Yangyang turned around before daring to pout, inwardly scoffing.
Hmph! You stinky third uncle, if you think I'm in the way, just say so. You told me to go play over there. What's there to play with in this sweltering heat?
After Yangyang left, Zhuang Zhimeng smiled and looked at An Qingbai.
"Brother Qingbai, what's got you so excited? What did you want to tell me after you sent Yangyang away?"
An Qingbai excitedly told Zhuang Zhimeng.
"Zhizhi, my family's political background is finally over! I no longer have to worry that my family's political background will have a negative impact on you!"
Zhuang Zhimeng was also very happy.
"Really? That's wonderful! I'm not worried about any repercussions, I just don't want anyone to look at you differently!"
The two looked at each other, their pupils reflecting each other's smiles.
An Qingbai also told her.
"Zhizhi, you can't believe it, can you? Wearing this hat means we can't leave our hometown, and we don't even have the chance to ride a train!"
Zhuang Zhimeng comforted him.
"Isn't it great now? We can take any mode of transportation from now on!"
An Qingbai nodded, "That's right."
Suddenly, an idea popped into Zhuang Zhimeng's head.
"Brother Qingbai, since you've never ridden a train before, how about we hold our wedding in Beijing? Or how about having two weddings?"
An Qingbai thought about it and decided it was feasible.
"I have no objection, but it mainly depends on what my parents think. I'd really like to see where Zhizhi has lived since she was little!"
Zhuang Zhimeng plans to ask both sets of parents later.
"Or maybe I can take leave to visit my family during the Chinese New Year, and we can celebrate at my home. We can then have the wedding on the day we get our marriage certificate after we come back! What do you think, Qingbai?"
An Qingbai did not quite agree.
"If we have the wedding on the day we get our marriage certificate, my aunt and uncle won't be able to come! And it won't be easy for them to take time off then, will it?"
Zhuang Zhimeng thought about it and agreed that it was indeed not appropriate.
"Let's discuss it with them first. At least now we have more options, unlike before when we could only come from Beijing!"
"Hmm, let's talk to them about it when we have the chance, and then we'll decide where to hold it!"
When An Qingbai returned home, his uncle and aunt had already gone back.
Shi Meiling saw him and quickly pulled him aside to ask.
"Third brother, did you come back before? I think I saw you come back!"
An Qingbai nodded with a smile.
"Mom, it's me back! I heard what Uncle Baogen said, and I'm telling Zhizhi the news!"
Shi Meiling strongly agreed.
"Then you did the right thing. Zhimeng should know that, whether it's good or bad, you shouldn't hide it from her!"
An Qingbai smiled and said.
"I see!"
Shi Meiling looked at An Qingbai and suddenly slapped her forehead.
“I knew I’d forgotten something! Your second brother sent Wu Pandi back to her parents’ home, and I forgot to ask her family how they reacted. I’ll go ask them!”
After saying that, he rushed off to find An Qingsong.
An Qingbai watched his mother leave without looking back, shook his head, went to the storage room to find tools, and went to repair the tractor.
Inside An Qingsong's room.
He was pondering when to tell his mother when he heard Shi Meiling's voice.
"Second brother, are you inside?"
An Qingsong quickly responded.
"Mother, I'm here!"
Shi Meiling went inside after hearing his response and asked him directly.
"You sent Wu Pandi back to her parents' home today. Did her family give you any trouble?"
An Qingsong shook his head.
"No, I just dropped her off and left. I also told her that I don't plan to stay with Wu Pandi anymore! I'll get a divorce in a while!"
Shi Meiling nodded, relieved that she hadn't been made to suffer.
"Fine, if you've thought it through, then go ahead and do it. I support your divorce!"
An Qingsong hesitated, wondering whether he should tell his mother about Yuelan, and stammered.
Shi Meiling patted him on the shoulder.
"Just say what you want to say, don't make me guess!"
He planned to tell his mother the truth.
"Mother, Wu Pandi lied to me. Yuelan didn't look down on our family background. She didn't know that something bad had happened to our family. She was waiting for me to find a husband for her all those years ago!"
Shi Meiling stared wide-eyed.
"So, Wu Pandi has taken a liking to you? That's why she deliberately spoke ill of Yuelan, just to get you to marry her?"
An Qingsong nodded helplessly.
"Sigh! That must be it. Who knew when Wu Pandi would target me? I wasn't on guard at all, and that's how I fell into her trap!"
Shi Meiling guessed.
"Second brother, do you think it might be Li Erniu who gave Wu Pandi this idea?"
"They must be after our family's wealth, thinking that even if we're cheated on, we'll still have money. So they had Wu Pandi scheme against you to make you marry her? Mainly for our money?"
An Qingsong dared not think about it.
"I don't know, I don't dare to think about it. Right now, I just want to get a divorce as soon as possible. I've already agreed with Yuelan that it will be at the latest within three months. I need to give Yuelan an explanation!"
Just as Shi Meiling was about to nod, she thought of another question and asked him.
"How much money has Wu Pandi taken from you to send back to her parents' home over the years?"
An Qingsong thought for a moment before answering.
"That's all. The 30 I was given when I got married, plus the money I got from work points, it adds up to about a hundred!"
Shi Meiling got angry just thinking about it and slapped him again.
"What were you thinking? Why did you give the money to Wu Pandi?"
An Qingsong told his mother, feeling wronged.
"I thought that since she's the mother of the children, our family is all handed over to her. My father and older brother did the same, so I did the same. But who would have thought that she would take everything back to her parents' home!"
Shi Meiling rolled her eyes at him.
"You're such a fool! You have to be careful who you hand over the money to. No matter how much money you have, it won't be enough for Wu Pandi to take back to her parents' home!"
