Chapter Four / Section Four: The Beginning of Suffering

Chapter Four / Section Four: The Beginning of Suffering

He always stood smiling in the opposite direction of the wind, and the faint fragrance wafting from his thousands of strands of hair carried only endless sorrow and memories of the past.

Jing Mo Ran kept running, tears streaming down his face. He couldn't understand why fate was so cruel in separating them; he hadn't done anything wrong.

Jing Mo Ran encountered his father, Jing Tong Yu. His father clearly saw Jing Mo Ran's lifeless expression and stopped him.

"Get out of my sight, you don't deserve to be my father."

"What did you say? He dares to talk back to me?" Jing Tongyu seemed about to explode in anger.

Jing Mo Ran was being held by the collar by his father, their eyes locked. Jing Mo Ran seemed utterly fearless as he stared back at Jing Tong Yu, his gaze fixed on him.

"You're a monster who can't feel pain. Who do you think you are? You can't even save yourself, yet you want to find Xiong Yingguang. You and she are just siblings! Do you think you can be together?"

Jing Mo Ran's eyes widened in disbelief. He couldn't believe what Jing Tong Yu was saying. He couldn't believe that he and Xiong Ying Guang were siblings; he simply couldn't believe it.

“You’re talking nonsense. Xiong Yingguang is not my sister. She’s not related to me by blood. He’s talking nonsense.”

"You're ridiculous. You lost too much blood in your arm. Who do you think saved you? Do you want to end up like your mother, marrying someone of your own blood and having a child that's neither fish nor fowl?"

Jing Mo Ran pushed Jing Tong Yu away. He refused to believe Jing Tong Yu's nonsense. That man had made him live a miserable life, and he only wanted to make his father pay the price when he could take revenge one day.

He would never believe a single word his father said that slandered Xiong Yingguang, regardless of whether they were blood-related siblings or not. He wanted to protect her for the rest of his life until he disappeared from her sight.

“Jing Moran, why don’t you go find Xiong Yingguang? Do you want her to live a painful life without you every day? Yantai, Shandong is a place Xiong Yingguang doesn’t know at all. Can you bear to leave her there alone?” Lu Xiyao said.

"Wasn't he walking with Xiong Yingguang? Why isn't he with him...?"

“Because Xiong Yingguang has always liked her. Actually, the blood transfusion to him was only related to blood type. Besides, Xiong Yingguang told her that you and she are not related by blood. Why don’t you go after her?” Lu Xiyao said.

Upon hearing this, Jing Moran immediately rushed to the airport, but Lu Xiyao took out a plane ticket and gave it to Jing Moran. Lu Xiyao said, "This is a ticket that Mu Xinghe's father booked for you. He hopes that he can stay away from Mu Xinghe because his father doesn't want you to be so close to Mu Xinghe. Let me take you to the airport!"

Upon hearing this, Jing Mozhan turned and ran. He wanted to grab a schoolbag to pack some important things, things that were most important to Xiong Yingguang.

"I'm going home to get some things. I'm going to the airport right away to catch a flight to find Xiong Yingguang."

Looking at Jing Moran's face, Lu Xiyao smiled as well. She knew that all she could do now was let go and fulfill his wishes, because only in this way could Xiong Yingguang and Jing Moran be together.

For Xiong Yingguang, there were a million reasons why he couldn't abandon her. So the day he fell in love with her, he was already prepared to stand up for her against everything. Isn't liking someone about constantly changing yourself for her? Even if you're no longer yourself, you'll still feel happy.

On her way to the station, Xiong Yingguang kept looking back at the streets that were gradually disappearing, at every corner where she and Jing Mozhan had spent time together. She seemed to miss them terribly. She was reluctant to leave and wanted to be close to Jing Mozhan more than anyone else, but now she felt very empty because Jing Mozhan was not by her side.

"Ocean, why did you take me away? I can't bear to leave him."

“If people don’t know the pain of separation, they won’t know how to cherish the people who are important to them. If Jing Moran cares about her, he will do everything in his power to chase after her. Even if she escapes to the ends of the earth, he will search the ground to find her.”

"But...but..."

“There are no buts. If you don’t go to Shandong soon, your mother might not make it.”

"What! What happened to my mother...?"

"Your mother has brain cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy in Yantai, Shandong. Before she passed away, your mother wanted to see her one last time."

Crying won't help Xiong Yingguang now. She feels incredibly powerless and unable to redeem her mother. She remembers how happy she was when her mother was with her, but she was too willful and always argued with her mother. Now, she won't have the chance to argue anymore.

She knew she was being willful, and her mother had always forgiven her. Her mother wouldn't abandon her because she was her mother's only daughter. She wished time could stand still in the time when her mother loved her, neither advancing nor retreating, just right. But she couldn't stop the passage of time or change the current situation.

"Why! Why is God so cruel to her? I am her only family in the world. What am I going to do to love her! What will happen to Cang Ruoxi and Haiyang?!"

Xiong Yingguang's eyes widened as if she were about to lose herself. She hadn't expected the thing she didn't want to face to arrive so soon.

“Xiong Yingguang, although we are not your relatives, I will always be by your side. I know you are in pain right now, but you can grow up as long as you get through this pain.”

"Tell me how to face this! She's my only family left in the world..."

She wanted to stay immersed in the beautiful past with him forever, but she couldn't turn back time. She was so powerless. He was about to leave her, and all she could do was keep crying and shedding tears.

As the train drew closer to the station, Xiong Yingguang's gaze became vacant, yet filled with countless sorrows and grief. The sudden pain overwhelmed her, and she didn't know why her emotions were flowing out of control. Even the people she loved couldn't spend more time with her.

"Alright, alright, wipe your tears. It's not pretty for a girl to have smudged eyes from crying," Cang Ruoxi said with a smile, handing a tissue to Xiong Yingguang.

Just as she was about to board the plane, her heart was filled with only the one she longed for—the one who was so important and indispensable. He had raised her all by himself, taught her to walk, provided for her education, taught her to study, played with her, and taught her the ways of the world. Without him, she wouldn't be as outstanding as she is now, which is why she wanted him to stay with her forever.

Pain was gradually eroding her and every inch of her skin. She knew she couldn't let go, but she was afraid that if she saw him, she would truly lose control of her emotions.

If she had the ability to turn back time, she would only want time to remain forever in those childhood days when he loved her. She wished she knew nothing, that at least he was still standing healthy in front of her, that at least she was happy when she was with him, that at least he could still be there for her through thick and thin, through joy and sorrow...
