16. Twin Pearls (Part 2)

16. Twin Pearls (Part 2)

Outside Huaguo Mansion

In the pouring rain, a young man in a dishevelled state sat in the corner of the wall, letting the rain ruthlessly wash over his weak body. His already pale face looked even paler in the rain.

"Get up!" A handsome young man in white landed lightly not far from him, holding an oil-paper umbrella in his hand to protect himself from the rain. Compared with his clean and refreshing appearance, the young man looked even more miserable and destitute.

Mo Xiuyao sneered, walked up to Feng Zhiyao and squatted down, "What? Don't you want to live?"

"Mind your own business!" Feng Zhiyao closed his eyes impatiently. He was in a very bad mood. Even if the person in front of him was his good friend, he didn't want to pay attention to him. Mo Xiuyao sneered, "Since you look half dead, why don't you just die? Maybe Sister Hua will shed a few tears for you when she sees your pitiful appearance."

"Mo Xiuyao! Go to hell!" Feng Zhiyao roared, and rushed towards his friend who was squatting in front of him and laughing at him. He was in great need of venting his anger, and why wouldn't he beat someone who deserved a beating? The angry boy was dizzy and forgot that he couldn't just beat the guy in front of him.

Sure enough, just as he started to move, Mo Xiuyao, who was squatting in front of him, stood up and stepped back several steps. Feng Zhiyao's attack immediately missed. People who are in a bad mood are always easy to get angry. If Feng Zhiyao missed his attack normally, he would definitely stop, but at this time, he seemed to be determined to fight with Mo Xiuyao. He stood up and punched Mo Xiuyao in the face. Mo Xiuyao raised his eyebrows and gave way, and Feng Zhiyao attacked again. The two of them started to fight back and forth in the rain. The only difference was that Feng Zhiyao was not only wet, but also covered with mud, as if he had rolled in a quagmire. Mo Xiuyao, on the other hand, was dressed in white, holding an umbrella in one hand. Even though it was windy and rainy, not a single drop of rain wet his white clothes. It was as if he was not fighting with anyone but taking a leisurely walk in the spring rain.

When Feng Zhiyao finally ran out of strength, Mo Xiuyao smiled and kicked him several feet away. Looking at Feng Zhiyao who was lying in the mud and too lazy to even crawl, he said, "I am going to the southern border tomorrow. Do you want to go with me? If you want to go, get up and follow me. If you want to die, stay lying down." After saying that, he turned around and left without caring whether Feng Zhiyao could get up or not.

Feng Zhiyao crawled on the muddy ground, letting the rain hit his pale and handsome face. After a long time, he slowly got up. He looked back at a place in Washington that was still lit in the night, and turned to the direction where Mo Xiuyao left.

Seventeen years later

In a small manor outside of Licheng, Hua Yunxi sat alone by the window, staring at Qiuju outside the courtyard in a daze. Although she was already over 30 years old, the years had not left too many traces on her beautiful face. On the contrary, the aura of a famous family and the fact that she had once been the mother of a country made her more noble than ordinary women.

"mother!"

Mo Wuyou pushed the door open and walked in, smiling. Hua Yunxi quickly stood up, walked over to her daughter and said softly, "Why did you leave the city? You are pregnant and you don't stay here properly." Mo Wuyou coquettishly leaned against her mother and said, "Wuyou is pregnant, but mother still refused to stay in the city to take care of her daughter, so she had no choice but to leave."

"Nonsense." Hua Yunxi helplessly tapped her daughter's forehead and said with a smile: "Your mother-in-law is taking good care of you, why do you need me? You are also a sensible and good child. It is extremely rare to have a mother-in-law like the eldest lady of the Xu family. What nonsense are you talking about?"

Mo Wuyou stuck out her tongue. She certainly didn't mean to be dissatisfied with her mother-in-law. She just wanted to make trouble with her mother. Looking at her mother, Mo Wuyou rolled her eyes and said, "By the way, mother, I just saw Uncle Feng San outside. Why didn't he come in?"

Hearing this, Hua Yunxi was stunned for a moment and said, "He's fine, he will leave soon."

Mo Wuyou smiled doubtfully. She had seen everything Feng Zhiyuan had done in the past few years. As a daughter, it would be a lie to say that she really wanted her mother to find a stepfather for her. But Mo Wuyou also knew her mother's hard work and grievances over the years, as well as Feng Zhiyuan's obsession. If Feng Zhiyuan hadn't insisted on robbing her mother from the palace, she would probably be dead now.

Feng Zhiyao has already passed the age of thirty, but he still insists on going against Feng Zhihuai's wishes and refuses to get married. He is even more concerned about his mother, and to be honest, even Xu Qingbai is not so attentive to her. His mother is only in her thirties now, and she still has a lot to live. If possible, Mo Wuyou naturally hopes that his mother can live a happy life in the second half of her life.

"Mom, why don't you let Uncle Feng San come in and have a good talk. Judging from his look, I'm afraid he won't leave easily." Mo Wuyou advised softly.

Hua Yunxi sighed bitterly. How could she not understand Feng Zhiyao's feelings after all these years? But even though she understood, the reality was that he was one of the most trusted people in Prince Ding's Mansion, with a high position and a promising future. And she was the widow of the previous emperor. Even though she had changed her name, how could she really deceive the world? If they got together, it would not only ruin Feng Zhiyao's reputation, but also Mo Wuyou, the Xu family, and even the reputation of Prince Ding's Mansion.

How could Mo Wuyou not see Hua Yunxi's concerns, but she didn't know how to persuade her mother. Prince Ding and the princess wouldn't care about these, and neither would the Xu family, but no matter how she persuaded her mother, she still couldn't let it go.

"Since mother doesn't want to see Uncle Fengsan, go and send him away without worry."

Hua Yunxi did not comment. Mo Wuyou shook his head with some regret and turned to leave.

"Uncle Feng San." Outside the door, a handsome man in red was wandering outside the yard anxiously. He turned around in surprise when he heard Mo Wuyou's voice, but his eyes dimmed when he did not see the figure he wanted to see.

"She still refuses to see me?" Feng Zhiyao asked in a low voice. Although he was already over thirty years old, the third son of Feng, dressed in red, was still handsome and extraordinary. He had experienced countless battles and was even more sharp and calm. The third son of Feng was no longer the hopeless dandy of Chu Jing. He had already achieved success, but he still couldn't get what he wanted most. After Mo Wuyou got married, Hua Yunxi moved out of Licheng and lived in a villa at the foot of a mountain not far from Lishan Academy. Since then, she had been living in seclusion, and recently she even refused to see him.

Mo Wuyou shook his head apologetically, and his eyes towards Feng Zhiyuan were filled with pity. She knew her mother's character very well. Once she made up her mind to do something, it would be difficult for her to change her mind.

Feng Zhiyao's smile was somewhat bitter. Mo Wuyou couldn't help but feel a lot of pity when he saw his gloomy expression. "Well, Uncle Feng, why don't you go back first. Maybe in a couple of days, mother will be in a better mood..."

Feng Zhiyao shook her head and said, "Forget it. Please help me get something for your mother." Mo Wuyou nodded, and Feng Zhiyao took out a walnut-sized light purple night-shining pearl from her arms and put it in her hand. Mo Wuyou frowned as she looked at the thing in her hand, feeling a strange sense of familiarity. Soon, Mo Wuyou remembered that her mother did have a night-shining pearl similar to this one. It's just that the silk string that her mother was wearing at that moment was light red, while this one was dark blue. She had asked her mother for it when she was a child, but her mother, who always doted on her, did not give it to her.

"Don't worry, Uncle Feng, Wuyou will definitely bring it to you." Mo Wuyou nodded and promised.

Feng Zhiyao forced a wry smile and said, "Thank you very much. Bye."

Looking at Xiao Se's back as Feng Zhiyao walked away, Mo Wuyou sighed deeply.

"Rejected again." A young man in black landed lightly on the wall, holding his chin with a smile and sighed as he watched Feng Zhiyao leave. "I would rather tear down ten temples than regret one marriage. I never thought that I would have to be a matchmaker again. I wonder how Feng San will repay me? He will surely be so moved that he will cry and express his gratitude to me, and then swear to go through fire and water for me, right?"

"He will try his best to restrain himself from killing you." On the wall, another boy who was one or two years younger said expressionlessly.

"Brother Zhirui, can you please have some bottom line when you are ungrateful? How miserable is my life to have met a cousin like you who would ungratefully destroy my brother?" Young Master Mo said with resentment.

Classmate Xu Zhirui's mouth twitched, and he asked gloomily: "Why should I cross the river?! Do you remember my cousin?" Digging a hole for people to jump into and then pulling them out and expecting them to be grateful, does Mo Xiaobao think that everyone in the world has the same problem with their brains as him?

Mo Xiaobao touched his nose with a sense of guilt and sighed, "No matter what, for the future of Mr. Feng San, I'll fight!"

"Aunt Hua! Aunt Hua!" In the room, Hua Yunxi was lost in thought while holding the night-light pearl that Mo Wuyou had given her. Mo Xiaobao's anxious voice came from outside the door. Without waiting for Hua Yunxi to speak, Mo Xiaobao rushed in directly, "Aunt Hua, Aunt Hua! Have you seen Feng San?"

Hua Yunxi was stunned, looked at Mo Wuyou and said, "He... just left, what happened?"

"Gone?!" Mo Xiaobao screamed in horror, "Why did he leave? Where...where did he go?"

"What happened?" Hua Yunxi asked hurriedly, her heart tense.

Mo Xiaobao's face was heavy. "It's over. He must have thought that there was no business, so he went to find a place to fend for himself. Quick! Quick... We must send someone to find him quickly. Mr. Shen said that his illness can't be delayed any longer."

"Illness? What disease did he have?" Hua Yunxi's face turned pale, and she pulled Mo Xiaobao and asked anxiously. Mo Wuyou, who was standing behind her, frowned in confusion. She had just seen Feng Zhiyao, and although he looked a little bad, he didn't look like he had any disease.

Mo Xiaobao shook his head weakly and said, "Mr. Shen didn't say...he just said that he might not live for more than three months. Feng San just told my father that he wanted to leave for a while, and then he ran away. My father and mother are sending people to look for him everywhere, and asked me to come and see if he has come here."

Hua Yunxi's body swayed and she almost fell to the ground. Mo Wuyou quickly supported her and was about to speak when he saw Mo Xiaobao's eyes. After hesitating for a moment, Hua Yunxi asked, "Wuyou...what else did he say when he left?"

Mo Wuyou really couldn't bear to lie to his mother, but he didn't want to ruin Mo Xiaobao's plan, so he could only say, "No... Uncle Feng San only asked Wuyou to give the things to mother."

Hua Yunxi took out another pearl with some trembling. Two almost identical purple night-shining pearls lay quietly in her hands, emitting a soft and gorgeous light. The same old silk thread, the same heart-shaped knot, only the eyes of one were light red and the other dark blue, it was obvious that they were a pair. Hua Yunxi suddenly remembered a rainy night many years ago, the boy's stubborn and dim eyes and pale face.

Seeing Hua Yunxi's stunned eyes, Mo Xiaobao's eyes turned and he said with a hint of tears: "Feng San told father that he wanted to do what he wanted to do most. Aunt Hua, do you know what Feng San wanted to do most? Where is he going back to?"

She knew, but she chased him away!

"He...he...I'll go find him!" After saying that, Hua Yunxi turned around and rushed out.

In the room behind her, Mo Xiaobao put down his hand that was covering his face. His handsome face was full of smiles. Where was the trace of tears? Mo Wuyou frowned, stared at Mo Xiaobao and said, "What do you want to do now?"

Mo Xiaobao smiled sweetly and innocently, "Sister Wuyou, don't you think they are wasting everyone's time and energy by keeping them hanging like this?"

What does this have to do with you? Mo Wuyou thought silently.

Mo Xiaobao sighed helplessly, looking at the bright and sad sky outside the window. Last time, he played a little trick on Feng San, causing Feng San to be in a state of inactivity at work during this period. His unscrupulous father thought that it was all his fault, so he asked him to solve all of Feng San's problems immediately. God knows, even if he hadn't been messing around, Feng San wouldn't be able to handle Aunt Hua, right?

"Is this okay?" Mo Wuyou asked doubtfully.

"If Feng San still doesn't know how to take advantage of this, then he can go die." Mo Xiaobao said expressionlessly. It is really unreasonable to force others to be responsible for mistakes that are not their own fault!

On a cliff somewhere outside Li City, Hua Yunxi asked the nearby people along the way. As soon as he walked onto the cliff, he saw Feng Zhiyuan standing on the edge of the cliff with his back to him, standing in the wind as if a gust of wind could blow him down.

"Zhiyuan, what are you doing?" Hua Yunxi was panting a little while walking. But when she saw the red-clothed figure on the edge of the cliff, her heart suddenly rose, and she dared not even breathe.

Feng Zhiyao turned around, looked at her and said calmly: "Sister Hua, why are you here?"

Hua Yunxi said softly, "What are you doing here? If you have anything to say, come over first and we can talk slowly, okay?" Feng Zhiyao smiled bitterly and said, "There's nothing much to say. I was ignorant before and made Sister Hua upset. In the future... I won't do that again in the future."

Seeing his heart-broken look, Hua Yunxi felt as if her heart was being pinched tightly. "Zhiyuan, no matter what happens... we will slowly figure it out, and it will get better. Can you come over first? I'm a little scared if you stand there."

Feng Zhiyao shook his head and smiled, "It's nice here, Sister Hua, you can go back. I won't bother you again in the future." After saying that, Feng Zhiyao turned around and leaned forward slightly.

"Zhiyao!?" Hua Yunxi couldn't help but scream and wanted to reach out to grab him. But she was not close to Feng Zhiyao. If Feng Zhiyao really wanted to commit suicide, she would not be able to catch him in time. Moreover, with her body shape and strength, she would definitely not be able to hold Feng Zhiyao back. A fear she had never experienced before spread throughout her body and mind, "Zhiyao, didn't you say you would take care of me? Are you going to break your promise?"

Feng Zhi paused for a moment, then shook his head slowly and said, "I won't be able to take care of Sister Hua for a long time in the future."

"It doesn't matter. It'll take as long as it takes. And... who can tell what will happen in the future?" Hua Yunxi said nervously.

Feng Zhiyao turned around, looked at her and said, "Sister Hua, are you feeling sorry for me again? Just like when we were little..."

Hua Yunxi shook her head and said, "No...no, I'm sorry, I was wrong before. I cared about other people's opinions. I know...I know you are sincere to me."

"Then...what do you think of me?" Feng Zhiyao asked expectantly.

Hua Yunxi hesitated for a moment, holding the two pearls in her hand and said firmly: "I can't guarantee that I have that thought now, but I want to give it a try. Yuan, are you willing to try with me?"

"Even if I can only say three months?"

Hua Yunxi nodded solemnly.

After a long time, Feng Zhiyao finally slowly left the cliff and walked towards Hua Yunxi. Hua Yunxi's heart, which had been hanging in the air, finally slowly let go, and her feet softened and she fell to the ground. She was not a strong woman to begin with, and she had been walking all the way almost entirely relying on her willpower. Now that she saw that Feng Zhiyao was fine, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and could no longer hold on.

Feng Zhiyuan stepped down a little, quickly rushed to her side and caught her falling body, "Sister Hua... No, Yunxi, are you really willing to marry me?" Hua Yunxi was stunned, looking at Feng Zhiyuan's eyes full of expectation and joy, but she could no longer say no. Finally, she nodded slightly.

"Really?! That's great... Yunxi, I'm so happy..." Feng Zhiyao hugged her tightly and couldn't help laughing out loud.

Mo Xiaobao and Xu Zhirui, who had followed Hua Yunxi all the way here, were lazily leaning against a large tree at the foot of the mountain. Mo Xiaobao's handsome face was twisted in a sinister way, "Is Feng Zhiyao too happy too early?"

Xu Zhirui glanced at him lazily, "Shouldn't you be happy that your wish has come true? Are you jealous?"

"Shouldn't he first consider what to do if he doesn't die in three months?" Mo Xiaobao gritted his teeth. This was his idea. Did he plan it well? Where's the gratitude? Where's the thanks? Where's the dedication?

“…”

Holding his beloved on the cliff, Mr. Feng San had no time to think about what would happen in three months. He only knew that after all these years, he finally caught the beautiful figure that had once made him obsessed and yearning, but could not get her. The heart that seemed to be missing something since the first time he saw her, suddenly became full, warm and fulfilled at this moment.

Hua Yunxi leaned weakly in Feng Zhiyao's arms, not wanting to struggle any more. In this world, no man had a love for her that was more genuine than Feng Zhiyao's, and no man could make her feel such heart-wrenching pain as Feng Zhiyao did.

That's enough.

You know that I have a husband, yet you gave me two pearls.

I am grateful for your affection, which is tied to my red silk blouse.

My house has tall buildings and a garden, and my husband holds a spear in the bright light.

I know that your love is as great as the sun and the moon, and that you are willing to share life and death with your husband.

I return your pearl with tears in my eyes, and I regret that we did not meet before I got married.

(Double Pearls, End)

-------A side note-------

Actually, the name of this poem is a bit forced here, just like the name of the extra chapter, but Feng really likes this poem. The ending of Feng San is finally a happy ending~ Although it may not feel as beautiful as the first two, but Su is extremely eager for tragedy, this is the best happy ending I can give~ A friend got married these two days, and I had a drink and casually lamented that I am getting old. I haven't updated on time, please forgive me... Next... Who is Su?
