"Excuse me, is this Commander Gu's wife, Comrade Jiang Yue?"
As soon as Jiang Yue got off the helicopter, two soldiers came to greet him.
"Yes, it's me!" Jiang Yue's heart was tense. The veins on the back of her hands bulged out because she was holding the suitcase with too much force.
"Please follow us!" A soldier took the suitcase from Jiang Yue and motioned her to walk in a direction.
"Did something happen to Gu Ye?" Jiang Yue didn't dare to ask Commander Zheng all the way. She always had an illusion in her heart that as long as she didn't ask, it meant that Gu Ye was fine.
But now the helicopter brought Jiang Yue to the military hospital. Even if she didn't want to admit it, she knew in her heart that something must have happened to Gu Ye.
"Comrade Jiang Yue, don't worry!" The two soldiers did not directly answer Jiang Yue's question, but only comforted her, "It's just ahead, we'll be there soon!"
Jiang Yue looked at the two people's solemn expressions and felt as if a huge rock was pressing on her heart, making it so heavy that she could hardly breathe.
Two soldiers took Jiang Yue into the inpatient department and went to the third floor. In the doctor's office, there were several military doctors in white coats and a man who looked about the same age as Commander Zheng.
At just one glance, Jiang Yue felt the majestic aura coming from the man, which was extremely oppressive.
"Commander Jiang, this is Commander Gu's wife, Comrade Jiang Yue!" The soldier who brought Jiang Yue over saluted and introduced Jiang Yue to the man.
Jiang Yue was shocked again when she heard this. This person was the commander? But why did he bring her to see the commander?
Commander Jiang had been looking at Jiang Yue since she came in. The girl was young and seemed quite calm, except that her face was a little pale and her eyes could not hide her worry. The fact that she was still standing there so firmly without crying or having weak legs and unable to walk made him think highly of her.
"Comrade Jiang Yue, Comrade Gu Ye was injured while on duty, and his condition is not good."
The person who spoke was an older military doctor in a white coat standing beside Commander Jiang.
Jiang Yue was originally very calm, as she thought she had prepared for the worst. However, when she heard the military doctor say that Gu Ye was in bad condition, her mind suddenly buzzed and her body shook.
"Help her sit down first!" Commander Jiang ordered the guard beside him.
"No, I'm fine!" Jiang Yue raised her hand. Her face became even paler, which made her already dark eyes even darker.
"Please continue! Gu Ye, what's wrong with the situation?" Jiang Yue's throat tightened when he finished speaking.
"Captain Gu was injured by a landmine while on a mission and is currently in a coma!" said the military doctor.
Jiang Yue felt as if her heart was being gripped by something. She took a few deep breaths and asked, "So he's still alive, right? Can I go see him?"
"Okay!" Commander Jiang signaled the military doctor to take Jiang Yue over.
After Jiang Yue left, another military doctor asked with a heavy face: "Commander Jiang, Commander Gu has been unconscious. Should we tell Commander Gu? To prevent——"
Commander Jiang was silent for a while before he said, "Let's not talk about it for now. Gu Ye will be fine!"
The military doctor responded, but his expression was very serious and not optimistic at all.
Jiang Yue didn't know how she walked to the front of the ward. Her mind was in a mess and she didn't know what she was thinking. She felt that all this was unreal.
The military doctor pushed open the door and said to Jiang Yue, "Captain Gu is inside!"
Jiang Yue had already seen a person lying on the hospital bed, with gauze wrapped around his head, an oxygen tube inserted, and his eyes closed.
The ward was very quiet, so quiet that Jiang Yue's scalp went numb and she felt as if there were heavy weights under her feet.
She walked step by step to the bedside, as if she couldn't believe that the person lying on the bed was Gu Ye. She stared at the pale face, and after seeing clearly that it was indeed a familiar face, the blood color on her face instantly faded.
"how so?"
“Why is this happening!”
Jiang Yue murmured. She couldn't figure it out. Wasn't Gu Ye the hero? Wasn't he very powerful? How could he be injured? And the original book didn't mention that he had been injured so badly!
"Gu Ye, Gu Ye!" Jiang Yue's eyes were red. She held Gu Ye's hand and called him softly.
But Gu Ye did not respond.
In the past, his whole body was hard and his vitality was as strong as fire, but now his hands were cold and his chest seemed to have no movement, and he was silent like a corpse.
Jiang Yue felt a chill in her heart. She looked at Gu Ye's face in horror and reached out to feel his breath with trembling hands. After feeling his weak breath, her throat suddenly loosened.
Fortunately, he is still alive!
Jiang Yue looked at Gu Ye's pale and bloodless face. There was gauze wrapped around his head, and his exposed shoulders, arms, and palms were also wrapped in gauze.
She gently lifted the quilt and saw that Gu Ye's abdomen was also wrapped in gauze. She could imagine how serious his injuries were.
"Snap! Snap!"
Jiang Yue only realized the fear at this moment. She could no longer hold back her tears, which fell like a broken string. She wiped them away quickly, fearing that her tears would fall on Gu Ye.
She knew that now was not the time to cry, but she could not help crying. She wiped away her tears, but they fell again and soon soaked her handkerchief.
"Comrade Jiang Yue, Captain Gu was injured by a landmine. He kept calling your name when he was unconscious. You should talk to him more and see if he can wake up." The military doctor did not tell Jiang Yue much about Gu Ye's injury, mainly because he was afraid that she would not be able to accept it.
"Okay, I get it!" Jiang Yue knew that she couldn't collapse at this moment. No matter how scared she was, she had to be strong.
The military doctor closed the door and left, leaving only Jiang Yue and Gu Ye in the ward.
