After exchanging pleasantries, Su An took the unconscious Su Ting home.
Fortunately, Su Ting only suffered superficial injuries and did not suffer any serious bone damage.
He woke up early in the morning and was so excited when he learned of the Wang family's fate that he jumped for joy.
While helping with the chores, Su Jiang looked at her younger brother with a reproachful gaze, "Take it easy, don't make Mom and your older sister worry anymore."
After this incident, the second brother's aura became increasingly calm and composed.
In addition, he grew taller quickly, almost surpassing Su An. His tall and straight figure exuded an imposing presence as an older brother.
Little Su Yue puffed out her cheeks and muttered, "That's right, Second Brother is already an adult, but Third Brother is still not serious."
"Oh, you guys! I was a hero last night, wasn't I? I even got injured!" Su Ting shrank his neck, his still somewhat childish face revealing a proud look, like a victorious little hero.
Seeing this, Su An and Li Guihua exchanged a glance and smiled warmly.
"Knock knock—"
Suddenly, a knock sounded at the door, and Xiao Suyue's eyes lit up. "I'll go open the door, it must be the handsome brother!"
Since the shop wasn't ready yet, the family decided to take a few days off, so they didn't expect anyone else to be there.
However, the person who came was someone they didn't expect.
"Master? You wouldn't come to the temple without a reason. What brings you here?"
Su An crossed his arms and glared at the teacher who had just entered.
The other party was carrying gifts and looked very eager.
Upon seeing the family, he bowed deeply at a 90-degree angle and said with a tone full of remorse, "I've come to apologize. I was blinded by right and wrong before, and I'm truly ashamed!"
"Hearing that the children were injured again, I brought some tonics as a token of my appreciation as a teacher!"
Sanwa frowned, his eyes still filled with anger as he stared at him.
Su An patted their heads to comfort them, then thought for a moment and smiled.
She knew that the reason the tutor came to her door was simply because the Wang family had been imprisoned and had lost their support.
but……
"Since it is the Master's good intention, then we will accept it."
Su An spoke calmly, which immediately delighted the teacher, who then stuffed the gift into Sanwa's hands with a beaming smile.
"We can let bygones be bygones and forgive and forget, but in the future, I would appreciate it if you would take good care of my younger siblings in the school."
"Of course, I will do my best for the students!" The teacher agreed, and breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the Su family was willing to forgive him; otherwise, even Master Wang would have been imprisoned, and he would have gotten away with offending the Su family.
The three children looked at each other, and in that instant, they all felt a surge of pride.
Su Yue snorted and raised her little nose, "Then may I ask the teacher, whose fault is it that happened in the school?"
"That big tiger bullies the weak and oppresses the students, and I foolishly chose to protect him. We are both at fault!" the teacher said without hesitation, displaying the demeanor of a truly upright gentleman.
Su Yue and Su Ting didn't think too much about it; they were just overjoyed to see that their teacher had finally admitted his mistake.
"You admit your mistake and correct it; you're still a good teacher. Yueyue will reluctantly forgive you!"
The two children were delighted, and a smile also appeared in Su Jiang's dark eyes as he nodded with satisfaction.
As Li Guihua watched, her eyes welled up with tears. She sighed and said to Su An, "Daughter, my vision is too narrow. You are right."
Su An grinned and raised an eyebrow at Sanwa: "You heard everything? What should you do if something like this happens again?"
The three little ones subconsciously straightened their chests and raised their heads, looking full of energy.
"We cannot let others bully us; we must fight back!"
Su An was even more gratified than her own mother.
What does it mean to have your bitterness end and your happiness come after all, and to see the moon shine through the clouds?
At this moment, everything was worth it.
After this incident, Sanwa became the king of the school, fawned over by the teacher and admired by his classmates, and lived a very fulfilling life.
But life outside was getting harder. Refugees kept pouring into the city, the number of beggars increased, and fights and brawls were much more frequent.
The streets were filled with patrolling constables.
"Su'an, some refugees have poured into the city. It's very chaotic outside now. If you don't have anything to do, try not to go out too much." Mother couldn't help but give these instructions before personally taking the three children to school.
Upon hearing this, Su An felt a chill and frowned.
Refugees? Could there have been some disaster somewhere recently?
This is not a good sign.
After thinking for a moment and getting ready, Su An began to observe the movements outside the street.
Her shop was located in the center of the county, and usually it was frequented by diners and merchants. But now, she saw a number of ragged refugees wandering the streets, pitifully begging for food from the shops.
Su An then instructed Zhang San to take some steamed buns out and distribute them to refugees in need, while also reminding them to be vigilant recently.
However, she did not expect that the refugee crisis would erupt like wildfire in the blink of an eye.
In just three days, a large number of refugees continued to pour into Fuyou County, and the streets and alleys were almost completely filled.
Their faces were sallow, and both adults and children were skin and bones from hunger. There were even corpses that died of hunger and cold by the roadside!
The county magistrate acted swiftly, dispatching constables and yamen runners to maintain order, opening granaries to distribute grain, and providing relief to the disaster victims.
However, the number of refugees was so large, and there was a vast expanse of people outside the city, that the granaries were quickly running out of food within three days!
Now the refugees are drinking watery porridge, which doesn't fill their stomachs at all. Driven by hunger, they attack restaurants in groups.
