Chapter 54 Treasure Hunt 2

They opened a crate on the ground; it was full of weapons. They opened another crate; it was full of ammunition.

They searched through several boxes before finding the gold bars. Several other boxes were filled with rare antiques and valuable calligraphy and paintings. A few more boxes were full of jewelry, clearly very valuable pieces.

Zhuang Zhimeng was speechless as she looked at all the rare items that had been opened.

"What do we do now? Should we hand over these weapons and stuff? These people are really going too far. They took so much of our stuff and claim it as theirs. They're shameless. It's obvious that these are our country's things."

"Take a look around here and keep a few of the things you particularly like. We'll hand over the rest. This is no small matter. Just the discovery of these weapons and ammunition in our possession would be a major problem."

Zhuang Zhimeng had no objections, picked out a few particularly precious pieces from the jewelry, and then stopped.

“I called my grandfather and asked him to send troops to take over.”

"Okay! Let's move that rock to this area, and then we'll say we saw it and felt something was strange, so we dug it up to take a look."

The two put the boxes back in their original positions and returned the way they came.

He moved the stone over and filled the soil back in, then stomped on it.

After making sure everything was alright and completing their task of gathering pig feed for the day, the two of them went down the mountain.

An Qingbai accompanied Zhuang Zhimeng to the town post office to make a phone call to her grandfather's office.

After informing the operator of his identity, the old man answered the phone shortly afterward.

"Yaya, is that you? You brat, you've gone to the countryside and ignored your grandpa, you haven't even called me!"

"Grandpa, it's me! Didn't I write you a letter? I also asked my mom to send you the things I sent back. Did you receive them all?"

"Hmph! At least you have some conscience. What's the matter with calling Grandpa?"

When Zhuang Zhimeng explained the situation, Grandpa Zhuang also became serious.

"I'll send someone over to take over right away. You'll have done a great service, and I'll recommend you for commendation! Your second brother should be nearby; let him go and provide backup. You don't need to worry about him for now!"

"Okay, Grandpa, I understand!"

After finishing his business, the old man started thinking about Zhuang Zhimeng finding a partner.

"I heard you're dating someone? How's he? Is he good to you?"

"Grandpa, he's doing well, and he's good to me. He's with me now. Would you like to talk to him?"

"Then give him the phone!"

When An Qingbai saw Zhuang Zhimeng hand him the phone, he quickly took it. He didn't know what was being said on the phone, but it was very quiet and An Qingbai was making some kind of promise. He unconsciously straightened up.

After An Qingbai finished speaking, he handed the microphone back to Zhuang Zhimeng. Zhuang Zhimeng took it and heard the old man say, "He's a good person. I hope he can keep his word and bring him back to visit when he has the chance."

"Yes, Grandpa, I definitely will. I'll bring him back to see you when I have the chance!"

After hanging up the phone, the two of them strolled around the town.

Seeing the movie theater reminded An Qingbai that they hadn't actually gone on a date yet!

"Zhizhi, let's go see a movie! We've never had a proper date before!"

"Okay, shall we go see what movies are showing today?"

An Qingbai happened to see a popcorn stand and bought a handful, along with two bottles of soda.

Popcorn was quite plentiful back then, costing three cents. Orange soda was five cents a bottle, and you had to pay the vendor a one-cent deposit, returning the bottle after you finished drinking it.

Today they were showing "Railway Guerrillas," and An Qingbai bought two tickets. Each ticket cost 20 cents, so he spent 40 cents in total.

The movie theater was different from those of later generations; it was just a large room with several chairs and a huge projector in front.

An Qingbai found the last row and pulled Zhuang Zhimeng to sit down.

The movie theater was dark, and no one would notice if you held hands.

The movie started soon after. Zhuang Zhimeng had never seen Railway Guerrilla War in the 21st century. Although the screen quality wasn't great, she still watched it with great interest.

Seeing that she was engrossed in watching the movie, An Qingbai picked up some popcorn and fed it to her. After watching her eat it, he brought a soft drink to Zhuang Zhimeng's mouth.

Seeing that she had finished eating and drinking, An Qingbai leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Zhizhi, I also want you to feed me popcorn!"

Zhuang Zhimeng turned her head and glanced at him. Oh well, he's her boyfriend, so she has to spoil him.

She picked up a few and fed them to him. Just as her hand was about to leave An Qingbai's mouth, An Qingbai couldn't help but lick her finger.

"You...! Eat it yourself!" he said, shoving the popcorn into An Qingbai's hand.

"Don't be angry, baby, I'll feed you!" An Qingbai quickly comforted him.
