was furious when she saw Lu Yongzheng’s reply.
"What's wrong?" Gan Lin asked hurriedly when he saw Wen Shujun's expression.
She was having a great time playing games when she was startled by the sound of Wen Shujun throwing her phone.
"What are you doing? Let's play games."
"I'm so annoyed. Go home. I want to rest for a while." Wen Shujun pulled Gan Lin up and pushed him out the door.
"Hey, are you sick? Did you have a seizure today? You're in such a bad mood." Gan Lin was also unhappy.
(If you don’t come now, don’t come again in the future.) Wen Shujun typed this sentence quickly.
(What are you talking about? I'm busy, don't you know?)
(I don’t care what you are busy with, come if you want.)
Ning Xiaoxiao also heard Lu Yongzheng's phone vibrating.
Who's been looking for him so late?
"Yong Zheng, who is she?" Ning Xiaoxiao couldn't help but ask.
"Oh, it's Wu Huibin and the others. They were just looking for me to go out for a midnight snack. Look, they are so ignorant, knowing that I am accompanying my wife." Lu Yongzheng smiled.
"Is that so?"
"I'm going out to make a phone call."
Lu Yongzheng hugged Ning Xiaoxiao and walked out of the room.
