Chapter 229 Business Opportunities on the Train

"Sister-in-law, let Yangyang stay here. I'll take him back when we eat later."

"Alright, let Yangyang stay here with you then!"

Around noon, food carts started selling meals on the train.

An Qingbai bought four meals. He was lucky today; there were spare ribs. He ordered an extra portion of spare ribs. There weren't many pieces, so each person could only share a few pieces before it was gone.

They even let Yangyang eat two pieces of pork ribs before sending him back next door for lunch.

Shi Meiling was eating stir-fried green peppers and shredded pork with rice.

"Hmm, you know what, this food tastes pretty good, it's even better than the state-run restaurants."

An Tanxiao was biting into a rib.

"I don't think these ribs are good, they're too dry! The other dishes taste pretty good though."

Zhuang Zhimeng quietly placed the half-eaten rib into An Qingbai's lunchbox.

"Uncle is right, the ribs are too dry and they're easy to get stuck in your teeth."

An Qingbai looked at her with affection.

"Yes, it's too dry. Let's make the ribs ourselves another day!"

"Okay!"

Hua Qizhen also ate a boxed meal on the train, which consisted of scrambled eggs with tomatoes and rice.

She's already gotten to know Shi Meiling and her family of four well, so she spoke up directly.

"I could tell from the ribs that they were going to be cooked for firewood, so I didn't buy them."

Shi Meiling laughed.

"Hey, I just wanted to try it."

That evening, Zhuang Zhimeng brought flatbread and pickled vegetables to Qingbai.

She took out the salted egg yolk mooncakes made by her aunt, which Shi Meiling specially made for her family to take back.

Hua Qizhen looked on with envy, wanting to speak up several times but too embarrassed to do so.

Shi Meiling smiled and patted Zhuang Zhimeng sitting next to her.

"Zhimeng, break off a piece of mooncake for this auntie too. I never expected my mooncakes to be so popular!"

Zhuang Zhimeng immediately broke off half of it and handed it to Hua Qizhen.

Hua Qizhen smiled shyly, then took a bite, and immediately forgot everything else.

After finishing the mooncake, he wiped his hands with a handkerchief and then looked at Shi Meiling.

"Young lady, to tell you the truth, I'm the director of the purchasing department at the county supply and marketing cooperative. I'll order your mooncakes from you next year, how about it?"
