Chapter 144 Falling to the Bottom of the Cliff

As soon as he finished speaking, Su An wanted to curse himself for being such a jinx.

Suddenly, a dense volley of arrows rained down from behind the trees—

Fu Zhun's face was cold and stern. He tightly held Su An with one hand and fell to the ground sideways, using the sandalwood wheelchair to block the two of them.

The wheelchair was fairly spacious; with arms and legs folded up, it could barely cover the body.

Su An heard the sounds of countless sharp arrows piercing the earth and his wheelchair, and cold sweat soaked his back.

A few breaths later, it seemed that the arrows could not eliminate the target. Then, a dozen figures appeared from the woods, wielding long swords and rushing towards the two.

Su An's pupils contracted; he never dreamed that so many assassins were lurking in the deep mountains and forests.

"How did these people know our whereabouts? It seems they were lying in ambush all along!"

She grew anxious. The soldiers had all been taken away to work, and they were some distance away. She didn't know if they could detect the attack.

Fu Zhun's eyes turned icy cold. He decisively pushed her away, "Go quickly, go call for backup!"

"Hmph, trying to run away?"

The next moment, the leader of the assassins, a man in a black and red robe, had already charged forward with his spear, the blade aimed directly at Fu Zhun behind the wheelchair.

"Fu Zhun!" Su An's heart leaped into his throat, and he instinctively wanted to go over.

But then Fu Zhun exuded a chilling aura, and with a flick of his sleeve, several hidden arrows shot towards the leader's face.

"Trying to break a rock with an egg, overestimating your own strength!" Blood Fiend sneered disdainfully, raising his spear and sweeping it horizontally, knocking away several hidden arrows in mid-air.

"Even rats in the gutter only dare to resort to assassination." A resolute glint flashed in Fu Zhun's eyes.

He then moved his legs, and in a flash, stood up from the ground, drawing a long sword with a cold, sharp glint from the handle of his wheelchair.

Seeing this, Su An gasped. Fu Zhun was actually able to get up?!

Blood Fiend's eyes also showed shock. After a moment, he reacted and shouted, "Attack together! This cripple won't be able to stand for long!"

The dozen or so men behind him exchanged a glance and immediately rushed to surround and kill Fu Zhun.

Fu Zhun's eyes suddenly turned cold and sharp. He also wanted to finish the battle quickly. He brandished his long sword and attacked Xue Sha with a fierce aura, seemingly preparing to capture the leader first.

That swordsmanship was exquisite, every move was filled with killing intent.

Blood Fiend underestimated his opponent and was not prepared at all. Under Fu Zhun's sudden outburst, he was caught off guard and struggled to defend himself. Before long, he was forced back dozens of meters!

At that very moment, Fu Zhun shifted his target, his sword flashing through the air in a sharp arc before turning and sweeping across the remaining assassins like a serpent.

"ah--"

Instantly, screams filled the air. Most of the assassins who had attacked were killed or wounded in an instant, leaving only a handful!

"You!" Blood Fiend's eyes widened like copper bells, filled with shock and anger, staring at Fu Zhun with extreme apprehension. "We underestimated you!"

"But if I can't deal with you, can't I at least deal with that brat?!"

Xue Sha suddenly sneered, his gaze like that of a venomous snake as he looked at Su An, who was running wildly through the woods.

As soon as she saw that Fu Zhun was able to deal with the assassin, Su An had already turned and fled. The mountain road was difficult to walk, and she fell and rolled twice before barely escaping the assassin's range.

In just a moment, she felt a chill run down her back.

As if sensing something, he turned his head and was horrified to see the Blood Demon attacking him like a ghost!

His figure moved with lightning speed, and he quickly rushed over in a few big strides!

"Holy crap, light-footed skill? Aerial micro-stepping?!"

"Go to hell!"

With a sinister laugh, Su An's eyes widened, but it was too late to dodge.

Blood Fiend unleashed a powerful palm strike, sending a visible surge of immense power towards her.

After dealing with the remaining assassins, Fu Zhun, who was some distance away, suddenly narrowed his dark eyes upon seeing this scene.

"Su An, get down quickly!" he shouted, and his figure flashed in that direction in an instant.

Hearing this in the midst of the chaos, Su An immediately lay down without hesitation.

However, she was still a step too late, and the sharp palm strike grazed her right shoulder with a "bang".

"Ugh!" Su An groaned, feeling a sharp pain in his shoulder, and then his body flew backward like a falling leaf.

Behind her was a cliff halfway up the mountain!

"Su An!"

Fu Zhun watched helplessly as Su An's figure plummeted to the ground, a crimson glint appearing in his eyes.

He stepped straight across the cliff with his toes touching the ground, and without hesitation, he leaned down.

At this moment, below the cliff, Su An, pale-faced, was hanging in mid-air, clinging tightly to a tree branch.

"Damn it!"

If she hadn't been lucky enough to fall into a tree, she probably would have really crashed!

Her hands were chafed raw by the branches, and half of her shoulder ached terribly, but she dared not relax for a moment, gritting her teeth and trying her best to climb up.

At this moment, Fu Zhun swooped down, his eyes fixed on the ground below, searching for Su An's figure.

When I saw the figure fluttering in the tree, my heart suddenly relaxed, and a deep sense of relief and lingering fear welled up inside me.

"Su An, give me your hand!"

The wind whistled past her ears, and accompanied by a deep voice, Fu Zhun's figure landed straight in front of her and stood firmly.

Before they could even rejoice, a series of sharp cracking sounds rang out as the tree branch, unable to bear the weight of the two people, began to split.

Su An gritted her teeth and reached out her hand, only to be enveloped in a broad chest, her breath filled with the familiar scent of pine and snow.

"Hold on tight." Fu Zhun's face was also somewhat pale at this moment, and he spoke in a low, hoarse voice.

Before the branch broke, he held Su An tightly and immediately used his lightness skill.

Lightly touch the branches with your toes to use the rebound force to slow your descent.

Fortunately, the cliff was located halfway up the mountain, and the distance from the bottom was not fatal.

In a few breaths, Fu Zhun, with Su An in tow, slowly descended using tree branches as leverage, each step rapidly depleting his strength.

When he finally landed steadily on the ground, the intense pain in his legs caused him to collapse to the ground, losing all support.

Su An's heart was still pounding. Seeing this, she immediately snapped back to reality and quickly supported him, asking anxiously, "What's wrong? Where are you hurt?"

Fu Zhun was slightly out of breath, his usually stern face was terribly pale, and he was drenched in sweat.

He looked at Su An's anxious face and said in a hoarse voice, "It's alright, I'm not injured. I just ate a Hidden Dragon Pill while dealing with the assassin."

"This pill allows me to unleash my power for a short period of time, but I will be weak for three days after using it. I can barely stand up now, but I have not yet recovered."

Upon hearing this, Su An felt a sharp, stabbing pain in her heart, as if pricked by needles.

If Fu Zhun hadn't cared about them, he could have left to seek help first, but now they've both ended up at the bottom of the cliff.

"Thank you for saving my life again." Her eyes were slightly red, and she looked away with a pained expression.

"I said I would protect you, isn't this what I should do?" Fu Zhun smiled and rubbed her head. During this time, he had regulated his breathing and his breathing had become much calmer. He stood up, supporting himself with his longsword.

"The cliff isn't deep, but the assassin will likely follow. Let's find a place to hide first."
