Chapter 385: Make Down Jackets

By the time Jiang Yue finished sorting the goods, it was almost six o'clock.

Aunt Yang mixed the meat that Jiang Yue had left for her in the morning with cabbage and vermicelli, kneaded the dough and made buns. Jiang Yue and Ningning each ate one, and Gu Ye only ate two.

“Captain Gu, how can you be full with just two? There are more here, eat them!” Even though Aunt Yang and Yang Cuiling have known Gu Ye for such a long time, they still get nervous every time they talk to him.

The son of Widow Li at the head of their hometown village is also a soldier. It is said that he was promoted to company commander in the army. Widow Li is always arrogant in the village and is very proud of her son when she talks about him.

Originally, Aunt Yang and Yang Cuiling thought that the company commander was already a very high-ranking official, so Gu Ye, the regiment commander, was already a super-high-ranking official beyond their understanding.

Therefore, they would always be in awe when they saw Gu Ye. In addition, Gu Ye himself had a strong aura, so Aunt Yang and Yang Cuiling always spoke to Gu Ye in a cautious tone.

Jiang Yue had told Aunt Yang not to be afraid of Gu Ye, but even though Aunt Yang had promised, she would still be nervous the next time she saw Gu Ye.

"No, I ate before I came here, so I'm not hungry now!" Gu Ye, at Jiang Yue's request, tried his best to remain friendly when speaking to Aunt Yang and Yang Cuiling, without showing any harshness when scolding the soldiers.

However, he had not eaten as he told him, but he could not eat now, otherwise all the buns in Aunt Yang's basket would go into his stomach alone.

"Tuan Gu!" It was already dark at this time. Wang Yang came over with Hu Zi. Seeing that the store was sorting out the goods, he took Hu Zi to run a few laps outside.

After coming in, Wang Yang and Gu Ye stood at attention and saluted, then greeted Jiang Yue and others.

As soon as Hu Zi saw Gu Ye, he stood at attention and looked like he was abiding by the rules.

"Comrade Wang, have you eaten? Here are some buns! They're fresh out of the pot and still hot!" Wang Yang came to pick up Hu Zi this morning and chatted with Aunt Yang for a few words. Aunt Yang seemed to like this young man very much.

"No, Auntie, I've already had dinner in the cafeteria!" Wang Yang waved his hand.

"Hu Zi, eat it!" Ningning had eaten half of the meat bun in her hand. It was probably the second time she saw Hu Zi, so the little girl was not so scared anymore and actually stretched out the meat bun in her hand to him.

"Oh, Ningning, be careful!" Aunt Yang happened to be standing next to Ningning. Seeing this, she was so scared that she hurriedly tried to pull Ningning's hand back, fearing that Huzi would swallow the meat bun and Ningning's hand together.

"It doesn't matter. Hu Zi won't bite anyone without orders, nor will he eat food handed to him by others!" Wang Yang said with a smile.

Aunt Yang looked at Gu Ye and Jiang Yue in shock. Seeing that they were both calm, she let go of Ning Ning's hand and said, "Is that so?"

In fact, Jiang Yue was a little nervous when she saw Ning Ning reaching out her hand, but when she saw how calm Gu Ye was, she felt relieved. Then she thought that Hu Zi was a military dog, and if Gu Ye was not worried, then she didn't have to worry either.

Sure enough, Hu Zi just glanced at the meat bun that Ning Ning handed over, then withdrew his gaze expressionlessly without even sticking out his tongue.

"Hu Zi, you can eat!" Wang Yang saw that Ning Ning looked a little disappointed, so he ordered Hu Zi.

Hu Zi first glanced at Ningning, then opened his mouth slightly and gently took the meat bun from Ningning's hand without touching Ningning's hand the whole time. After taking the meat bun, he took a gulp and swallowed the bun.

"Mom, Hu Zi is eating buns!" Ningning clapped her hands happily. After feeding Hu Zi the buns, the little girl reached out and touched Hu Zi's big head.

Hu Zi also rubbed Ning Ning's little hand with his head, and the friendship between the two was established in such a friendly way.

"Auntie, Cuiling, we'll go back first!" Just like last night, leaving Huzi in the store, Jiang Yue said to Auntie Yang before leaving: "Auntie, thank you for keeping an eye on it at night!"

"Don't worry!" Aunt Yang said with a smile, "Now I find that I sleep less as I get older, so it's a bit useful!"

Gu Ye wanted to take Wang Yang with him to the car, but Wang Yang said no, "Gu Tuan, I can just run back, it's not far!"

It was a late December night, and it was just past six o'clock when it was already completely dark.

After arriving home, Jiang Yue hurried to heat up the lunch. Before she left in the afternoon, the pork bone soup had been kept warm on a low fire on the coal stove. As soon as she entered the yard, she smelled a rich aroma of broth.

"Gu Ye, you and Ningning have a bowl of soup first, the food will be ready soon!" Jiang Yue scooped two bowls of soup and brought them to the big table, and then told Ningning, "It's hot, wait a while before drinking!"

“Okay, mom!”

Ningning actually didn’t have time to drink the soup now. She was running around following Gu Ye, watching him unpack the package.

"Dad, is this sent by grandma?" Ningning was very excited looking at such a big box. Every time her grandma sent a package, there would be candies and snacks for her, which were especially delicious.

"Yes!" Gu Ye took out a number of tightly wrapped small packages from the big box and placed them on the ground one by one.

One of the boxes had a foreign language printed on it. Gu Ye took a look and handed it to Ning Ning, "Take it and show it to mom."

Ning Ning ran to the kitchen and handed the box to Jiang Yue, "Mom, Dad wants you to see what this is."

Jiang Yue took it and saw that it was printed in German. "It's a German butter cookie. It's delicious!"

She tore open the box and took a piece for Ningning.

"Mom, eat first!" Ningning handed the cookie to Jiang Yue's mouth first.

Jiang Yue took a bite and it tasted sweet and rich in butter flavor. "It's delicious!"

Ningning ran out again, waved to Gu Ye, asked him to squat down, and handed the cookie to Gu Ye, "Daddy, eat it! Mommy said it's delicious!"

Gu Ye also took a bite. Hmm, it was indeed delicious, just like the taste he had when he was a child.

By this time, the food was heated up. Jiang Yue brought it to the big table in the main hall and went to the yard to see what Gu Ye took out of the big box sent by her mother-in-law.

"So many foods!" Jiang Yue picked up one at random. Most of them were imported goods, and it was obvious that they were bought at the Friendship Store.

"Gu Ye, were you tired of eating these when you were a child?" Jiang Yue opened another box. It was imported pistachios, which her mother-in-law especially liked to feed her.

"I don't eat it often. Grandpa and dad don't allow me to eat it. They say if I have to eat it, I should eat our country's own food, not foreign food!" Gu Ye curled his lips.

"Will you eat it secretly?" Jiang Yue peeled a pistachio.

"When I was very young, my grandfather would feed me secretly!" Gu Ye looked at Jiang Yue tenderly.

Jiang Yue's eyebrows curved, "Then did Grandma learn to feed me like this from Grandpa?"

When Gu Ye heard Jiang Yue use the word "feed", he glanced at the food spread out on the ground and couldn't help laughing. It was really an accurate description!

Jiang Yue asked Rong Yin to help find a piece of clothing material a while ago. The last time she called, Rong Yin said she had found one that met her description and had sent it over this time.

"Is this nylon?" Gu Ye saw the smooth cloth in Jiang Yue's hand and recognized it as nylon. "You want to use this to make clothes?"

“Yes, make down jackets!”
