Gu Ye reached out and picked up something on the table. It felt heavy in his hand.
"Small yellow croaker!" Gu Ye mouthed to Jiang Yue.
Small yellow croaker is a kind of gold bar during the Republic of China period. In troubled times, gold became the currency for the rich to save their lives, and "small yellow croaker" became a special method of transaction at that time because of its small size and portability.
In addition to small yellow croaker, there is also a large yellow croaker, which is heavier. These are the reserves kept in the bottom of the drawers of wealthy families and will not be used easily.
Jiang Yue knew this common sense and was shocked: "This table was bought from a scrap yard, how could there be——"
Jiang Yue paused halfway through her speech. She looked outside the yard. Although her house was in a remote area, people would pass by here from time to time.
Jiang Yue was worried that walls might have ears, and if someone heard it and spread it, it would be a trouble.
Jiang Yue was very clear about the principle of being guilty of possessing a treasure.
"I'll go close the door!" After Gu Ye came back, the door to the courtyard was half open. He went to bolt it and also looked to see if there was anyone outside the door.
Gu Ye cautiously walked around the door, came back, shook his head at Jiang Yue, and locked the door.
"Let's eat first!" Jiang Yue suspected that there was a secret compartment in the table, but now was not the time to check.
Jiang Yue originally planned to tell Ningning not to tell anyone what happened just now, but then she changed her mind and thought that Ningning was young and she would not understand that telling anyone about this would cause big trouble.
Besides, Ningning is in kindergarten now, and maybe she would brag among her friends that she took out a yellow object from her desk at home.
Although children may not necessarily tell others, what if they do?
Just like Ningning would share with Jiang Yue every day what happened in the kindergarten, what each child’s parents said or did, and occasionally she would talk about it.
Jiang Yue asked her how she knew that, and Ningning said that they just talked about it among their friends.
Don't be afraid of ten thousand, just be prepared for the worst!
Jiang Yue rolled her eyes and said to Ningning, "Ningning, actually what you just saw was stuffed into the table by your mom, and she deliberately let your dad touch it. Change it, and make a fish appear. Ningning, do you think it's fun?"
Ningning blinked her eyes, clapped her hands and said, "It's fun, Dad will turn into a big yellow croaker again!"
"Now there are no more. I can only transform into one fish a day. I have to wait until tomorrow morning to get fish!" Jiang Yue clapped her hands.
Ning Ning said happily: "Then we'll change it tomorrow!"
"Okay! Ningning, go wash your hands first, we'll have dinner soon!" Jiang Yue touched Ningning's little head.
Gu Ye flicked Jiang Yue's forehead lightly and mouthed, "How can you fool a child like this?"
Jiang Yue curled her lips, "If I don't say that, what if Ning Ning lets it slip and someone with ulterior motives hears it?"
Gu Ye kissed the corner of Jiang Yue's mouth and said, "I didn't say you did something wrong!"
In this way, even if Ningning chats with other children and tells them that her parents conjure up a yellow fish for her from the table at home and that they can do so every day, the children will only envy Ningning's parents for being so awesome.
If a child goes home and asks his parents for help to find a small yellow croaker from the table, his parents will just think that the children are just playing around and will not think that this small yellow croaker is not that small yellow croaker.
After dinner, Gu Ye cleaned up the dishes and washed them, Jiang Yue wiped the table, and then patiently took Ningning out for a walk.
After coming back, he poured water for Ningning to wash her face, butt and feet, and told Ningning a story. At 8:30, he coaxed Ningning to sleep on time. Jiang Yue rushed out to find Gu Ye at a very fast speed. She was anxious to see if there were any small yellow croakers on the table.
"Here!" Gu Ye was indeed not in a hurry. He was tidying up the table. When he saw Jiang Yue coming in, he handed her a postal form.
Jiang Yue took it and saw that it was a package sent from Beijing.
"Mom sent some food. She also said there were some clothes for you. I'll go with you to get them tomorrow!" Gu Ye said.
Ever since Jiang Yue and Gu Ye came back from Guangcheng, Rong Yin has been sending them things every now and then.
There is food and drink, as well as clothing.
"Gu Ye, did my mother-in-law receive the things I sent her?" Jiang Yue was a grateful person. Her mother-in-law was good to her, so she naturally had to be good to her as well. However, her mother-in-law had everything she needed, so she would cook some food and send it to her, or buy some specialties from the rural area here.
My mother-in-law called and said that my father-in-law liked the egg yolk pastry she made, but his blood sugar was a little high and he couldn't eat sweets, so Jiang Yue specially made a sugar-free version.
She was afraid that it would not taste good without adding sugar, so she squeezed juice from apples or corn and used it to knead flour, using the natural sweetness of apples and corn to enhance the flavor. She tasted it herself and thought it was quite delicious.
"Yes, I got it! Grandpa and Dad both praised you!" Gu Ye pinched Jiang Yue's face lovingly.
Jiang Yue felt relieved when she heard this. Everyone has different tastes, and she was really worried that Gu Ye’s father and grandfather would not like the snacks she made.
"Gu Ye, I will be able to return the money to my mother-in-law before the end of this month!"
"Mom said, don't worry! We are all family, it's okay if you don't return it!" Gu Ye smiled and put down the book in his hand.
"That won't do! One thing at a time, I'm already very grateful to my mother-in-law for lending me money. How can I not pay back such a large sum of money?"
This is about the time when Jiang Yue bought bell-bottom pants from Ajin, she immediately decided to ask Ajin to help her buy the entire batch of goods.
That batch of bell-bottom pants was returned by foreign buyers only because of incorrect labeling. Not only was there no problem with the quality, but because they were exported goods, the workmanship was better than domestic ones.
When the factory heard that someone wanted to buy this batch of bell-bottom pants that had been in stock for a long time, they were overjoyed. After receiving the deposit, they quickly arranged for people to pack the pants and gave a discount. They looked as if they couldn't wait to sell the pants as soon as possible, fearing that the buyer would go back on his word.
