Chapter 235 Going to see the courtyard house

"Okay, if it doesn't snow tomorrow, let's go take a look."

I looked at the Beijing map my second uncle gave me, and the address Grandpa Shang gave me and my teacher's wife gave me weren't very far apart!

"That's right! Brother Qingbai, I hadn't thought of it until you mentioned it."

"Tomorrow we'll go see Grandpa Shang's house first, and then we'll make a detailed plan to dig up Master's treasure."

"Okay, let's arrange it this way!"

The snow stopped after a day, which made it easier for Zhuang Zhimeng and An Qingbai to move around.

An Qingbai rode his bicycle to the steel factory's residential compound.

Inside the room, Zhuang Zhimeng was explaining things to Zhuang Zhijun.

"Jun Jun, your brother-in-law and I are going out in a little while. You'll stay home by yourself!"

"Okay, sis, you guys go ahead!"

I'm used to it. I've been staying at home for quite a while now, and my neighbors still talk to me sarcastically every day!

If I weren't the only child left in our family, I might have ended up in the countryside like you, sister!

Zhuang Zhimeng walked over to her younger brother and ruffled his hair.

"It's okay. You can go to the school when you have time. Don't pay attention to what others say. Just focus on your own studies."

"Yes, I know."

Just then, An Qingbai knocked on the door. Zhuang Zhimeng slung her bag over her shoulder and gave Junjun some instructions.

"Alright, your brother-in-law and I are leaving now. We might not be back for lunch. Why don't you go to the factory and have lunch with Dad?"

Zhuang Zhijun waved his hand.

"Sis, don't worry about me. I'm going to Mom's for dinner in a bit."

"Alright, I'll be going then!"

"Go ahead, go ahead, your brother-in-law must be getting impatient."

Zhuang Zhimeng glared at her younger brother with a smile before opening the door.

"Brother Qingbai, let's go!"

"good!"

An Qingbai rode with Zhuang Zhimeng all the way to a certain alley, where Zhuang Zhimeng carefully searched for house numbers on the back seat.

The two finally found the address they were looking for at the very end of the alley.

Zhuang Zhimeng got off her bicycle, took out her keys from her bag, and opened the door.

An Qingbai pushed his bicycle inside, and Zhuang Zhimeng closed the gate.

"Zhizhi, this house looks pretty good, it's not dilapidated!"

"Yes, we can move in after some renovations."

Brother Qingbai, what do you think about us living here from now on?

I don't know why Grandpa Shang's house wasn't requisitioned by the government.

My maternal grandfather also owned a courtyard house; he only managed to save it by donating most of his family fortune.

An Qingbai parked his bicycle and took his fiancée's hand as they strolled around the large, three-courtyard house.

"Does Zhizhi want to live here?"

"Yes, I really like courtyard houses!"

Look how big this house is, how many rooms it has, and how quiet it is.

I just checked and there aren't many neighbors around yet; this courtyard house is located at the very back.

"Okay, I understand. If we have the chance to live in Beijing, we'll stay here!"

"Hehe, Qingbai, you're spoiling me so much! Don't you want to stay here yourself?"

An Qingbai took Zhuang Zhimeng's hand and kissed it lightly.

"Of course, I'll live wherever you want, Zhizhi!"

Zhuang Zhimeng smiled sweetly.

"So, what do you think about us bringing my grandparents, Grandpa Shang, our parents, and maybe even our two masters to live with us? Would you be willing?"

An Qingbai looked at his fiancée with affection.

"I have no objection, but the elderly may not be willing!"

"Haha, Brother Qingbai, I was just asking you."

I don't think they'll necessarily be willing; we'll see how things go then! Living in Beijing is still a long way off!

"Well, if we really come to live in Beijing, we'll discuss who will live with us then."

No wonder I knew you liked courtyard houses. This house is more and more pleasing to the eye the more you look at it. I never imagined that courtyard houses in Beijing would look like this.

"Yes! That's it! It has a culturally rich feel, and its square shape makes it pleasing to the eye. Plus, the courtyard is huge!"

By the way, Qingbai, what kind of house does Second Uncle live in? I always thought he lived in a courtyard house too!

An Qingbai thought about it for a moment.

"My second uncle's house should be a Western-style building! It seems to have three floors."

"Wow! I know where it is. The people living in those Western-style buildings are all rich."

Zhuang Zhimeng nudged her fiancé with her elbow.

"Brother Qingbai, is Uncle's house particularly magnificent?"

"It's alright! It's just quite big, with more than twenty rooms. My second uncle's family also has servants."

"Did you see your second aunt?"

An Qingbai shook his head.

"I'll tell you a secret! It seems my second aunt has passed away."

There aren't even any photos at home; my second uncle only told my dad. I'm just guessing.

Zhuang Zhimeng became curious.

"Then why did you guess that?"

"Because I saw my dad pat my second uncle on the shoulder and comfort him that there would be other opportunities."

"Well, it's a good thing you told me, otherwise it would have been awkward if we hadn't been careful and asked."

As Zhuang Zhimeng spoke, she took An Qingbai's hand and continued strolling through the courtyard.

"This house is so big! I love houses like this. Living here would be wonderful!"

An Qingbai looked at his fiancée with doting eyes, and was about to respond to her when suddenly there was some movement outside the door.

Zhuang Zhimeng and An Qingbai exchanged a glance, and Zhuang Zhimeng reacted quickly by pulling An Qingbai's hand and entering the warehouse.

"Are you sure no one's home here? This place can't be open to the public!"

"Don't worry! I've already investigated. The owner of this house hasn't shown up for over a year. He's either dead or captured."
