Chapter 2 The goal is to make him cry with a kiss.
A loud bang.
The door was opened.
The sharp tinnitus stopped abruptly.
A wave of hot air and boisterous voices rushed towards us.
At the entrance of Jianglan Experimental School, a private car was parked in the temporary parking area outside the school gate. The parent, sweating profusely, jumped out of the driver's seat, walked a few steps to the trunk, pulled out the suitcase, threw it to the sidewalk, clapped his hands, and looked relieved.
There was another loud bang.
The trunk closed, the car disappeared into the traffic, and sped away without looking back.
The hottest and most vibrant summer day is late August in Wuhan. The weather is like a blazing fire, making the asphalt roads scorching hot.
Traffic jams are a complete mess during the start of the school season, and some impatient parents simply don't bother with detours and let their children walk across the street by themselves.
The boy who stayed behind wasn't annoyed. He glanced at the surrounding crowd and quickly recognized a few familiar faces. With a smirk, he walked over and greeted them.
A few people were blowing bubbles with their chewing gum and joking around. He was walking at the very back when he accidentally bumped into a girl who was walking slowly along the edge of the sidewalk.
The blue and white striped school uniform sleeves were already short, and when my skin accidentally touched the girl's delicate arm, it was a coldness that didn't belong to this weather, like the ice cubes in a bubble tea on a summer day.
The boy was taken aback and instinctively turned around to apologize, but he froze when he saw the girl's profile.
Her jet-black hair was tied up high, revealing a clean and well-behaved face. Her eyelashes were thick and slightly curled, and the hem of her skirt above her knees swayed gently with her steps, outlining a section of her straight and smooth legs.
"Haozi, what are you looking at? Have you gone mad?"
"We're going to be late, what are you daydreaming about? Let's go."
The boy was pulled away by his companions and had no choice but to move away from the girl's back. In the process, he accidentally swallowed his chewing gum.
"So...so sweet."
"Are you really stupid?" the people around him laughed and scolded.
"How sweet can chewing gum be?"
Zhang Hao chuckled and tried to point out the sweet girl to them, but a basketball fell straight down from the sky, barely grazing the girl's slender legs. It bounced once on the sidewalk and finally landed right between two short stone pillars in the green belt.
His ball skills are pretty good, but his techniques for attracting girls' attention are a bit outdated.
The girl's skirt swayed gently in the breeze. She stopped and turned to look at the person who had thrown the ball.
Just as Zhang Hao was pondering whether he should also practice his ball skills and try to emulate this style next time, he heard a soft laugh beside him.
Her thick eyelashes fluttered a few times, their curves as smooth as feathers, and the corners of her lips lifted slightly, highlighting her under-eye bags and making her look even more obedient and innocent.
Yet, her eyes are strikingly upturned at the corners, and her light brown eyes, like translucent amber, conceal a subtle sharpness, like a fox lurking in the light and shadow.
Slender fingers slowly extended the middle one, and she chuckled softly.
"Idiot, moron."
His pronunciation was clear and resonant, and his words were forceful and clear.
Both the tone and voice were exactly as Zhang Hao had imagined—soft-spoken and gentle.
But the lines seemed a little different from what he had imagined.
Ning Jiu glanced at the boy who threw the ball, his face flushed with anger, then withdrew her sweet smile and turned to leave without looking back.
Adolescent boys are too immature and too homogenous in their psychology.
It breaks easily with the slightest poke; is it a flammable and explosive hydrogen balloon?
Ning Jiu's mood was anything but good because Yuan Shu had suddenly called her this morning.
For someone who's always looking for trouble, it's already being polite not to throw the ball back at their face.
Recalling that phone call this morning, even though we were more than 8,000 kilometers apart, the woman's voice was as calm and peaceful as ever, as if nothing could affect her emotions.
"Xiao Jiu, I heard you transferred to a school in Jiangcheng."
She paused for a moment, clearly wanting to say something, but in the end, she only left behind a faint, undefined instruction.
"Once Mom is done with this busy period, she'll fly back from Germany to see you."
Which period is this?
I really hate it when Yuan Shu tries to fool her with the tone of someone trying to fool a child.
The shadow cast by the gate pulled Ning Jiu back to reality. Following the security guard's instructions, she walked to a teaching building.
Looking up, the clean, white building looked newly renovated; a faint smell of white paint could be smelled from it. Going up to the third floor, several boys were busy moving books near the classroom door, while a middle-aged man in a teacher's uniform was frantically directing them, holding a pair of reading glasses to wipe them. His eyes unexpectedly met Ning Jiu's at the bottom of the stairs—
"Alright, alright, let's take a break. Let's go inside and avoid the sun."
The accent was standard, and the meaning was still somewhat discernible.
Old Qin put his glasses back on, wiped the sweat from his brow, and waved to Ningjiu.
"Hey, girl."
Ning Jiu looked at him.
Old Qin: "You must be Ning Bar."
There are four classes on the third floor, but only one of them is his student class. With so many students coming and going to register, even if you've seen her photo beforehand, you might not be able to recognize her at a glance from this distance.
A meticulousness that is completely at odds with his appearance.
Ning Jiu nodded, and Lao Qin beckoned her into the teachers' office.
The air conditioning in the teachers' office was on full blast. After glancing around at his colleagues who were all writing lesson plans, Lao Qin tiptoed to his seat, picked up the teacup on the table to drink, when the girl standing next to him suddenly spoke up.
"Teacher Qin, watch out for the charging cable."
Old Qin glanced at the filing table and saw that a phone charging cable was indeed wrapped around the edge of the coaster, with the connector clearly visible in one corner. If he had just put the wet teacup directly into his hand, it could very likely have short-circuited.
After thanking her with a "Oh dear," Lao Qin quickly put the charging cable aside and took the transfer form from the girl's slender wrist.
Because I had already looked at it once in the school archives, my eyes quickly scanned it, but paused slightly on the parent section.
"Ning Jiu, there are significant differences in the teaching materials and methods between Jianglan Experimental School and Lingcheng No. 8 Middle School. You were transferred to Class 8 because of your parents' job relocation and your excellent grades, which is considered a special approval from the school. If you experience any difficulties adjusting after the transfer, please tell me. Don't keep it to yourself. The students in Class 8 are all quite bright. You can also try to make more friends with them..."
Old Qin's mouth opened and closed, and he talked more and more, showing no sign of stopping.
Ning Jiu lowered her eyes, looking obedient and attentive, but her little habit couldn't help but creep in.
The teacher's uniform in front of me wasn't ironed properly and looked a bit old. The shirt was buttoned all the way up, revealing only half of his neck.
The teacups on the table were covered in unwashed tea stains, and the personal belongings on the teaching materials table were somewhat messy, while the students' test papers were placed in the innermost position.
The partition and the area above the computer screen were covered with neatly written notes, revealing the teacher's background in Chinese language, which seemed out of place with details like the teacup and shirt.
The person who will soon become her high school homeroom teacher—
He turned out to be an easy-going, unpretentious, and passionate Chinese language teacher.
As Lao Qin was speaking eloquently, the door was suddenly flung open, startling the surrounding teachers.
Old Qin was also quite frightened. After regaining his senses, he immediately stood up, grabbed the person's ear, and pulled him out the door.
"Li Mingyuan, how many times is this now? When are you finally going to learn to open the door more quietly? Huh?"
The last note was very heavy, and the imposing presence of a top-level teacher was palpable.
Li Mingyuan was dragged out by the ear, making a fuss. I glanced at Ning Jiu's location out of the corner of my eye and couldn't help but call out.
It's so sweet, so incredibly sweet...
How can there be such a beautiful girl!
"Me? What do you mean, 'me go'?"
Li Mingyuan was kicked in the butt, neither lightly nor heavily. When he looked up, he met Old Qin's "I've seen through you all along" gaze.
......
The first person to get distracted while looking at a beautiful woman after having their ear pulled.
"Have mercy! I'm here to report important 'military intelligence'," Li Mingyuan said, only now remembering his business. He straightened up. "Berlin went to Beijing yesterday after participating in the second round of the National High School Entrance Examination with the provincial team. He'll probably be here a little late today."
"Why didn't you say so earlier?" Upon hearing this, Old Qin's expression changed, and he let go of his hand to ask, "You just finished the exam and you're flying to Beijing right away? So urgent?"
Li Mingyuan laughed: "Why don't you ask me how he felt after the exam?"
"Is that even a question?" Old Qin said calmly, with a casual expression. "Based on what the provincial team coach has been telling me about Berlin these past few days, the result is probably pretty much the same."
As if remembering something, he turned his head and looked at Ning Jiu, who was still in the teachers' office, his expression softening considerably.
"Come on, Ning Jiu, get to know your new classmate."
Ning Jiu greeted Li Mingyuan, who grinned and said his name, his smile looking strangely silly.
The sun slowly rose to its highest point, so bright that it was hard to open one's eyes. Inside the classroom, the students were busy cleaning and distributing books, and Ning Jiu naturally joined in.
She was naturally beautiful and well-behaved, making it easy for people to feel close to her.
He readily accepted the tasks of moving books and erasing the blackboard without shirking them, and worked even faster than some of the boys, quickly becoming familiar with his new classmates.
With some time before lunch break, and after the big cleaning, unable to fully utilize the advantages of electronic devices, a few boys and girls gathered around the empty desks and casually played some tabletop games.
"Idiot, Li Mingyuan, you can't even understand this? I'll explain the rules one last time."
The cheerful voice rang out loudly in the classroom. The girl who spoke had a high ponytail, a slender figure, and wore a school uniform with color-blocked wide-leg pants, giving her a casual and relaxed look.
“Spin the pen around once, and whoever it lands on will be the next ‘target’.” She flicked Li Mingyuan’s head, casually pressed the spring of the ballpoint pen, and spun it around on the table. “The other participants have to say exactly four words to the ‘target’, no more, no less. Do you understand now?”
Li Mingyuan scratched his head, his hair standing on end slightly: "Oh dear, I already knew that a long time ago, stop nagging."
Ning Jiu glanced in the direction of the people at that table and quickly remembered that she was the girl who had been moving books with her, named Gao Hexin.
Just as she was about to look away, Gao Hexin turned around, and their eyes met.
As their eyes met, she flashed Ning Jiu a warm yet dangerous smile.
"New classmate, let's play together!"
At first, no one played seriously; they were just talking about which window to go to for rice later.
As the pen slowly moved to Li Mingyuan's position, Gao Hexin blurted out with a grin, "Yunhe's simp," and Li Mingyuan broke down—
"Gao Hexin!!! I'll be a real dog if I don't get this from you!"
Utter chaos ensued.
Li Mingyuan spun the pen with great force this time, and it took about twenty or thirty rotations before it showed any signs of slowing down.
Ring ring ring.
The classic Westminster chimes of lunch break mingled with the rustling of a pen, and the moment the door opened, the pen tip pierced through the surrounding gaps, pointing directly at the bright white light at the doorway.
The weather was 40 degrees Celsius, the hottest part of the day, and even the wind felt restless.
With a straight back, broad shoulders, and a height that surpasses others, even the same school uniform looks brighter and more spacious on him.
His nose was straight and prominent, his eyebrows and eyes had neat and well-defined lines, his thick eyelashes drooped down to the edge of his eyelids, and his pupils faintly shimmered with the light of scattered gold.
He didn't have the acne that other boys his age had, nor did he have a habitual hunchback or thick glasses.
His facial features give a bright and calm impression, but his overall temperament is like a babbling mountain stream leaping through the valley, a waterfall cascading into the forest, full of vigorous and clear vitality.
The ringing stopped, and the surroundings fell silent. Ning Jiu was the first to withdraw her gaze from her "target."
Almost instantly, the perfect words for him came to mind.
I want to fuck/cry him.

The High School League is usually held in September, but the timeline in this article is set earlier, at the end of August, so let's just consider it a fictional event; the Jiangcheng accent leans towards the Jiangnan region.
