Chapter 143 Crayfish

An Qingbai didn't wait for Zhuang Zhimeng to ask him before he told her directly.

"It's a crayfish. There are crayfish in the river in the village. They probably don't live in the sea. Besides, nobody eats crayfish. They don't taste good!"

Zhuang Zhimeng was puzzled. What is a crayfish?

Suddenly, a new item appeared in her mental inventory: 200 jin (100 catties) of crayfish.

Zhuang Zhimeng excitedly hugged An Qingbai and kissed him on the cheek.

"Haha, Brother Qingbai, you're amazing! It was the right decision to have you fish here. I've been craving crayfish for so long, spicy, garlic, thirteen-spice—I can't even think about it, it makes my mouth water!"

An Qingbai held her, unable to understand for the first time why she was so happy.

"Zhizhi, is this the crayfish you were talking about? Is it really that delicious? I can't imagine!"

Zhuang Zhimeng told him smugly.

"You don't understand, do you? If it doesn't taste good, it's because you don't know how to cook it. What I make is absolutely delicious. You just said there are some in the river, right? Then what are we waiting for? Brother Qingbai, let's go fishing for crayfish. We can add some to the soup later. This time, I'm going to eat my fill!"

An Qingbai affectionately patted her head.

"Okay, let's go crayfish fishing, I'll let you eat your fill!"

Zhuang Zhimeng happily tilted her head back and kissed him on the lips again.

"Brother Qingbai, this is a reward for you!"

An Qingbai was about to kiss him back.

Zhuang Zhimeng smiled, took his hand, and left the warehouse.

Before he could even process what was happening and wanted to continue, Zhuang Zhimeng said something else.

"Let's go, Qingbai, let's go crayfish fishing!"

Then Zhuang Zhimeng laughed and ran out of the house with the bucket.

An Qingbai shook his head and smiled, realizing he'd been tricked again, and quickly chased after her.

When they arrived at the riverbank, Zhuang Zhimeng saw that the water was quite clear, so she scooped up a handful of water and felt it; the water had been heated by the sun.

Just then, An Qingbai came over. She chuckled to herself, drained most of the water from her hand, and splashed the rest of the water at An Qingbai.

An Qingbai had already noticed her little movement and dodged to the side to avoid it.

An Qingbai was about to retaliate when Zhuang Zhimeng spoke first. He had just squatted down when An Qingbai was about to retaliate.

"Brother Qingbai, where are the crayfish? Let's catch them quickly!"

An Qingbai's fingers had already touched the water's surface. Hearing her words, he straightened up and pointed in a direction for her.

"There they are over there! Let's go fishing over there."

Zhuang Zhimeng was about to head there when An Qingbai took advantage of her inattention and retaliated by flicking her a few times with water droplets from his fingertips.

Zhuang Zhimeng only missed getting water on her face the first time; she avoided the rest of the water droplets. She turned around and made a face at An Qingbai.

An Qingbai wasn't going to let her off the hook any longer. He quickly caught up with her and, taking advantage of the fact that no one was around by the river, quickly kissed her on the lips, letting her play her usual mischievous self.

Zhuang Zhimeng felt embarrassed in front of others and changed the subject.

"Brother Qingbai, hurry up, don't waste time!"

An Qingbai knew she was trying to change the subject, but still went along with it and agreed.

"Good! It's not far ahead!"

The two walked over quickly.

Zhuang Zhimeng saw the crayfish and excitedly patted An Qingbai's arm.

"Brother Qingbai, crayfish! It really is a crayfish, what do we use to catch it?"

An Qingbai thought back and realized that he had seen others use frogs to catch crayfish before.

"Let's use a frog, I see everyone else is using it! I'll go catch a frog."

He was about to make a move when Zhuang Zhimeng stopped him.

"I heard that meat works too, let's try it with meat! Let's not use frogs, that's a little cruel!"

An Qingbai felt that anything was fine, and if he didn't want to use a frog, then he wouldn't use it.

"Whatever you say, Zhizhi, bring out some meat!"

Zhuang Zhimeng took out a small piece of meat and a bamboo pole from the warehouse and handed them to him.

"Brother Qingbai, here you go."

An Qingbai took the meat and bamboo pole, pulled some grass from the side, tied the meat to the bamboo pole securely, and then stuck the end of the bamboo pole with the meat into the river, waiting for the crayfish to climb up and eat the meat.

Zhuang Zhimeng squatted down beside him, cupping her face in her hands, watching him operate the device, and asked him questions out of curiosity.

"Brother Qingbai, how long do you usually need to fish for crayfish?"

An Qingbai turned around and explained to her.

"Soon, it won't be long!"

As they were talking, An Qingbai suddenly lifted the bamboo pole, which was already covered with several crayfish. Zhuang Zhimeng immediately stood up, took the bucket, and An Qingbai used the bamboo pole to shake the crayfish into the bucket.

Good haul, I estimate there are about a dozen crayfish this time.

Zhuang Zhimeng was itching to try it; she thought catching crayfish was quite fun.

"Brother Qingbai, I want to try fishing for crayfish."

An Qingbai did not object and handed her the bamboo pole in his hand.

"Here you go, Zhizhi. Just hold onto the bamboo pole and stay still. You'll feel the crayfish crawling up!"

Zhuang Zhimeng took the bamboo pole.

"Okay, I'll give it a try!"

Zhuang Zhimeng gripped the bamboo pole and dared not move as he instructed. After feeling around and finding no movement, she was about to speak when she suddenly felt something pulling at her flesh on the bamboo pole. She quickly lifted the bamboo pole and looked happily at An Qingbai.

"Haha, Brother Qingbai, I caught one too!"

An Qingbai smiled and nodded.

"I see, catching crayfish is so easy!"

He watched her intently as she lifted the bamboo pole, then moved the bucket over and placed it back in its place.

Zhuang Zhimeng followed An Qingbai's movements, using a bamboo pole to shake the crayfish into the bucket.

She also caught more than a dozen crayfish.

Zhuang Zhimeng wants to continue fishing for crayfish; she's become addicted to it.

"Brother Qingbai, I want to fish some more!"

An Qingbai looked at her with a smile.

"Alright, you can fish the rest until you don't want to anymore!"
