Chapter Six / Section Two: Siblings
The taboo of blood ties became the reason they could not be together. When Jing Mo Ran learned that the two were related by blood, all her thoughts about loving her instantly collapsed.
Jing Mozhan stared intently at Xiong Yingguang, who had her back to him, and finally uttered the words that had been choked in her throat.
“Xiong Yingguang, whether they are siblings or not, they promised each other not to leave each other and not to hate each other. Now, her is all that’s left in his world.” Jing Mo Ran’s words gradually turned sorrowful.
He gazed at the calm river, the wind blowing in the opposite direction, and a sudden surge of tender strength welled up within him. He knew he couldn't leave her, yet he couldn't learn to let go.
Xiong Yingguang promised him that, regardless of whether they were siblings, they would never abandon each other.
Xiong Yingguang watched as Haiyang took them to get their blood tested. Those secrets buried deep in the past will one day be revealed to everyone.
Jing Mo Ran looked up at the white ceiling, his mind filled with Xiong Ying Guang's image. He didn't know why he was so fascinated by her; he couldn't help but care about anything related to her.
"Brother Haiyang, are he and Xiong Yingguang siblings?"
“Jing Moran, there are some things he may not know. In fact, he and Xiong Yingguang are the closest siblings. Haiyang witnessed their birth.”
"Then why did you take him for a blood test?"
“Jing Moran, why doesn’t he understand? If he doesn’t get a blood test, Xiong Yingguang won’t believe him.”
“Brother Haiyang, no matter what the outcome is, he will believe that he just wants to be with her like this.”
After a night's flight, Mu Xinghe finally arrived in Yantai, Shandong.
She came to see Jing Mo Ran with his favorite birthday present, unsure of what to say to him. She loved Jing Mo Ran so much that she was willing to defy the world and stand against everything outside for him.
"Have you seen this person before?" Mu Xinghe asked, randomly grabbing someone on the street.
"It's you, Mu Xinghe? What are you doing in Yantai, Shandong? You're not here to see Jing Moran, are you?!"
“Lu Xiyao, there is no possibility of her being with Jing Moran anymore, but she will still pursue him, even if it's just to get a little bit of his affirmation.”
"Mu Xinghe, was it worth it for her to travel all the way from Nanning to Yantai for Jing Moran? When has Jing Moran ever appreciated anything? From elementary school until now, every single time her efforts have been in vain. When has he ever shown her any pity or care? Why is she unwilling to face the truth?"
"Just consider her crazy. She's become too deeply involved in the relationship with him and can't suppress her feelings for Jing Mo Ran. She's found that she'll be in immense pain without him..."
Looking into Mu Xinghe's eyes, Lu Xiyao couldn't utter a single word of comfort.
Xiong Yingguang had just come out of the convenience store when she saw Lu Xiyao walking towards her with Mu Xinghe. She had nowhere to hide and could not escape the oppressive feeling of being face to face with Mu Xinghe.
"Xiong Yingguang...it's you..."
"I also want to ask why it was you..."
"Where is Jing Moran..."
"Mu Xinghe, she used to hate you, but now she can't find a reason to hate you anymore. Actually, regardless of whether Jing Moran takes a blood test or not, she already knows that he is related to her by blood. He is her long-lost brother, which is why she has rejected him time and time again and is unwilling to get close to him. She is worried that he is only acting out of familial affection. You should be with him from now on, and then she will disappear from his sight and never appear again."
"Wait, where are you going?"
"Where to? To a place without Jing Mozhan. Only in this way can I forget the pain and memories of him by deceiving myself."
As Mu Xinghe watched Xiong Yingguang's dejected figure disappear into the distance, she realized that she had never coveted even a single thing from Jing Moran. The way she had treated Xiong Yingguang before made her feel utterly inhuman.
Lu Xiyao couldn't abandon Xiong Yingguang, because he was her best friend. He was overjoyed to learn that Jing Moran was her brother.
"Xiong Yingguang, wait for me!" Lu Xiyao called out from behind.
She approached him step by step, but if her only goal was to win him over, she felt that even if she succeeded, it would all be in vain, because without understanding him, she would ultimately lose him. If she wanted to truly win him over, she should start by understanding him.
Xiong Yingguang turned around and kept pounding Lu Xiyao's chest with her fists, tears of pain streaming down her face. She seemed very reluctant to let Jing Moran be taken away by someone else.
“Lu Xiyao, tell her! Why is God so cruel? She once loved Jing Moran so much, but why were they made to be related by blood? Who did she offend? She can only love Jing Moran in the name of family. Seeing him love someone else, she feels nothing but resentment and pain… Why…” Xiong Yingguang’s heart was in turmoil, and sorrow was corroding her like sulfuric acid.
“Xiong Yingguang, he is your brother…you shouldn’t…”
"But just when she fell in love with him, fate made her give him up. She was in so much pain! Can you understand that?"
"Xiong Yingguang, don't cry. You still have me. I will always be with you."
Looking at Lu Xiyao's face, Xiong Yingguang still couldn't suppress the unrestrained pain radiating from her.
She clearly loved him so much, but when she fell for him, fate told her they couldn't be together because they were related by blood. It was like a child wanting to buy candy and asking an adult for money, but the adult didn't give enough, so the child had to give up the idea of buying candy.
She poured so much effort into loving you, yet you're separated by blood. Breaking the taboo will inevitably come at a price.
Could the boy please give her a breather, put aside her feelings for him, and let her slowly forget everything about him, erasing the memories bit by bit...? But when she looked back, she realized that she simply couldn't forget, dared not forget, and didn't want to forget. She was afraid that one day when she forgot, the memory of that familiar name would cause her unbearable pain.
