Chapter 62 Do you love me?
Qin Suisui really didn't want to be the girl who understood instantly, but her brain had already reacted before she could. Recalling what she had said at the train station in Yanzhou that day, Qin Suisui wished she could tear her mouth apart!
But Pei Jiuyan actually called her "wife," which was the first time he had called her that in all the time they had been married.
She quickly covered her face with her other free hand and turned to look out the window: "I've finally come back, I should spend some time with my parents."
Pei Jiuyan chuckled: "Dad has been away on a business trip for more than a week, and today Mom and Dad had a fight because of Grandma, and Dad has to coax her... In short, they probably need more space than we do."
Qin Suisui really didn't want to understand it instantly again!!
But upon closer reflection, Liu Qianyun is only in her early forties. She's naturally beautiful, and with proper maintenance, she looks like she's in her thirties. Pei Huoshan, being in the military, maintains daily training and exercise, so naturally he doesn't look old.
For the sake of her in-laws' feelings, Qin Suisui naturally couldn't object anymore, so she could only nod with a blush on her face.
Sure enough, before dinner time, Pei Huoshan returned early with a basket of vegetables.
Upon seeing Qin Suisui, he happily held up the basket in his hand: "Suisui, this is your first time in Beijing. You haven't tried any Beijing specialties yet, have you? Today I specially went to Quanjude to buy a roast duck, and I also got a Beijing specialty, Four Happiness Meatballs, from our company's canteen. I'll stir-fry these side dishes in a bit, and then we'll eat right away!"
After saying that, he glanced furtively into the house and asked Qin Suisui in a low voice, "Where's your mother?"
Qin Suisui found his behavior amusing; she never expected that her father-in-law, who was so imposing outside, would be so timid in front of his own daughter-in-law.
"Mom went to clean our bridal chamber. Ayan went to pick her up now, she should be back soon."
Pei Huoshan nodded: "Okay! Then sit here and rest for a while. Dad bought you some jujube paste pastries. Eat these first, and we'll have dinner in a bit!"
After saying that, he went into the kitchen to get busy. Qin Suisui tried to go in and help several times, but Pei Huoshan, who was wearing an apron, chased her out each time.
Not long after, Pei Jiuyan also brought Liu Qianyun back.
Pei Huoshan was overjoyed and rushed out of the kitchen. Without even looking at his son, he stared expectantly at Liu Qianyun. "Wife, come and help me taste it to see if it's salty enough!"
Upon seeing Pei Huoshan, Liu Qianyun's originally smiling face immediately turned cold. She gave a light "humph," ignored his solicitous greeting, and sat down directly on the sofa.
Pei Huoshan, wearing an apron and holding a spatula, was such a tall man, yet he squatted down in front of Liu Qianyun with a pitiful expression, saying, "Wife, the children are here, please give me some face."
Liu Qianyun glanced at Pei Jiuyan and Qin Suisui, who were watching the scene unfold. Qin Suisui immediately turned her face away, pretending not to see anything. Pei Jiuyan, on the other hand, was used to this kind of atmosphere at home since he was a child. He poured tea for Qin Suisui while keeping a close eye on them.
Liu Qianyun glared at Pei Jiuyan and then at Pei Huoshan, but still stood up and followed Pei Huoshan into the kitchen.
Qin Suisui and Pei Jiuyan exchanged a glance, suppressing the urge to laugh. She lowered her head and took a big gulp of tea from her cup, then said with an awkward smile, "Hehe, this tea is quite delicious."
Pei Jiuyan smiled and refilled her teacup: "Jasmine tea, there's still plenty at the bridal chamber. If you like, we can go buy more tomorrow to take back with us."
Pei Jiuyan knew Qin Suisui loved tea, but he didn't know how she had become such a tea connoisseur at such a young age. Since she liked it, he would send her some whenever he had free time, and he would also subconsciously stock up on some whenever he saw it.
After dinner, Pei Jiuyan stood up to wash the dishes.
Unexpectedly, Pei Huoshan stood up abruptly, grabbed Pei Jiuyan's hand that was reaching for the bowl and chopsticks, and urged, "Hurry, hurry, it's getting dark outside, take Sui Sui back to your bridal chamber!"
Pei Jiuyan looked at him helplessly: "Do you have to be in such a hurry?"
Pei Huoshan glanced at him disdainfully: "I wonder who was in a hurry, making my wife rush to help clean this afternoon!"
Qin Suisui coughed lightly, feeling a little embarrassed. She glared at Pei Jiuyan and said she would go help in the afternoon, but he refused to let her go, saying that her mother had already hired someone to help. Now, she was being manipulated by her father-in-law.
Liu Qianyun glared at Pei Huoshan speechlessly, then pulled Qin Suisui aside: "Suisui, you two go back to the bridal chamber tonight. It's all been cleaned up. Have Ayan buy breakfast at the state-run restaurant. Come back for lunch. After lunch, Mom will take you to Wangfujing for a stroll. Tonight, we'll go to Donglaishun for hot pot!"
After finishing her meal, she glared at Pei Jiuyan and warned in a low voice, "Sui Sui is still young, don't make too much of a fuss! You're only staying for three days, and Mom is taking her shopping tomorrow!"
Pei Jiuyan glanced at Pei Huoshan and said somewhat disrespectfully, "You can talk about it when you can get up tomorrow."
Seeing that her father-in-law was about to pull out his belt, Qin Suisui quickly pulled Pei Jiuyan out the door.
The wedding room isn't far from here, about a ten-minute drive away.
This is a two-story Soviet-style building with rough cement walls on the ground floor, exposed red brick walls on the second floor, and a roof covered with dark red machine-made tiles. It also has a separate courtyard, which is slightly larger than the family compound on Qiongtan Island.
The master bedroom was also on the second floor, and it was larger than the one on Qiongtan Island. It had a large double wooden window and a camphor wood chest-style bed base. At the foot of the bed was a large wardrobe printed with large peony flowers, and inside hung several sets of clothes, from thick to thin, all appearing to be her size, including two silk pajamas. Next to the wardrobe was a five-drawer chest with a hidden lock, a dressing table by the window, and surprisingly, a two-seater sofa against the wall.
Such a wedding room was considered extremely luxurious in this era, and even Qin Suisui, who was used to a good life, was somewhat shocked.
Pei Jiuyan took a nightgown from the closet and handed it to Qin Suisui. His expression remained unchanged as he urged, "Go take a shower quickly. The hot water is ready."
Qin Suisui blushed as she took the item, then reluctantly went into the bathroom and awkwardly washed herself thoroughly. Thinking about what might happen later, she even went into her spatial dimension.
There was a mirror in the small wooden cabin. I looked at myself in the mirror several times. Except for the blush on my face that just wouldn't fade, everything else was perfect.
As soon as she stepped out of the cabin, Big Yellow and Big Black ran over and circled around her.
Qin Suisui then realized that she had been in the car for the past few days and hadn't had a chance to enter the space, so she didn't know how the two little ones were adapting.
Fortunately, they look fine and even seem to have gained weight.
When she brought them into the space, she had already set rules for them: they couldn't damage or trample on anything, and they couldn't kill the chicks, ducks, cows, or sheep at will. The two little ones were very obedient. Apart from the cucumbers, tomatoes, bananas, and lychees being mostly gone, and a few newly grown watermelons being missing, everything else in the space remained the same.
Qin Suisui thought that after returning to Qiongtan Island, she would have to bring in a few more banana and lychee trees, as the two little ones loved to eat them.
Pei Jiuyan waited outside for a long time but Qin Suisui didn't come out. At first, he could still hear the sounds inside, but later he couldn't hear anything at all. He was a little worried, so he went to the bathroom door and knocked: "Wife, are you done washing up?"
Hearing the knocking at the door, Qin Suisui suddenly came to her senses. She had forgotten that Pei Jiuyan was still waiting outside as soon as she entered the space. She quickly said goodbye to the two little ones, told them to guard the space, and then came out.
After washing his hands again and opening the door, Pei Jiuyan saw that the girl inside was fine and didn't seem uncomfortable. He then explained, "You haven't come out for so long, I was worried that you weren't feeling well..."
Qin Suisui smiled and said casually, "I'm fine. I just didn't shower in the car and felt uncomfortable, so I took a little longer to shower. You go ahead and shower!" After saying that, she told him to come out and walked back to the room while drying her hair.
Pei Jiuyan glanced at her retreating figure, pursed his lips, and felt a little heavy-hearted.
He showered quickly, and when he came out, Qin Suisui's hair was still wet.
Pei Jiuyan naturally walked over and took the towel from her hand, just like when they were on Qiongtan Island, and gently dried her hair without saying a word.
As his hair was almost dry, Pei Jiuyan opened and closed his lips several times before speaking softly, "Actually... if you don't want to, we can postpone it for now..."
The blush that had just faded from Qin Suisui's face instantly returned. She lowered her head, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her silk pajamas, and said softly, "I didn't say anything..."
Pei Jiuyan probably didn't hear him clearly. He lowered his head slightly, brought his ear close to Qin Suisui's face, and asked again, "What did you say?"
Qin Suisui was a little embarrassed and annoyed. She didn't want to say it a second time, so she simply turned her face away and bit Pei Jiuyan's infuriating mouth.
Pei Jiuyan chuckled and quickly took the initiative, even picking the person up and carrying them inside.
Qin Suisui was being carried in his arms like a princess, her body suspended in the air. The slight feeling of weightlessness made her cling tightly to his neck with both hands, which made it even easier for him to plunder her.
The moment she felt her shoulders and back fall onto the bed, the feeling of weightlessness finally disappeared, and Qin Suisui felt a sense of relief. But the next second, she felt a slight chill on her body. Her thin silk nightgown had mischievously slipped down at some point, and even though it was June, Qin Suisui couldn't help but shiver.
The dizziness she felt that morning on Qiongtan Island returned, as if her oxygen had been stolen. Qin Suisui was guided by him the whole time, and in her dazed state, she heard Pei Jiuyan's seductive voice ask her, "Do you love me?"
She nodded instinctively. Of course she loved him; how could she not? He was the only man who had been with her throughout her entire youth.
The next second, a sharp pain shot through her body. Qin Suisui instinctively raised her neck, wanting to cry out in pain, but then warm lips covered hers, swallowing her voice completely.
That night, the pair of red candles that Pei Jiuyan lit in the bridal chamber flickered all night long.
