Chapter 219: Can’t Just Wait

"It's too late for me to worry," Xianglu said with a smile. "My master has been wronged and suffered in vain for so long. Now that the truth has come to light, I wonder how much His Majesty regrets it. He might even be on his way here."

"Don't talk too much." Dou Jingwan glared at her, and thinking of Xu Rushuang's current fate, a sneer slowly appeared at the corner of her lips.

When His Majesty lifts her ban, she will teach that bitch a lesson!

The cold wind blew the clouds in the sky, and before anyone knew it, two hours had passed.

The people in Huaqing Palace gradually became silent from their excitement, and Xianglu kept sending people to check at the door.

The young eunuch made several empty trips, and each time he came back he said the same thing, "Miss, I didn't see anyone coming our way."

"Why hasn't she come yet?" Xianglu bit her lip and glanced into the inner room. It seemed that she could see the beautiful woman sleeping soundly on the bed through the layers of gauze curtains.

If the master wakes up and doesn't see the imperial edict of restoration, I'm afraid everyone in the palace will be in trouble.

She thought for a moment, handed a white purse to the eunuch, and whispered, "Find out something quickly."

The young eunuch nodded, put his purse in his pocket and went out.

Xianglu paced back and forth anxiously at the door, and after half an hour she finally waited for the young eunuch to come back.

She couldn't wait to go over and ask, "How is it? What news have you heard?"

The young eunuch was panting from running, his throat dry. He swallowed hard before saying, "This morning, the Yang-Yangxin Palace summoned the imperial physician."

"Call the imperial physician?" Xianglu frowned slightly and asked, "Do you know what it's for?"

The young eunuch shook his head.

Xianglu took two steps, holding hands, and asked again, "Where is the imperial decree for the master's restoration? Is there any movement from the Jingshifang?"

The young eunuch continued to shake his head.

Seeing this, Xianglu looked around the cleaned palace. Could it be that it was all a false alarm?

The young eunuch asked, "Does the young lady have any other instructions?"

"You go watch at the door and report back if anyone comes." Xianglu still held a glimmer of hope.

The young eunuch took the order and left.

"Xianglu." A shout came from the hall and Dou Jingwan woke up.

Xianglu shook hands vigorously, calmed herself down, and then lifted the heavy door curtain and went in.

Dou Jingwan leaned against the soft pillow and said to Xianglu when she saw her, "Bring me some tea."

Xianglu turned around and went to the table to pour tea, holding it with both hands.

Dou Jingwan took two sips to moisten her throat and looked up at her: "Has the imperial edict arrived?"

"The imperial edict..." Xiang Lu lowered her eyes, not daring to look at her, her eyes darting around, "He didn't come."

"Didn't come?" Dou Jingwan was startled, her brows furrowed as she asked sternly, "Why didn't they come? Have you sent anyone to the Jingshifang to find out if it's those lazy guys who aren't doing their job properly?"

"Master, please calm down." Xianglu knelt down. "We only heard that the Yangxin Palace summoned the imperial physician this morning. We have no other news."

"No, how could there be no..." Dou Jingwan's face turned pale, her slender white fingers clenched the quilt, and she bent over and coughed violently.

"My Lord!" Xianglu hurried forward to rub her back. "Don't worry. Perhaps His Majesty is busy with matters before the court and can't spare the time. Let's wait a little longer."

She felt guilty even saying this. The government offices were sealed, so how busy could the former dynasty be?

Dou Jingwan leaned over the edge of the bed, as if she was going to cough out her lungs.

The violent coughing echoed in the hall and did not stop for a long time.

"Master, please take care of yourself." Xianglu poured more tea. "The imperial edict will arrive sooner or later."

"You!" Dou Jingwan raised her hand and grabbed her wrist, her delicate eyebrows stained with a hint of anger. "Go to Youlan Residence immediately and pass on the message."

She couldn't just wait!

Xianglu was about to ask what the message was when a voice came from outside, and Qiu Sui was coming.

Xianglu hurriedly helped Dou Jingwan lie down, and the gauze curtains fell layer by layer, covering the figure on the bed.

Qiu Sui walked around the screen and came in. Xianglu greeted her and bowed with a smile.

Qiu Sui returned a half bow, turned her head to look at the bed, and asked, "Are you feeling better today, my lord?"

"I'm still short of breath and feeling weak all over. I was coughing for half an hour just now. I took some medicine and just went to bed." Xianglu looked worried. "I've been drinking bowl after bowl of medicine, but it's not working at all."

Qiu Sui glanced at the small table beside the bed and didn't see the medicine bowl.

She rolled her eyes slightly and comforted Xianglu softly, "Illness comes like a mountain falling, and goes away like a thread being pulled out. You will get better if you take care of yourself slowly."

Xianglu nodded, "I hope so."

Qiu Sui walked towards the bed, saying as she went, "The Empress asked me to come and visit you, my dear. I'll take a look before I return and report."

She reached out to lift the gauze curtain. Xianglu subconsciously wanted to stop her, but Qiusui was faster than her and had lifted the gauze curtain before she could stop her.

There were no lights in the inner room, and the light was dim.

Qiu Sui leaned over to look into the bed and saw the person sleeping on the bed facing inward on their side, revealing half of their snow-white face, which seemed to be glowing against the dark bedding.

"My dear?" She called out softly twice, but the person on the bed did not respond at all.

Xianglu explained softly, "Don't blame me, Auntie. The master is in a deep sleep after drinking the medicine. If you have anything to say, please tell me. I will tell you when the master wakes up."

"I see that you have lost a lot of weight, young lady, you should serve him more attentively." Qiu Sui put down the gauze curtain and turned to look at Xianglu.

Xianglu nodded awkwardly, not daring to refute.

Qiu Sui said, "I have to go back and report. Goodbye."

"Goodbye, auntie." Xianglu sent the person to the door, and only turned back and closed the door after seeing the person walk away.

She lifted the gauze curtain again and tried to reach out to help Dou Jingwan up, but Dou Jingwan glared at her, "Waste!"

Xianglu pursed her lips and said nothing, feeling a little aggrieved.

She didn't want to greet Qiu Sui with a smile, but things were different now. Her master was no longer Concubine Rong, but Qiu Sui was still the Empress Dowager's confidant. How could she afford to offend her?

Dou Jingwan got angry when she saw her like this. When she got angry, her throat felt itchy. She coughed twice and waved to Xianglu to come closer.

Xianglu approached cautiously.

Dou Jingwan whispered a few words in her ear and urged her, "Hurry and do it."

Changchun Palace.

The beaded curtain made a slight sound. Queen Zhong looked up, glanced at Qiu Sui who came in, and then lowered her head to continue reading.

Qiu Sui walked over and massaged her shoulders, saying softly, "Noble Lady Dou's illness has improved a lot, but I'm afraid she's still angry."

Empress Zhong glanced at her sideways, and Qiu Sui smiled, "This servant has observed that Huaqing Palace is very clean."

Hearing this, Queen Zhong's eyes moved slightly, and she said "hmm" softly, with a faint smile on her face.

Qiu Sui looked at her and asked softly, "My Lady, can she wait?"

Queen Zhong asked back, "What do you think?"

Qiu Sui thought for a moment and uttered one word: "Difficult."

Empress Zhong remained silent on this, looking down at two pages of a book before suddenly asking, "Is life peaceful in Yiran Garden?"

Qiu Sui curled her lips and said, "This servant doesn't seem to be at peace."

The tone was quite indignant.

Empress Zhong turned to look at her, and Qiu Sui took the opportunity to ask the doubts that had been accumulating in her heart for a long time: "Your Majesty, why didn't you eliminate that hidden danger as soon as possible?"

While the situation hasn't gotten serious yet, she could easily find a pretext to get rid of him. She believed that with her queen's abilities, His Majesty would be able to find no fault with her.

Empress Zhong put down the book, looked at her seriously for a moment, and said, "There are many ways to make someone disappear quietly in this palace."

Qiu Sui was even more confused, "Then why not..."

Before she could finish her question, Empress Zhong raised her hand to interrupt her and asked, "Who has the greatest power in this palace?"

Qiu Sui said without hesitation, "Of course it's Your Majesty."

"Now that you know this, don't ask such stupid questions again." Queen Zhong picked up the book again and instructed, "The tea is weak, change it."
