Chapter 68: I’m your own man, why can’t I order him around?

Gu Ye didn't know why he thought of the word "avoid suspicion", but that was the feeling Jiang Yue gave him at the moment.

"Gu Ye, why are you still standing there?" Jiang Yue was a little surprised to see Gu Ye still standing there motionless, and Gu Ye's eyes seemed to be staring at her vaguely.

Why are you looking at her? Didn't she give up her seat to him?

The main reason was that Gu Ye was too tall. He stood next to Jiang Yue and didn't say anything, which put Jiang Yue under a lot of pressure.

"Daddy, come sit down!" Ningning patted the empty seat beside her with her little hands.

Gu Ye then sat down and asked Ning Ning, "What are you talking about with mom?"

Jiang Yue stood up again at this time, "You guys chat, I'll go put the cabinet away."

When she passed in front of Gu Ye, a faint fragrance wafted past him, and Gu Ye felt his breath was held.

Ningning said in a baby voice: "Mom teaches Ningning to recite poems."

Gu Ye raised his eyebrows, "Oh? What poem did you recite?"

Ningning nodded her little head and recited word by word: "People in the world plant peaches and plums, all in Jinzhang's house. They climb and break the trees to get a shortcut, and now the spring breeze is warm."

But the poem was too long, and Ningning couldn't remember the rest. She frowned and thought, "One day, one day^"

Gu Ye then added: "Once the sky is frosty, glory will not last long. How can you know that the laurel tree in the south mountain has green leaves and fragrant roots. It can also provide cool shade, so why not plant it in your garden?"

Ningning's eyes lit up, "Yes, Dad reads it the same way Mom taught me!"

This is "Ode to the Osmanthus" by the great poet Li Bai. Gu Ye did not expect that Jiang Yue would teach Ning Ning to recite such a long poem. He then looked at the big osmanthus tree in the yard, which seemed very appropriate for the scene.

"What other poems can Ningning recite?" Gu Ye asked.

Ningning recited seven poems in one breath. Gu Ye calculated that it was exactly seven days from the day he went out on the mission to today, so Jiang Yue taught Ningning to recite one poem a day.

Gu Ye's brows furrowed slightly. His original purpose of marrying Jiang Yue was to find a mother for Ningning who could take care of her and teach her knowledge. The current Jiang Yue completely meets his expectations, but for some reason, Gu Ye arose a strange feeling in his heart at this moment.

A voice came from the main room. Gu Ye slightly turned his head and looked over. Jiang Yue was placing the wicker cabinet against the wall.

"Why is it placed here?" Gu Ye raised his eyebrows. He originally thought that Jiang Yue bought this wicker cabinet to put it in her room.

"It should be placed here!" Jiang Yue poked his head out of the main room and waved at Ningning, "Ningning, come here!"

"Coming!" Ningning jumped off the bed and ran over.

Seeing that Ning Ning was not as timid and cowardly as before after following Jiang Yue, Gu Ye couldn't help but look at Jiang Yue twice more.

"Ningning, go get all the shoes." Jiang Yue directed Ningning to do the work.

"Okay, Mom!" Ningning went to move the shoes immediately. She put Gu Ye's, Jiang Yue's and her own small shoes together, then looked up at Jiang Yue, waiting for Jiang Yue's next instructions.

Gu Ye was also looking at Jiang Yue. She had a smile on her face and looked very gentle. It was the same face as before, with a stern face and downturned mouth corners. But she seemed more beautiful now, and her smile seemed to be glowing.

"Put the heavy and big ones on the bottom, and the light and small ones on the top." Jiang Yue looked at Ningning and thought for a moment before putting Gu Ye's shoes on the bottom layer of the wicker cabinet. She curved her eyes and praised Ningning, "Ningning is great! Putting dad's big shoes on the bottom layer will stabilize the center of gravity of the cabinet and it won't fall over easily!"

Ningning picked out Jiang Yue's shoes and put them in the middle layer, and then put her own small shoes in the upper layer.

"Look, isn't the house much tidier?" When Jiang Yue saw this wicker cabinet at the market, she immediately thought of putting it at home as a shoe cabinet. Now it seems that it is indeed very suitable.

Gu Ye was also looking at the shoe cabinet with his arms folded. Originally, the shoes of the three of them were placed at the door or under the bed, but now they were all neatly placed in the wicker cabinet, from top to bottom, Ningning's, Jiang Yue's, and his. It really looked very lifelike.

"Knock knock," someone knocked on the door.

"Is Gu Tuan at home? Someone came to look for him and said that the Huamu Commune came to deliver flowers."

"Coming!" Gu Ye responded and turned to walk out. When he left the yard, he looked back and saw Jiang Yue standing in the corridor, talking to Ning Ning. She seemed to notice Gu Ye's gaze, so she looked up at him and smiled at him.

Before leaving the Flower and Tree Commune, Jiang Yue told the manager that she didn't know much about growing flowers and hoped that a technician could be sent to guide her.

The person who came to deliver the flowers was a middle-aged woman in her fifties. She introduced herself as Zheng. Aunt Zheng said that her ancestors ran a nursery and she has been planting flowers since she could walk.

Two climbing roses were planted at the base of the courtyard wall. Aunt Zheng asked Jiang Yue to find some bamboo poles and put them in the corners of the wall so that the rose vines could climb up the courtyard wall along the bamboo poles.

"You have to be willing to prune flowers like roses. You have to prune them after they bloom. The more you prune, the faster they grow!" Aunt Zheng was quick and skillful. She planted all the flowers quickly and explained to Jiang Yue how to care for each flower. Jiang Yue took a small notebook and wrote down everything.

"Girl, the osmanthus tree in your house is very nice. It must be several decades old!" Aunt Zheng praised the osmanthus tree before leaving.

Jiang Yue also asked how to maintain the osmanthus tree.

After seeing Aunt Zheng off, Jiang Yue turned around and saw Gu Ye holding Ningning's hand and standing next to Yue Ji, so she walked over as well.

"Mom, this flower is about to bloom!" Ningning pointed at a rose bud excitedly.

Jiang Yue looked over and saw that the bud was still green. She smiled and said, "It's still early! Ningning, look at its petal bending down and you can see the color. That means it's about to bloom!"
