Chapter 23 White Pigeon Light and Shadow
Ren Yizi gave a general idea, but a smart man like Wen Siru could already hear the cause and effect of the matter from his few words.
The two of them sat by the water. After Ren Yizi finished speaking, he dived into the warm water and swam for a long time before coming out, as if he wanted to briefly forget the painful memories in happiness.
As soon as he came out of the water, there was a splash.
The pearl-like dazzling water flowed from his neck and shoulders to the sexy depression of his collarbone.
Wen Siru's gaze stayed on the other person, and then moved his gaze downwards, he saw the golden white jade Buddha strung with a red rope under the collarbone.
Ren Yizi thought he wanted to take a closer look at the white jade Buddha, so he swam over to Wen Siru and raised his head, offering him the white jade Buddha on his chest as if offering a treasure: "Let me show you this heirloom of mine. Few people know about it. Even Qin Yang has never seen it."
The shimmering water reflected on Ren Yizi's face, making his eyebrows and eyes appear more vivid, and his lips, which were wet with water, opened and closed, which was very tempting.
"It's my pleasure." Wen Si Ru lowered his eyes with a smile and took the white jade Buddha.
The white porcelain-like hand was comparable to the cold white color of the white jade Buddha.
This white jade Buddha is warm and smooth, with clear lines, which matches Wen Siru's temperament very well.
Ren Yizi looked at Wen Siru's hand and quickly noticed the old scars on his arm. After thinking for a while, he asked, "What happened here?"
Wen Siru didn't hide it this time and said lightly, "I strangled myself when I was kidnapped as a child."
This sentence was like a bolt from the blue, shocking Ren Yizi so much that he couldn't speak for a long time. He thought that the kidnapping and extortion of children by wealthy families only happened in TV dramas and novels, but he didn't expect that such a thing would really happen to the young Wen Si Ru.
He slowed down before saying, "Then how did you come back?"
"Escaped from death." Wen Siru looked indifferent, as if he was talking about someone else's affairs calmly.
Ren Yizi had never seen him show such an expression before, and he didn't dare to ask further questions, for fear of causing him secondary harm and stress.
At the same time, he also felt that after revealing his own things today, he felt much more at ease, and the distance between him and Wen Si Ru became closer.
It's the kind of relationship that's like the three sworn brothers in Peach Garden. I just don't know what Qin Yang thinks of Wen Si Ru. If there's a chance, the three of them can really pay their respects to each other.
"Let's not talk about those trivial things. Do you want some strawberries?" Wen Siru carefully returned the white jade Buddha to Ren Yizi and took the strawberries that the housekeeper brought. "If you like them, eat more."
Ren Yizi was almost tongue-tied: "How do you know I like strawberries?"
"Last time we went to the bakery to buy something, you looked at that strawberry cake thirty-six times."
"You observe so carefully!" Ren Yizi laughed awkwardly and opened his mouth to eat the strawberry handed to him by Wen Siru.
Ren Yizi really likes to eat this kind of fruit, but only his grandmother knows it. He never expected that Wen Siru has such strong observation skills and is much more careful than a straight man like Ren.
Ren Yizi was also very moved. The sweet and refreshing strawberry flavor filled his taste buds, making his mouth and heart sweet.
He was so happy that he ate several strawberries in a row, then he paddled the pool water towards Wen Siru and said, "Why are you sitting on the shore? Why don't you come down and play?"
Wen Siru smiled and jumped into the water nimbly, and started playing water fight with him without saying a word.
The waves created by the two of them were more powerful than the other, and the sound of water mixed with laughter echoed in the huge swimming room.
Ren Yizi saw that Wen Si Ru had amazing physical strength, and felt that after so many years of water fights, he finally met an opponent of equal strength.
He used a dirty trick and tripped Wen Si Ru's legs under the water with his foot.
Wen Siru lunged forward and plunged into the water. Without having time to put on his swimming goggles, he closed his eyes and grabbed a piece of cloth in the water, then started to exert force.
Ren Yizi's veins jumped, and he pulled at his swimming trunks in fear: "I don't want to play anymore, let go, you're about to pull my pants off."
Wen Siru seemed to hear Ren Yizi's desperate screams in the water, and then he pushed himself up with his hands, grabbed Ren Yizi's slender waist, and got out of the water. He looked apologetic and said, "I'm sorry, brother, I'm not a good swimmer and I get easily panicked in the water.
"It's okay, you just scared me a little." Ren Yizi said, but his ears were covered with a layer of crimson.
"That's good," Wen Siru said. He stared at Ren Yizi and asked with concern, "What's wrong with you? Is the water temperature too high? Should I ask Uncle Lin to adjust it?"
Ren Yizi's Adam's apple slid down his spine: "No need, my face is like this after playing around for too long."
"Are you really okay?"
"Yeah. It's okay." Ren Yizi went to the shore to get some strawberries for Wen Siru, "Eat something."
-
The Wen family is wealthy and powerful, and they go to the temple every year to burn incense and pray for blessings. This year, Wen Zongyuan took a group of people to the temple in Yanjing and asked Wen Siru to represent the Wen family to go to the temple in Pengcheng to burn incense.
Although Ren Yizi carried a white jade Buddha with him, as an atheist, he didn't really believe in these things. But if he were to go out with Wen Si Ru, he would be very willing to do so and just treat it as going out for fun.
On the second day of National Day, they came to the largest temple in Shenzhen.
Countless tourists and pilgrims took advantage of the holiday to come here to burn incense. The temple was bustling with people. A huge tree stood in the center, with countless red silk ribbons with gold characters hanging on it, fluttering in the wind.
Ren Yizi and Wen Siru walked along the stone road. Their extremely pleasing looks attracted countless glances. Girls would secretly talk about them from time to time, and some brave ones would even encourage each other to ask for their WeChat accounts.
Ren Yizi's temperament is too unapproachable, and the chance of Wen Siru being asked for WeChat is much higher than Ren Yizi. He just rejected those girls with a smile, spoke slowly and without offending anyone, which made people feel good about him.
Soon, the abbot came with a group of monks to entertain them.
The abbot acted as if he was very familiar with Wen Siru and said several times: "Amitabha, we are honored to have such a distinguished guest. I am sorry for not welcoming you. Mr. Wen, please come in."
He looked at Ren Yizi who was standing next to Wen Siru very politely and said, "Donor, please come in too."
Ren Yizi knew that Wen Siru would definitely have something private to say to the abbot, such as how much Yuanzi would donate to the incense offerings. He said to Wen Siru, "I won't go in with you. I'll just hang out here. When you're done, send me a message on WeChat."
Wen Siru: "Alright, do you want a few masters to go with you?"
Ren Yizi turned around and waved his hand in a very casual manner: "No need to trouble the masters."
He first came to the temple for seeking wealth. Even though he was an atheist, since he was there, he still bowed and asked for a fortune for good luck. When the master interpreted the fortune, he talked to him about a lot of profound things. He didn't understand much, but he could tell that he would be a millionaire in the future. He was so happy that his eyes were about to burst into tears.
He then went to the nearby Marriage Hall to ask for divination, took a photo, and sent a flirtatious message to Chen Qingyi: "Let's see if we're destined to be together."
Chen Qingyi replied quickly, "You're in love, you believe everything."
Ren Yizi smiled at her message and took the fortune stick to ask his master for an explanation.
The master looked at his sign again and again and did not speak for a long time.
The air seemed to freeze.
Ren Yizi had a question mark on his face. He saw others asking the master, and the master was quick to interpret the fortune, but when it came to him, he was silent. His heart sank, and he took the initiative to ask: "Master, what does this fortune mean? Will I be single for the rest of my life?"
The master couldn't help but smile when he heard this. He quickly adjusted himself and said "Amitabha" before saying, "Your fortune... is very special. I've been here for so long, and this is the first time I've seen a fortune like yours."
"Master, please tell me, don't keep me in suspense."
"I only have eight words for you: close at hand, yet far away."
"What?" Ren Yizi thought he had misheard.
He felt that the master was deceiving him. Although his grades were not very good, he also knew that "close at hand" and "far away" were obviously two antonyms. How could they be put together at the same time? It was too ridiculous.
Ren Yizi asked, "Can you explain it in detail?"
The master just shook his head, lowered his eyes and looked at him with one hand raised: "Buddha said 'it cannot be said'."
Just then, Wen Si Ru sent him a message saying that he was out.
Ren Yizi walked away with a face full of question marks, wondering all the way what the deeper meaning of "so close yet so far away" was.
He felt a surge of anger stuck in his chest, unable to vent or swallow it. He thought that this kind of fortune-telling was just a scam, and silently vowed never to ask for fortunes again.
He came to the largest Buddhist temple, where Wen Siru was waiting for him, followed by the abbot and a group of monks. It seemed that the Wen family had a very high status here.
When Wen Siru saw him, he said, "The most important thing you can't miss when you come here is this temple. Let's go and worship together."
"Okay."
Wen Si Ru handed a thick incense stick to Ren Yizi.
The two of them knelt on the mat together.
Ren Yizi held the incense, closed his eyes and bowed devoutly.
There is a lot of noise from people and the sound of wooden fish.
Wen Siru tilted his head towards Ren Yizi, his eyes complex and deep.
The fragrance was like smoke, curling around Ren Yizi's face, appearing hazy, and the scent of sandalwood was exuding in every inch of the air.
Ren Yizi was still saying something like wishing his grandmother a long life and hoping he could get into university.
When they walked out of the Buddhist temple, Wen Siru smiled and said to him, "Don't tell others when you make a wish next time, or I'm afraid it won't come true."
"It's okay. I think it's better to speak it out. Everyone is saying it in their hearts, and I'm the loudest. Wouldn't Buddha be the first to notice me?"
"That's a very unique idea," Wen Siru said with a deeper smile, "I know of a faster and more effective method. Would you like to try it?"
"Okay." Ren Yizi believed in Wen Siru unconditionally.
Wen Siru told the monks not to follow them, and then took Ren Yizi to the back mountain.
Few people know about this place, and there are few tourists. Many white pigeons come here to feed.
Wen Si Ru walked into the flock of pigeons with a piece of bread. The pigeons flapped their white wings excitedly and flew up, calling around Wen Si Ru one by one.
"Look! Do it like me!" Wen Siru said to Ren Yizi, "White doves are a symbol of happiness and good fortune. You can speak your wishes out loud and tell them."
Ren Yizi was stunned.
All I saw was a group of white pigeons surrounding Wen Si Ru, and the sound of their flapping wings was like the music of nature.
Wen Siru was wearing a white shirt with buttons today, looking like a gentle and bright young man who had returned from studying abroad during the Republic of China period.
He stood in the center of that pure whiteness, as if at the center of the world. His brows held a glint of blue wind and azure moon, his eyes, looking back, shone with a thousand radiances by the blazing sun. The clear stream at his feet seemed to have suddenly become an ocean.
"What are you standing there for?" Wen Siru was puzzled.
