Chapter 82 Taking on a critical mission, in overall charge

"On-site command," "core technology," and "full cooperation"—

The chief engineer's words echoed like thunderclaps in the large conference room, making many people's eardrums buzz. In an instant, all eyes were once again focused on Liu Li, but this time, the questioning and scrutiny were tinged with disbelief and a hidden worry.

Let her take charge? A young female technician who has only been with the factory for a little over a year, directing a group of experienced master craftsmen and mechanics/electricians? This is practically the first time since the Hongxing Machinery Factory was established!

Old Chen opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to say something, but seeing the chief engineer's unquestionable expression, and Wang Jianguo's steady demeanor and Fu Jingchen's firm support, he ultimately swallowed his words, gave a heavy snort, and turned his head away.

The pressure felt like a heavy iron clamp, tightening around Liu Li's heart and making it hard for her to breathe. She knew exactly what this "overall responsibility" meant—success would be a tremendous honor; but failure, or a misjudgment that wasted precious time, could render all her previous efforts and the trust she had built up meaningless, and would also implicate Master Wang and Engineer Fu, who had supported her.

But she had no time to hesitate or be timid. The chief engineer's words, "Give me a clear answer in the shortest possible time," were like a resounding war drum.

"Yes!" Liu Li's voice was clear and powerful, suppressing all distracting thoughts. She quickly turned to the mechanics foreman and electrician foreman who were already waiting, her eyes sharp and her tone decisive, no longer offering explanations when faced with questions, but instead filled with the directive of action.

"Squad Leader Li," she said to the maintenance squad leader, "please arrange for people to immediately disassemble the protective cover connecting the feed system and the main drive box, focusing on inspecting the internal mechanical safety interlock rod, travel limit stop, and their corresponding microswitch assembly. When disassembling, be sure to pay attention to the order and clearly label each part and wire number!"

"Yes, sir!" Although Sergeant Li still had a hint of surprise on his face, he was used to obeying orders as a soldier, especially clear instructions from the chief engineer at such a critical moment.

"Squad Leader Zhang," Liu Li then looked at the electrician squad leader, "please prepare multimeters and megohmmeters, and focus on monitoring the continuity and signal changes of interlocking circuits and control circuits. Once the mechanics team exposes a fault, an electrical verification must be performed immediately."

"Understood!" Foreman Zhang, the electrician, pushed up his glasses and nodded in agreement.

“Master Wang,” Liu Li said, turning to Wang Jianguo with respect and a tone of inquiry, “during the disassembly and inspection, please keep an eye on the fit clearances and wear of the key components. You are very experienced, and no subtle abnormality can escape your notice.”

Wang Jianguo nodded and said succinctly, "Don't worry about it, I'll keep an eye on things."

Fu Jingchen also stepped forward: "I will assist with the verification of the drawings and the analysis of the signal logic."

With just a few simple words, a temporary emergency repair team, centered around Liu Li and encompassing top-notch mechanical, electrical, and inspection personnel, was quickly formed, with clearly defined responsibilities and division of labor. Her calmness, organization, and overall control reassured the two initially apprehensive team leaders.

"Let's get started!" Liu Li waved her hand, no longer delaying.

In an instant, the previously heated debate in the meeting room dissipated, and the key personnel quickly moved to the site of the malfunctioning equipment in the workshop. The heavy tool cabinet was opened, emitting a metallic scraping sound, and various professional disassembly tools and measuring instruments were taken out one by one, while the lights were focused more on the massive body of the gantry planer.

Liu Li stood in front of the machine tool and took a deep breath of the air, which smelled strongly of machine oil. She could feel her heart beating strongly in her chest, not out of fear, but out of a pre-battle excitement and a great sense of responsibility.

She glanced back at Master Wang and Engineer Fu beside her, as well as the experienced workers who had already begun their work, and felt reassured.

No matter what, the problem had to be found! She crouched down, her eyes sharp, and began guiding the mechanic to pinpoint the location of the first bolt to be removed. A race against time officially began in the brightly lit workshop that night.
