Jiang Yue took great pains and finally washed all of Gu Ye's clothes. Halfway through, she decided not to try so hard again next time.
After hanging up the clothes and preparing the porridge Jiang Yue cooked, she went to wake Ningning up. The little girl had been sleeping soundly all day and hadn't gotten up yet.
"Mom, where's Dad?" Ningning asked while rubbing her eyes while sitting on her own little bed by the window.
"Dad has gone to work, Ningning, get up quickly and have breakfast." Jiang Yue did not enter Gu Ye's room, but stood at the door and talked to Ningning.
When Gu Ye left in the middle of the night, he did not blow out the kerosene lamp. By this time, the kerosene in the lamp had dried up and there was a smell of kerosene in the room.
Ningning could dress herself and didn't need Jiang Yue's help, so Jiang Yue went to the kitchen and brought the porridge to the table in the main room.
Jiang Yue was afraid that drinking porridge alone would not be enough to satisfy hunger, so she kneaded the dough and made pancakes next to the pot, and boiled two eggs to enhance the nutrition for herself and Ningning.
After breakfast, Jiang Yue asked Ningning to put on rubber shoes and go out for a walk. There were thunder and lightning last night, strong winds and heavy rain, and I don’t know what the situation in the family area is like.
The sun had been out for a while, and the blue bricks in the yard dried quickly, but the mud was still wet.

"My house leaks too, but it's better than yours, only the main room leaks. Hey, why does the thunder strike anywhere else but this old locust tree in our family quarters? Does it portend something?"
"Could it be that some evil spirit possessed the old locust tree? Otherwise, why would the lightning only strike the old locust tree?"
"Don't talk nonsense! We are military families, don't discuss these ghosts and gods!"
The speaker may not mean it, but the listener may take it seriously. Jiang Yue was very panicked when the thunder struck last night, and she always felt that it was directed at her. Seeing the old locust tree broken in the middle, and the place where it was struck by lightning was charred, Jiang Yue felt even more uneasy.
Jiang Yue did not continue to stay at the gate to watch the fun. She took Ningning and walked outside the family area. She wanted to go to the river to take a look.
It rained too heavily last night. Gu Ye said that the water level rose downstream and flooded two villages. The division headquarters is located on high ground and was not affected, but the nearby market town was in a mess.
There were a few houses located in low-lying areas, and rainwater flowed back into the houses, so the family members had to stand in the water and scoop out the water.
When they reached the river, Jiang Yue saw from afar that the water level had reached the same level as the riverbank, and the waves were swaying so much that he felt dizzy.
Because of the last time she fell into the water, Jiang Yue didn’t dare to go to the water recently, and even if she reached the river, she didn’t dare to get close to it.
Jiang Yue felt nauseous whenever she thought of the plot in the original book where she tried to commit suicide by jumping into the river but did not die, and instead drifted to a village of human traffickers.
On the way back, Jiang Yue stopped by the vegetable market. There were few people selling vegetables today, and there were few people at the pork stall. She weighed two kilograms of meat, paid for it and gave it a meat ticket, and carried it in a net bag.
Seeing that the seafood store next door had grass carp, Jiang Yue also bought one.
"Ningning, can we go home and make dumplings?" Jiang Yue tried hard to put aside the uneasy feeling in her heart.
She told herself that it was useless to think too much, and that she would just fight back when the enemy came and block when the water came. She lived so hard just to break free from the fate predetermined in the book!
"But Ningning doesn't know how to make dumplings." Ningning was immediately happy when she heard that there were dumplings to eat, "But Ningning can learn from mom!"
"So good!" Jiang Yue pinched Ningning's little face, "So, Ningning, do you like pork and cabbage or leeks and shrimp?"

Jiang Yue laughed, "Then eat them all!"
She had made up her mind to make dumplings for lunch and save the fish to fillet and make sauerkraut fish in the evening.
Ningning looked up at Jiang Yue. After all these years, she had never forgotten that smile as bright as the sun.
When Jiang Yue arrived at the gate of the division headquarters, he saw from afar two soldiers carrying a person. The person was dressed like a woman and was carrying a green canvas bag.
"What happened?" Jiang Yue asked the soldier on guard as he approached.
"Hello, sister-in-law!" The soldier first greeted Jiang Yue, then replied: "A crazy woman came to make trouble. Before our company commander could say a few words to her, she knocked herself unconscious and has now been sent to the clinic."
"That's how it is!" Jiang Yue didn't take it to heart. Influenced by the past movement, many people who were not mentally strong enough couldn't bear it and went crazy. She had seen crazy people in the town and the county.
So when Jiang Yue heard the soldier say that she was a crazy woman, she naturally thought of that. She even felt a little sympathetic, as she seemed to be so young but had actually gone crazy.
Watching Jiang Yue and Ning Ning walk away, another soldier came over and asked the one who was talking to Jiang Yue, "You didn't tell Gu Tuan's wife that this crazy woman was looking for Gu Tuan, right?"
"Ah? Is there such a thing? I didn't know about it!" The soldier was shocked. He had just come here to change shifts and didn't know about this. "Brother Fa, what's going on? What's the relationship between that crazy woman and Gu Tuan?"
"There is no relationship at all! Gu Tuan doesn't even know her!"
Jiang Yue entered the family compound and found that the broken locust tree had been dragged away, leaving only a charred half stump.
"Jiang Yue, are you going to buy groceries?" Someone greeted Jiang Yue.
