Chapter 280 The Family Returns to the Village

“They’ve been trafficking a lot of women and children lately, and you’ve really helped us a lot.”

We have reported to our superiors, and they will be arrested as soon as the train arrives at the station.

We must strive to rescue the women and children as soon as possible.

We've decided to waive your train ticket fee this time. Here's the ticket money; please keep it safe.

If you need anything, please feel free to ask our train staff.

Zhuang Zhimeng smiled and accepted the money.

"Okay, we'll come to you again if we need anything."

Zhuang Zhimeng only smiled after the train conductor left.

"Hehe, this is my first time riding a free train!"

Shi Meiling echoed her daughter-in-law.

"How great, a free train ride, maybe Zhimeng won't even need to pay for meals anymore."

"Haha, Mother, wouldn't that seem too greedy?"

"Really? I think it's okay."

An Qingbai shook his head and smiled.

"It's unlikely that they'll waive the meal expenses; waiving the train ticket would already be setting a precedent."

And this is a sleeper berth, which is much more expensive than a hard seat ticket.

"Hmm, I think Aber's analysis makes sense. It's good enough that the ticket is waived."

Shi Meiling thought about it and agreed.

"It's okay if we don't have to pay for meals, we won't lose out either way."

Zhuang Zhimeng nodded.

Nobody thought about it anymore.

Zhuang Zhimeng put the money away and climbed up to the top bunk to lie down.

I was going to take a short nap, and when I opened my eyes again it was already lunchtime.

Zhuang Zhimeng sat up and stretched.

"I actually fell asleep and dreamed that we were eating stir-fried beef."

An Qingbai looked at his wife with affection, just about to respond.

Just then, the train attendant pushed the dining cart over to sell lunch.

An Qingbai ordered six meals and was about to pay when the train attendant handed him another lunchbox.

"This dish is free for your loved one; you'll only be charged half the price for the meal."

An Qingbai took back half of the money and handed it to the train conductor.

Thank you.

The train conductor responded with a smile.

"We should be thanking you. Have a nice lunch. I'm going to the next carriage now."

"good."

Zhuang Zhimeng climbed down from the top bunk.

"Hey, look at that lunchbox, it can't really be stir-fried beef, can it?"

An Qingbai first handed the lunchboxes to his family members, then took his wife's hand and sat down on his mother's bed.

"Let me see."

He then opened his lunchbox.

"Haha, it really is! I was wondering why I dreamt about stir-fried beef."

Shi Meiling also curiously peeked over to take a look.

Zhuang Zhimeng used chopsticks to pick up some food and put it into her mother-in-law's lunchbox.

"Mom, let's eat together."

"Okay, let's benefit from Zhimeng's influence too."

"I guess this was made especially for you, Zhimeng. This stir-fried beef isn't even sold in lunchboxes."

Zhuang Zhimeng smiled and directed the men.

“Abo, take this and give some to Dad and Qinglin Yangyang as well.”

"Okay, I'll listen to my wife and eat my fill."

The family enjoyed a pleasant and satisfying lunch.

The train stopped at the next station.

Shi Meiling looked out the window.

"I wonder how many accomplices that kidnapper had? Will they all be caught?"

"Mother, don't worry, no matter how many accomplices there are, they will all be caught."

Zhuang Zhimeng is absolutely right.

There were ten human traffickers on this train, all of them members of the same organization.

The old woman who tried to abduct Zhuang Zhimeng happened to be the leader of the organization, and now she's been caught in the act.

Nothing else happened along the way, and we arrived safely in Liaoning Province.

Zhuang Zhimeng called her parents and grandparents.

After hanging up the phone, Zhuang Zhimeng told her family.

"My grandpa asked Uncle Qin to pick us up again. Let's go eat first. Uncle Qin won't be here for a while."

Shi Meiling nodded.

"Let's each go and have a bowl of wontons, it'll save us trouble and we won't keep them waiting."

The whole family agreed and walked together to the state-run restaurant next to the train station, where each person ate a bowl of wontons.

Just as I finished eating and came out, Qin Jiandang arrived and leaned out of the car to look for me.

An Qingbai saw it first and tugged at his wife's sleeve.

"Wife, over there, Uncle Qin is over there."

Zhuang Zhimeng saw it by following her lover's hand and called out.

"Uncle Qin."

Qin Jiandang drove the car over.

"Zhimeng, have you all eaten?"

"Have you eaten, Uncle Qin? How about I treat you to a bowl of wontons before we go?"

Qin Jiandang waved his hand.

“I ate before I came over. I was almost finished eating when your grandfather called me.”

"You all get on the bus."

"Uncle Qin, I feel bad for troubling you so much."

"Hehe, don't be so polite with your Uncle Qin. You and Qingbai can treat me to dinner another day."

"Okay, no problem. Just wait for me to call you."

"Okay, Uncle Qin will be waiting."

Zhuang Zhimeng then called her family to get in the car.

Shi Meiling suddenly sighed after sitting down.

"It feels like I haven't been back for ages since I went out."

An Tanxiao nodded.

"I feel the same way."

An Qinghua suddenly reminded him.

"I have to go to work tomorrow."

Shi Meiling turned around and glared at her eldest son.

"I rarely have a moment to express my feelings, but you just have to remind me, right, boss?"

"I...hehe, I just said it offhand."

An Tanxiao also turned around and glared at his eldest son.

"You talk too much nonsense."

An Qinghua quickly grabbed her bag to cover her face.
