Zhuang Zhimeng watched as the boy threw himself into her arms and cried, and for a moment she forgot to react.
An Qingbai and Zhuang Zhijun simultaneously reached out and pulled the person away.
"Who are you to dare hug my wife?"
"Where did this brat come from? How dare you hug my sister?"
Zhuang Zhimeng looked at the boy with surprise.
"Jiujiu, why are you back? Did your uncle, grandpa, and grandma come back too?"
Hao Jiuhe, feeling embarrassed, threw herself back into her cousin's arms.
"I...I came back on my own. I didn't want to stay abroad anymore. I found it particularly boring."
We've all heard that the country is safe now, and I couldn't wait any longer. I'm currently an exchange student at Peking University.
I was too young when I left, and I don't remember where my aunt lived. My dad told me, but I didn't remember either.
An Qingbai and Zhuang Zhijun were both dumbfounded.
"Wife, what is this...?"
"Sister, is he Uncle's child? How come I don't know him?"
Zhuang Zhimeng smiled and patted her cousin.
"Alright, Jiu Jiu, you're such a big girl now, you can't keep hugging me like you did when you were little."
Hao Jiuhe chuckled and released his cousin.
Zhuang Zhimeng introduced herself to the others.
"Jiujiu is my uncle's youngest child. She was only three years old when he passed away. She was always very attached to me since she was little."
She's eighteen now, a year younger than Junjun, and the youngest in the family.
He and my aunt went abroad first, and my maternal grandparents and uncle's family went three years later, so Junjun doesn't remember Jiujiu.
Zhuang Zhimeng introduced everyone to her cousin.
Hao Jiuhe called everyone over.
"Brother-in-law, you've really hit the jackpot by marrying my cousin."
You have to be really, really good to her.
An Qingbai calmed down and smiled as he made a promise.
"Don't worry about that, I'll treat my wife with my life."
Zhuang Zhijun put his arm around his cousin's neck.
"I'll protect you from now on. We'll be in the same school, so if you need anything, just come to your cousin."
"Okay, Cousin Junjun."
Zhuang Zhimeng looked at her cousin.
"Jiujiu, where are you living now?"
"I have been living at the school since I returned to China."
Who is this?
Hao Jiuhe pulled the girl next to him into his arms.
"This is my girlfriend, her name is Lucy, and her Chinese name is Zeng Anni."
Zeng Anni greeted the group with a smile.
"I am Annie Zeng, William's girlfriend."
Oh, William is Jiu Jiu, I like to call him by his English name, William.
Zhuang Zhimeng clenched her fist, coughed lightly, and reminded him.
"Jiujiu, you should also be careful. China is not very open about men and women. Are you really not afraid of getting arrested on the street?"
Hao Jiuhe quickly let go of his hand.
"Hehe, cousin, I'm used to it, I'm used to it."
"Now that I've run into you, I should at least visit your home."
"This is necessary."
Hao Jiuhe whispered something in Zeng Anni's ear, and Zeng Anni took her leave.
"Hey, Jiu Jiu, why don't you say you're going to bring your girlfriend home to meet my mom?"
"Well, actually, this Lucy was sent by my mom to keep an eye on me, in case I'm left unattended after I return to China."
She was quite good-looking, so I accepted her.
But I always felt something was missing, and I didn't want to tell my aunt.
"Could it be that Lucy still has control of your money?"
"That's how it is. I have to get Lucy's permission to spend any money."
Zhuang Zhimeng patted her cousin on the shoulder again.
"I really feel sorry for you; you don't even have financial freedom."
Hao Jiuhe sighed.
"It's not just me who doesn't have it."
My eldest brother, second brother, third sister, and fourth brother all have none, and my father has never had much money.
Is my aunt still very domineering?
"Yes, my mom is definitely the strong woman type. We were able to establish ourselves abroad thanks to her."
"How are they all doing?"
"They're doing alright, I guess. They're busy making money every day. There are nine people in their family, and eight of them are working."
I was the only one with free time, and since I had the opportunity to return to China for an exchange program, I immediately signed up.
Do your uncles and aunts agree to your coming back?
"Hehe, they originally disagreed."
They all advised me to wait a few more years until it's safer before coming back.
I won't do it; I'll go on a hunger strike.
I really hadn't eaten for three days and almost died.
Seeing that I was still very determined, they agreed.
But the condition is that we must live together with Lucy, and Lucy will manage our living expenses.
"You're really something else. There are so many ways to do this, why do you have to go on a hunger strike?"
"Cousin, you have no idea."
"It's so difficult to communicate with my mom; I just can't get through to her no matter what I do."
"Haha, Auntie, it's not as exaggerated as you say."
Although she's quite assertive, she's actually quite nice to us younger generation.
“I guess she was probably in the middle of a business deal, and I gave her a hard time, which is why she treated me that way.”
"Hehe, I guess it's all your fault."
Su Mengmeng and her husband watched from the side.
Jiang Yanxia waited until they finished speaking before reminding them.
"Hey guys, can we stop chatting in front of that restaurant?"
Look, everyone's looking at us.
Zhuang Zhimeng and her cousin stuck out their tongues at the same time.
"Haha, we forgot about the occasion as soon as we met."
It's getting late, I should go home now.
Hao Jiuhe used his car key to unlock the car.
"Jiujiu, you still have a car?"
"This is a coming-of-age gift from my dad, and I take it with me wherever I go."
