After reading today's comments, let me explain
Some of the comments today were quite harsh. Well, the main problem was that they thought the protagonist's fighting power was suppressed.
What I must point out is that there is no such thing as suppressing the protagonist's combat power. Compared to golden dragons of the same age, the protagonist is only stronger, not weaker, and can beat up young dragons of any age.
This is the challenge level for gold dragons: wyrmling 5; young dragon 7; juvenile 9; teen 11; young adult 14; adult 16; mature 19; old 21; very old 22; ancient 24; great wyrm 25; great wyrm 27
The realms I set are: Bronze Enlightenment (1-5), Silver Soul Enlightenment (6-10), Gold Radiance (11-15), Ultimate Intention (16-20), Legend (21-30)
It would take at least fifty years for a normal golden dragon to have the protagonist's current combat power. The protagonist is currently less than thirty years old, and if he wants to have legendary combat power, it will take four hundred years.
Of course, some people will say that although the protagonist is a dragon, it should be different and should have a buff like super-speed growth. Unfortunately, I will never give the protagonist super-speed growth, because in my eyes, it is a debuff, not only for the protagonist, but also for the book.
The reason why people feel that the protagonist's combat power is suppressed, I guess, is that in almost 99% of the dragon stories on Qidian and even other external sites, the protagonists have super-fast growth or similar buffs. As the protagonist of the immortal species, they will reach the top of the world just like the short-lived species, or even faster than the short-lived species.
Many people are used to it, and think that this is the standard configuration for Longwen’s protagonist. Unfortunately, I won’t give it to Noah. I want to do something different, something unique.
The reason is very simple. I want to write a long story. I don't want it to end with a million words. I want to write a long story of three million words or even longer.
Giving the protagonist super-accelerated growth is equivalent to giving the book a super-accelerated completion, or a super-accelerated bad ending. After the protagonist's combat power reaches the world's peak, there is nothing to watch. From then on, it is just stacking boxes and playing with concepts. This is extremely boring. It is boring for the author and it is boring for the readers to read.
The truly exciting parts of a novel are the protagonist's struggles during his obscure years, his rise through hardship, and his explosion during his growth period. Once he reaches his peak, it becomes boring after a few pretentious chapters.
Therefore, the author will change the map, and the protagonists of old online novels will even ascend continuously. There are even novels in which the protagonist ascends more than ten times in a row. There is really nothing that can be done about it.
In my opinion, the drawback of Dragon Script now lies in this. The protagonist of Dragon Script grows too fast. There is almost no micro-end stage, the growth period is too short, and the peak period, after pretending for a while, is boring and dull.
Therefore, almost all dragon novels end up with hundreds of thousands of words or a million words unfinished. The most famous ones all suffer the same fate.
This is both an inherent flaw in the subject matter and a problem with the setting.
Some people may say that it is possible to write during the peak period, it just depends on the author’s writing skills.
Indeed, you can write
However, a great guy whom I respect, Yintian Shenyin, has already given an answer by writing in great detail about the protagonist at his peak.
In the two books, Soul of Burning Steel and Monster Killer, after the protagonist reaches the top of the world, he keeps stacking boxes and playing with concepts. The writing is very excellent. I have not seen better ones so far.
Unfortunately, I couldn't catch up. I subscribed to it, but I don't want to watch it at all. Cloudy Day should have noticed this problem.
Therefore, in the third book, Above the Sky, the upper limit of the protagonist was cut a lot, and it did not reach the level of the protagonists in the first two books. Now the fourth book, Destiny, should be the same. The protagonist will not stack boxes anymore in the later stage.
The boss has demonstrated it himself, and as his fanboy, I naturally wouldn't be ungrateful.
Therefore, the protagonist of this book will be a truly immortal species that needs hundreds or even thousands of years to grow, rather than a short-lived dragon that reaches its peak in a few decades and is then killed by the author helplessly.
This is the solution I came up with to solve the defects of the Dragon Text theme. Writing the protagonist as a long-lived species rather than a short-lived species can extend the life of the novel to a certain extent.
It is not enough to change the setting, the story and plot also need to be changed. Otherwise, if the protagonist sleeps for a hundred years or a thousand years, then what is the story, what is there to watch, and what kind of novel is this?
So, I joined the family of short-lived species. Only the short-lived species with a lifespan of a hundred years can set off the eternity of the long-lived species (I think I have spoiled something, hahahaha)
Let me be frank. Some readers said that the protagonist will be suppressed for a thousand years. This is impossible. Even if a supporting character who can suppress the protagonist appears, he will either disappear or be killed by the plot. Anyway, he will not be able to stay for long.
I will never let the protagonist suffer.
Actually, instead of complaining that I suppress the protagonist's combat power, it is better to say that the protagonist's adoptive father's Titan aura is too strong. The original challenge level of the Titan Elder in DND is only 27, the same as the ancient golden dragon.
The setting of the Titans in my book is based on that of a friend's book, so it's a bit out of the standard. After all, it's the book my friend is most proud of, and I don't want to ruin the setting.
Therefore, Cassius's template is beyond the scope. This is actually due to the protagonist's influence. If he were not the protagonist's adoptive father, I would never give him Titan bloodline.
The same goes for Serena. Without the halo of being the protagonist's adoptive mother, I would never have given her such a magical talent.
The reason why this couple is so extraordinary is to maintain the protagonist's status. After all, they are the protagonist's adoptive father and mother and cannot lose face. Moreover, they are also the first generation of glorious pioneers of the short-lived family that is used to contrast the protagonist's longevity.
At this point, we can basically summarize it. This book still revolves around the dragon, but it also incorporates two major themes of the fairy tale genre. One of them, in fact, has been joked about by someone: a dragon is passed down through three generations, the dragon remains even though the man is gone.
Family literature, and longevity literature
This is the method I figured out to break the Dragon Curse!
